I happened upon this scene after a day at the Rijksmuseum. They were giving away free tulips from these boats roaming the canals. It was National Tulip Day apparently, marking the start of tulip season. It was heartwarming to see so many people smiling and clamoring to get flowers. Throughout the day I kept seeing other pedestrians with a handful of tulips. It was like these tulips were coloring in the gray winter city little by little.
