there are a lot of undiagnosed adults out there but i do think it's a shame that we've reached a point where having hobbies and interests past the age of 20 is seen as a touch of the tism. i know many older adults who suppress all their childish desires and throw out all their old toys and for what. are you scared of being 'weird' ? who give a shit.

i feel like with deltarune's ongoing themes about, like, sincere attempts to help other people that backfire because the problem wasn't fully understood, or it was more about the solver than the person with the problem, or it hurt someone else involved, or so on - there's a really solid chance that dess does not want to be dragged out of the dark.

it's too soon to say exactly Why, yet. there's a lot of possibilities. maybe she doesn't want to go back to her old life exactly the way it was, taking the position that's been frozen waiting for her and that she no longer fits. maybe she doesn't want kris to martyr themself for her, and is genuinely angry at them for thinking she ever would want that. maybe she's found some new sense of happiness and purpose in the dark - the unused text is starting to take on a just barely optimistic tone, like they're finding something to hold onto. whatever it is, or whatever combo, she just doesn't want to go back to being dess as she was, and maybe isn't even capable of it.

i think if the knight is like part of dess welded to a darkner, a lot of what's gone into it is carol's understanding of her daughter. the Knight pursues the goal viciously, and attacks Kris with minimal care, and pursues everything Carol thinks Dess would want. but it isn't all of dess, and when she actually comes back I think she's going to be very little like what carol hoped
