I originally posted this on fanfiction dot net but thought I would post it here! It’s been a really long time since I’ve properly posted any fanfic/actually even written it… 

This was inspired by the Trixtopher scene on the Season 7 trailer… it made me so sad and so feel…y and hence this angsty mess of a fic happened. It was written VERY quickly and I don’t think the characterisation is quite right but I hope you guys enjoy it! Please please tell me what you think! This is a fic featuring that scene and my ideas on what I thought could have potentially led to that scene….

i’m kind of sick of this whole shit with people complaining about patsy and delia not being there anymore. we knew running up to it, if you’ve been following that they weren’t going to be in the christmas special. the representation we got with pupcake was fucking amazing. you have a show aimed at middle age women and before the watershed and there’s a lesbian couple. taking into consideration that this was the late 50s and the early 60s, they couldn’t have been out especially in a house full of nuns. the actors wanted a break from the show, and i actually think the bbcdid a pretty good job. they gave us our kiss, which was amazing. they didn’t kill off the characters, which is a pretty low standard i know- but still. patsy and delia can still appear in conversations and maybe in further episodes like chummy but at the end of the day the actors wanted to do other things. as someone who started watching call the midwife because of a christmas special i saw.. two years ago? i didn’t realise there was anything gay. i started watching because i saw a great episode of a show that really suited me, and i was so pleasantly surprised when i found out there was a happy lesbian relationship in it, and that they were given proper attention and ya know, weren’t used as a “ooh look at me we have gay people watch our show” thing. which is the representation people ask for.. this is my opinion, and it’s fine if you don’t agree, but please at least appreciate what the bbc has done in providing good representation in a show the way that people ask for (a main character is brought in and ends up being gay rather than starting off as ““the gay one”“) and providing an excellent show filled with a brilliant female cast.
