Her   fingers   combed   through   blonde   locks ,   following   the   steps   cemented   in   her   memory   from   the   years   she   spent   repeating   them .     She   stuck   with   what   she   knew .     Three   buns .     It   was   one   of   her   favorite   things   to   do   alone   on   the   sandy   planet   and   now   she   was   able   to   𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞   it   with   someone   else .     And   not   just   anyone .     A   friend . 

A   joyous   smile   crept   to   her   lips ,   unable   to   contain   a   simple   enjoyment   felt   in   moments   of   her   childhood .     Along   with   doing   her   hair   on   sunny   mornings ,   scratching   miniature   doodles   on   the   walls   of   her   AT - AT   home   was   another   one   of   her   delighted   hobbies .     She   drew   herself   with   her   family   once ,   making   sure   to   place   it   close   to   where   she   slept   in   her   makeshift   cot .     It   would   𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐦   her   nightmares   some   nights   when   she   would   imagine   them   together   as   a   family ,   hoping   that   when   she   woke   up   the   next   morning ,   they’ll   be   there   to   take   her   back   to   her   real   home   and   save   her   from   the   𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬   inhabiting   the   harsh   planet .     They’d   come   back   for   her .     She   knew   they   would .     That’s   what   she   told   herself . 

This   was   different   than   what   she   was   used   to   ——   a   welcome   𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞   from   her   intensive   training   and   overwhelming   responsibility .     Any   stress   and   pressure   had   scurried   to   the   back   of   her   mind   with   each   steady   inhale   passing   through   her   lungs .     She   didn’t   have   to   be   a   warrior    𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠   on   an   unforgiving   world   or   a   hero   serving   as   a   beacon   of   hope   on   desperate   days .     She   was   just   Rey .     There   was   nothing   to   dwell   on ,   focusing   on   the   matter   at   hand .     Only   a   few   more   knots   and  ......  done .     She   drew   back   a   bit   to   observe   her   handiwork ,   looking   at   it   in   a   nearby   mirror   and   offering   a   smile ,

           He   regarded   her   with   a   tinge   of   concern   ever - so - subtly   weaved   into   his   brows .     A   familiar   feeling   struck   his    𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐄    and   a   specific   memory   bubbled   to   the   surface    ——    of   a   calm   moment   between   the   two   of   them .     A   found   agreement ,    promising    a   safe   haven   from   isolation .   You’re   not   alone .     Neither   are   you .     He   recalled   the   images   and   emotions   he   had   held   onto   from   their   time   in   the   hut ,   drawn   to   them   some   days   more   than   others .     On   days   when   the   shiny   halls   felt   coldly   vacant ,   on   days   when   the    deadly    rage   in   his    𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐃    didn’t   ease   his   conflict ,   and   on   days   his   mind   felt   haunted   with   loneliness .     He   couldn’t   help   but   want   to   touch   the   warmth   of   belonging   again   and   feel   as   if   he   weren’t   the   only   soul   among   the   stars .     But   it   was   too   much   to   ask   from   the   galaxy ,   wasn’t   it ?     Long   ago   a   curse   had   washed   over   his   young   spirit   and   tossed   him   into   a   pit   filled   with   the   waters   of   his   own    𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 .     And   he   was   drowning   in   it .     For   all   his   life ,   it   filled   his   lungs   with   a   suffocating   pain   and   rage ,   trying   to   gasp   for   any   air   to   ease   his   struggle .     But   his   mask   filtered   the   cruel   water ,   making   the   bitter   taste   easier   to    𝐒𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖    as   Kylo   Ren ,   rather   than   Ben   Solo .     He   wanted   out   of   the   pit ,   but   no   one   could   do   anything   for   him   now .     He   was   trapped   forever ,   clinging   to   fragments   of   light   to   calm   his   mind   for   a    temporary    peace .

 If   she   wanted   out ,   maybe   she’d   be   willing   to   join   him ?     His   fingers   twitched   at   his   sides .     He   stopped   himself ,   having   already   been   down   this   path   before .     Once   when   falling   snow   melted   against   their    𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐃    sabers   and   a   second   when   he   reached   out   towards   her   with   the   hope   of   shifting   the   stars   to   fit   their   his   image .     He   was   here   to   listen ,   not   to   be   selfish   with   his   own   wants .     Being    selfish    did   him   no   good .   He   realized   that   now ,   after   his    failures  .      Perhaps   he   should   stop   acting   in   his   own   interests   and   ask   what   she   wants .   He   never   truly   asked   what   she   wanted .

  Calm ,   curious ,   and   genuine ,   he   inquired ,

(It could be Reylo or they could be pure enemies. I’m fine with both). I’ll write for either of the two characters.
