Fishy-Fishy, Where Are You? || Open

Gill wasn’t exactly an animal person, but he did like fish for whatever reason. He was wandering the halls of his newly bought aquarium, trying not to think about the unfinished wings and sections of the building. He wanted to bring Leuda a great aquarium so that people had a place to come and experience some form of wonder... 

With his hands tucked behind his back, looking everything like the boss he was, Gill made his ways towards the docks, headed over to check on Nanny. His brow furrowed in worry when he didn’t immediately see her, however. He rushed off to find a worker, his voice filled with worry as he ran around trying to find someone, anyone who could tell him where the older mammal had gone.

It’s Okay, He’s Okay || Open

Gill had spent the past few days back at Waffle Island after a distressing call from the island’s doctor. His father had fallen ill. Now, he was back in Leuda at the request of his father, but not feeling any better about anything.

“Go. You’re no good to me pacing the floor here. I’ll be fine. I have a competent staff and an even more competent son. I want you to go back to Leuda and take care of your life there. You can’t spend forever taking care of your old man.”

“D-Da-”

“No. I’ve humored you enough. Go back. I’ll be fine.” 

Gill wouldn’t exactly call himself, “a daddy’s boy,” but Hamilton was the last family Gill had, the last real connection he had. He’d never even considered a life without him. 

He’d be fine, Gill just had to believe that. 

He got off the boat with a long expression on his face and he stared down at the ground as he pulled his bags behind him back to the home he shared with Elli and her brother. No doubt they’d be very loud... maybe that was what he needed. 

However, even as the thought entered his mind, Gill’s body turned, as if on it’s own, for the board walk where he found the nearest bar and started drinking, as if by doing so he could wash his problems away.

He blinked at her, as if she were insulting him. “Your advise is appreciated, but not entirely necessary, ma’am.” He explained, watching her face. What did she take him for? An idiot? He was a business man, he knew exactly what he was doing and how silly it might seem to others. 

“I’m very well aware how much I’m donating to you.” He explained simply, blinking at her again. “Why? Do I seem like I can’t afford 50,000?” He asked, a smirk on his face.

I’m too lazy to look up the dates. Poor boy failed one and then passed due to a hiatus. He lives in a house, and made no monies. His mun shall be trying to get her shit back together here in a bit.  Rip fish boi.

Oh, shit. She works at the Herbarium? Gill visibly stiffened for a moment before shaking his head. “N-No... I don’t need any. It’s fine. I have spares somewhere.” He explained, really hoping he wouldn’t have to admit what he’d just done to Licorice.

He gently placed them back in the box and picked it up to move into the moving truck. “Thanks for helping me, though...” Gill told the woman as he finished, turning back towards her. “I’ll need to hurry now though so... Would you be willing to help me more? If you’re not busy, that is. I can pay.” He explained, feeling silly for having to ask. If only Elli weren’t watching the shop right now, he could have called her.

“Potatos can’t be ambitious. They don’t have sentient thought...” Gill replied, raising a brow at her. “You have fun with your turnip and radish experiments. I’m going to buy potatos and whatever else Elli put on this damn list.” He explained, clearly trying to get the girl to leave him alone at this point.

He started walking off towards the dairy section, intent on finding the specific percentage Elli wanted...

“A Carnivorous Plant Exhibit?” Gill asked, raising a brow at her as they walked. “A gala, huh?” He asked,  turning his face. As long as she didn’t think he stole the gala idea from him... 

“Well, I could help with one of the green house, the research facility, and the exhibit, how does that sound?” He asked, turning back to look at her. “I’ve brought 50,000 with me to give to you for your business, so... It’s not issue. I just wish I had enough to help with the other greenhouse as well.” He added, throwing his nose into the air for extra measure. He wasn’t so much interested in the gala as having her eventually help him in return.

Definitely too dim-witted... Gill mused to himself, his eye twitching as he watched and listened to her. “Not a huge fan, but my roommate likes to have them around for dinners.” He explained, unable to mask the irritation in his tone. 

