The singular best investment I made were those neon foam earplugs, even if they’ve... all kind of wound up missing, except for? Three? And none of the colours match. I might barge into the campus store to pick up some new ones, to be honest- my quality of sleep has been incomparable. It’s really nice when you aren’t kept up by the swishing of cars or people chatting...

It’s been a completely hectic week or so since I’ve been here. Especially clawing your way through a backlog of stuff: but I feel tired, if accomplished: still gotta push through the next week or so, but there’s satisfaction in going just that little bit further to reassure yourself of an easier day tomorrow. Future me better appreciate it! And now: for some warm toast and relaxing.

Completely underestimated the extent of research I’d need for the biology prelab... Exhausted but feeling real proud of myself for finishing a whole whackload of things from my to do list today, though! And looking forward to sleeping in.

This is what my daily journal looks like, by the by! Someone dear to me gifted me the experience of purchasing it, and it’s a nice reminder that someone cares about me to keep close. It’s a lot nicer than what I would usually shell out for on myself, and the two pale pink ribbon bookmarks it has are adorable. The paper is a cool toned gray- and I primarily just use Muji gelpens with the odd swatch of washi tape in it, so bleeding or ghosting hasn’t been much of an issue for me.

I’m quite proud of the fact I haven’t missed a single day of journalling since the decade started. That’s one New Years resolution that continues to be notched under my belt! Weekends can be a bit more difficult, so it’s nice that I’ve still had the same consistency towards it.

Picked up some foam earbuds to sleep in, to help with some restlessness I’ve had. A little uncomfortable- just as I remember it, the oddness of your breathing and heartbeat magnified in your own ears, but they did really help in cutting people talking late into the night and some of the traffic. I ended up passing out and at some point they slipped out of my ears- I found one by my waist in the morning, and need to hunt the other one down- they’re neon, thank goodness, but it was nice.

Anticipating shopping trips is almost better than actually going on them- you get the frizzle of excitement without the guilt afterwards. Still, I do want a purple pen... The Muji ones last forever too, so I don’t feel quite as bad dropping a couple of dollars for some pens.

Found a real sweet studyspot- the chairs aren’t the best, but it’s relatively quiet, there’s tons of outlets, and it’s got a lot of natural light which is really nice. Plus there’s room to sprawl out and slap all your stuff up on the counters.
Was real productive yesterday- got everything I wanted done and a little extra, off of my list. Though after staying up for 34 hours, I’m wiped. Picked up some new pens & some caramels as a treat for a dollar. :-)
Looking forward to the weekend!

My schedule’s pretty funky- I have at least an hour gap everyday, with a huge four hour one on Thursdays- but it works out since I’ve time to have lunch, wander around, do errands, organize what I need to do periodically through the day, and being on campus for extended times forces me to be productive rather than slacking off at home. The early wakeup times are a pain- but it beats sleeping half of the day awake and working into the night, since I give up mentally around 10pm no matter how long I’ve been up, LOL.

This whole: ‘today, tomorrow, this week/weekend, looking up ahead’ view on my to do Google Doc has been working out fairly well, since it forces me to sort things in a realistic fashion of what I’m actually going to get accomplished. And being mindful to having some fun during breaks for eating or chilling out, since I’ve added a hot pink label for personal stuff- if I’m going to do it, I might as well factor those into my schedule too.

Today was a surprise day off, and it went well! (Labs and tutorials don’t run for the first week of classes, I imagine it’s to do with course coordination and people dropping / swapping sections / trying to swarm the campus store for supplies and all that jazz.)
I slept in, having decided I wanted to do that- though I was pondering trying to get a handle on sleeptraining myself again- sort of like the oversized toddler who spent a month of winter break going to bed at like, four to five in the morning. Putting myself into bed physically at ten kind of helps, and I imagine after this weekend I’ll be so exhausted I’ll crashcourse reset anyways. But I still got everything I wanted to do done!
Got half of the Calculus pre-lab work done, following what we covered in class.
Finished the Chemistry pre-lab quiz.
Finished the Physics pre-lab work for lab #1.
Finished the Physics pre-lab work for lab #4.
Partially filled out Chemistry paperwork.
And, since I make it a routine to start homework by checking our online assignments area (as there’s no announcements or e-mail reminders):
Finished a Biology surprise primer for some bonus marks!
Finished a Biology pre-lecture assignment.
Got 31% of a Physics chapter assignment done, following what we had covered in class.
And in general, for house-keeping purposes:
Picked up a lab notebook for Chemistry.
Picked up the lab manual for Chemistry.
Got a spiral bound notebook for scrap notes.
Drafted an e-mail to send to the print shop after the lab tomorrow.
Set up my to-do list for tomorrow, and cleaned up what I had finished off of it.
Tomorrow I’ve got a surprise four hour gap since, again, labs and tuts don’t run first week- so I’m going to:
Pick up my Biology lab manual.
Pick up my Biology lab notebook.
Do Biology lab prep.
Chug away at more Physics pre-lab.
Might visit the stationary store as a treat. Girls can have little a stationary as a treat. :^)
I’ll be using Thursday’s gap to be working on English readings and polishing off the lab bit of the Calculus prep, though!
