As Kieran is walking through the halls, he'll hear chatter from some of the other students.

"Did you hear about the fight earlier?"

"Oh yeah! That exchange student and Stella really got into it!"

"You saw it?"

"Yeah! That girl is small but she just kept going."

"So who started it—"

He did catch the faint chatting from across the hall, immediatly feeling concern- but also frustration with himself for getting worried in the first place. Kieran fixed his gaze straight forward, clutching the pokeball holding his hydrapple that was kept in his hoodie's pocket.

He'd look into it, lest it wouldn't leave his mind at ease.

Kotone's sudden yell did not just catch Drayton offguard. Kieran stared at Kotone for a few seconds, speechless as he was, before his eyebrows knitted together in irritation and Drayton lost Kieran's aggro, so to speak. As the boy approached the girl and got right up in her face about it, not breaking eyecontact once. He wouldn't let her or Drayton know how hard it was for him to keep this eyecontact up with Kotone in particular. She held... special status.

For many specific reasons. Most of which private and very much repressed.

"What are you, naive or stupid? He's using you to piss me off and you fall for it so fucking easily!" Easy there cowboy, you might come off as concerned for her. Backtrack, lest your image falls. Kieran scowled, teeth gritted behind lips pressed together into a thin, agitated line.

A practiced laugh then erupted from him. Clearly fake, brief, joyless; mocking like a mightyena.

"YOU didn't like how we left off in Kitakami? YOU were the person who tore my heart out! And betrayed me! You were my first friend and I loved being around you, and then I learn about how you were lying to me through your fucking teeth. I'm not going to make that mistake a second time. Thanks."

The Kieran in front of her was completely different from the Kieran she knew in Kitakami. From the way he glared at other people and they scuttled off in fear, to way he raised his voice at the new friend she'd just made. And hearing his confirmation that all of this was her fault was not helping with the way her thoughts were spiraling out of control.

Drayton didn't flinch or move either, remaining calm, cool, and collected. He only adjusted his gaze upwards as Kieran hovered over him like a Pyroar assessing its prey.

For some reason, it's this interaction that spurs Kotone into action. She's not sure which is more motivation for her — preventing the two from fighting, or dissuading the idea that she was just a pawn in some game they were playing — but either way she found her voice quickly.

"Stop it!"

Her voice cut through the cafeteria, a far cry from the anxious tone it was just a moment ago, standing up to emphasize her point. Though with the new height difference between them, it may not have quite the impact she's looking for...

Drayton's eyes widened as he looked over, cut off from the rebuttal he was about to give the Champion. For now he's going to keep quiet and watch. This was getting interesting.

"I'm here because of you!" She shouted back at Kieran, standing her ground in spite of her shaking hands. "I made the decision to come to this school! I didn't like the way things left off in Kitakami! Drayton doesn't have anything to do with what's going on here! If you're going to yell at anyone here, yell at me Kieran."

If Kieran was going to take out his anger on anyone, might as well be the person who deserved it most, right?
