I think part of the reason why we feel so sad is that we're too far away from raw, numinous experiences. Like you know that post with a picture of the unpolluted night sky where people are reacting in terrified awe not realizing that's what the stars really look like?

I think it's like. You need vivid experiences that can't be easily repeated. You need elemental things. I don't mean this in a crunchy hippie just-try-yoga way I mean this in a way that's like...we're inside all the time and most things we experience are scheduled ahead of time. When there are sidewalks, we follow them, and there's always some boring place to go. You need things that no one has any control over and that no one can sell for money.

You need to be outside in a storm and see lightning strike very close to you. You need to meet a wild creature and have to stand very still and almost not even breathe and watch before it vanishes. You need to be alone somewhere very big. You need to go to a place because it looks interesting and be at the wrong place at the wrong time. You need to climb over a fence instead of going in by the gate. You need to hear the exploding sound of a huge flock of birds flying. You need to watch live theater performed by kids on a low budget. You need to be lost somewhere. You need to be barefoot somewhere. You need to sing with other people who are singing. You need to get soaking wet with all of your clothes on and come inside shivering.

People in St Louis jail revolt against the inhumane and horrific conditions inside, which have only gotten worse since the start of covid. This prison has been the site of protests since 2017 because of its uncleanliness, brutal working conditions, and violent and inept guards. Hundreds of people have been waiting to receive their court dates for two, three, or even five years now, in a state of indefinite imprisonment, which is being extended further under the justification of covid. This is the third uprising since December 2020. The inmates’ demands for proper medical care, court dates, and fair treatment from correctional officers have still not been met. Covid protocols are not being followed at all and inmates are often refused medical attention and exposed to disease by correctional officers and arbitrarily punished.

Read their statement from February 6th on the extent of the misery and degradation they have been subjected to in this violent system. These people are not disposable and do not deserve to be treated as such! Revolutionary love and solidarity to all those incarcerated & struggling to be free.

At dusk Elain slipped out of the house, taking care to ensure her fighting leathers remained hidden in the basket she carried; covering them strategically with the thick tulip blossom’s she’d laid over top. Though it wasn’t likely any of the inner circle was awake yet, should she run into one she’d claim she was on the way to help out in one of the many gardens around Velaris, as she often did.

In truth, she was on her way to meet Azriel, who waited for her in an alley not far from Nesta’s apartment. It was time for her first mission.

Unable to control herself she ground her body against his, smashing their hips together desperately. Hoping that she'd find the release he'd promised her back in the dining room. He was hard against her leg once more; moaning into her shoulder as she grazed it for the second time, greedy for any bit of friction. His hand finally slipped past the fabric, dipping into her pooling heat.

"Fuck-," he'd begun to shout before Nesta captured his mouth in a fierce kiss. His mouth opened immediately inviting her tongue in as she swallowed his moans, all the while clumsily toying with the strings of his pants in an effort to free him. Finally feeling his massive length in her hand she broke their kiss with a grin as she looked down, pumping him slowly, torturously. Cassian whimpered and Nesta stilled. She could have cum just from hearing that sound.

Her eyes met with another set of hazel eyes that now watched her, looming behind Cassian's shoulder. Azriel's face was stone as he bore into her.

"Don't stop now," Azriel spoke calmly. His posture was straight, dominating. It was a command and Nesta obeyed.

Placing a soft, almost chaste kiss to Cassian's temple she continued to stroke him in soft, slow, teasing movements, eyes still locked with Azriel’s. Cassian’s body trembled against hers as the general managed to ground out, "Some chaperone you are."

“Rather hard to do my job well when you two fuck like rabbits,” Azriel replied, shifting so he leaned against the open doorway. “Harder,” he commanded as if directing a simple training exercise.

This is just my opinion and I know there are a lot of posts about this, but I've been reading theories about Acotar 5 and... I just can't see this book not being about Elain and Azriel.

If we get them, we will have:

A journey to find the Forth Trove;

A connection to Koschei, who is the main villain so far;

A political plot involving the Autumn Court, the Human Realm and possibly Spring Court;

Consequently, we will have to deal with Beron AND Eris;

If Beron gets involved, we have the chance to finally see the true about Lucien's father, which means Helion will also be in the book;

A plot involving the Blood Duel because there's no way it's not coming up;

And of course, if we have Azriel... we get to see our spymaster in action!!!!!! ARRG

For the first time, we get to see a different type of female main character. In Elain's book we'll get to see the "different sort of strength, a better strength";

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it'll also be the first time we get a "forbidden romance" from SJM;

They already have feelings for each other or at least attraction (but I don't believe one bit that a person gets over an 500 years love or an engagement just for attraction) and imagine the angst (and the angst smut... is that a thing? HAHA)

Elain defying the freaking Cauldron;

Elain defying the mating bond;

A story about fate x choices;

If the plot is a cobweb, Elain is right in the center of it. I don't see the next book being about anyone else. And doesn't make sense including a bonus chapter from Az's POV just to the next book be about someone else, so... 🤷🏻‍♀️

I didn't include how they can help each other to overcome their issues, because honestly there are better posts about that and you could argue that any love interest could help them, not necessarily Azriel and Elain. But I've seen people saying SJM "killed" Elriel in the bonus chapter... but all I can see is an author setting obstacles for an upcoming book.

Whenever I read this scene, I can picture it.

Azriel, dripping blood behind him as he walks. Cradling Elain to his chest despite his injuries. (The word “cradled” gets me every time—holding someone gently, protectively)

Not letting her go until Rhys takes her from him and, even as he sways, completely powerless and weakened by his injuries, his first thoughts, his most pressing concern at that moment is for her comfort.

Elain, not caring about the chains around her wrists and ankles, kissing his cheek. In gratitude. Because he came for her. He remembered her when no one else did.

This is what made me fall in love with them. This level of caring, protecting, trusting each other and looking out for the other before looking out for themselves.

This is what Elriel is all about.
