Harry and Taylor Swift aren’t all the different but it’s interesting to me how they go about fandom and parasocial relationships bc Harry uses such a level of detachment and vagueness for fans to project their theories and fantasies onto (whether that be consciously or unconsciously on his part) while the other enables the exact same thing but through cryptic easter eggs and a contrived media presence (further creating a sense of entitlement among her fans to have all access to her). Sorry if this doesn’t make sense or if I’m just pointing out the obvious lmao
NO it does make sense and this was one of my biggest icks when Harry tried the discord easter egg thing for HS3 bc like ultimately it didn't work bc he lacked that sort of relationship with his fans. You can't be this aloof and never interact with fans and then spring this sort of thing one them and expect it to take off naturally - it works for her bc that's her strategy (to a fault where it makes people go lit chrally insane, I don't think this is a route he should go down if he values privacy). But they both defs leverage that obsessive parasocial relationship by letting their fans do all the heavy lifting of their marketing/promo and making them feel validated or like they have some deep kind of subliminal bond when they guess one of the easter eggs (that was probably either painfully obvious or decided to affirm existing fan conspiracies in the first place lol)