“...How are potatoes ambitious?” He asked once the statement had finally registered with him. “I’m... not really following.” He added, placing the last potato into the cart. He decided he should at least humor her, maybe it would be entertaining...

“And what vegetables should be given a chance?” He asked, leaning on the cart with his arms crossed, his foot on the other wide of the wheel to keep it from rolling away.

Sustainability Network

As Oceanic Wonderland gets back on it’s feet, it needs help from you, the community, to grow it’s facilities. Many of the old exhibits are run down and in need of repairs. If we get our target funding, we can fix all of the leaks, cracks, and kinks in our exhibits. On each exhibit/shop/etc’s page is a listed Funds Target. If you donate and wish for your donation to go to a specific project, we are happy to do so. When you donate, you are welcome to enter our Sustainability Network where you can earn fabulous perks! 

Joining the Network

There are several different levels to the Network and each with it’s own perks. As you may have noticed, several of our attractions are out of order and in need of repair. It is through this service that Oceanic Wonderland accepts donations while giving back to the donor. You need not give any money to receive the base perks, but higher up, you get higher perks. You receive all of the perks listed under each levels under your own. For example, if you have donated 5,000G, you will receive all of the Plankton and Turtle perks in addition to the Jellyfish perks.

Gill nodded in response, turning to look at her now, a dull look on his face. “And to you...” He replied coldly, trying not to show her just how nervous he was right now. Once again, why was he doing what Elli told him to do like some puppy? He sighed and nodded at her suggestion, heading towards it with her. 

“I don’t really have anything in mind. What projects do you have that needs funds right now?” He asked as they walked, his hands held behind his back to hide the fact he was sweating. Why was he so damn nervous about giving some chick money?

Part of him was already regretting this. But he was hoping that with this gift maybe Lic would help him out. If she saw him in a better light, maybe he could get a few more scientists on his side to maybe work for the aquarium. He honestly didn’t really know what he’d gotten himself into. 

All the same, he’d made up his mind to do this and so, he would. He walked up the gardens, walking inside to see Licorice leaned over some plants, working on something, he wasn’t sure what. 

After standing there awkwardly for what seemed like ages waiting, Gill eventually started coughing with more and more veracity until she finally noticed him. 

“I’m... here to donate...” He spoke without looking her in the eyes, his face turned to stare at a nearby wall.

Considering his boat was lost to the sea (which it would have been even if he hadn’t yeeted), Gill is going to upgrade. He’ll be buying two boats from the Explorer’s Guild, a Fishing Boat for future voyages and other small tasks, and a Yacht for funsies.

Gill bowed his head slightly in response to being offered the tea. “Thank you.” He spoke, his voice soft and quiet all of the sudden. He’d been taking in the atmosphere of the inn when Gerard came back. 

Gerard’s next comment made Gill purse his lips. He could sense that the guy had no malice in that statement, but Gill couldn’t help but feel slightly insulted all the same. He smelled the tea before tasting it, closing his eyes in a vain attempt to visualize the scents. 

Gingerly, he lifted the cup to his lips and took a sip, relieved when it didn’t burn his tongue. He couldn’t help the look of shock on his face as the spice hit his tongue like a slap to the wrist. He smacked his mouth for a moment, letting the spice settle there. It wasn’t his favorite, but he couldn’t deny it wasn’t well blended. 

“Very nice.” He offered with a soft smile. “It’s potent, yet mellows near the end. Sort of like a sforzando in music.” He continued, the pleasant smile still held on his face.

“I’ll think about it...” Gill mumbled rather grumpily, heat still clinging to his cheeks despite himself. 

Pft, he believes all that magic bullcrap? Divine my left ass cheek...

He straighten his vest as they approached a building he assumed to be the man’s current residence. He vaguely remembered the man telling him it was an inn but it didn’t honestly register until Gerard was ushering him in. 

He had the fleeting thought that he was being “taken to Gerard’s room for the night” but let the thought slip past as if it hadn’t cropped up in the first place. He nodded at the offer and walked towards a nearby table. With measured movements, he pulled the chair for himself and sat down, sitting straight with his hands held neatly in his lap, the book tucked under them, while he waited for Gerard.
