i get a lot of "common sewing mistakes you're probably making" content on my feed that just makes me wonder if people even read their sewing machine manuals
#''you're probably using the wrong bobbin for your machine--'' I'M NOT? i read the manual! are people not reading their manuals????#''you might be turning the handwheel in the wrong direction--'' again this is LITERALLY in the manual

I know you haven’t talked about kotor in a long while but what’s your favourite segment in kotor 1 and 2 :)
is it weird that the first thing that comes to mind is peragus?? it was such a cool shift from kotor 1 (haunted empty mining facility!) and you get so many great atton moments there (the real reason)
close second is dxun when atton calls you after you leave the ship, because i like when it rains in video games (and when atton talks)
as for kotor 1... it's so hard to say, i feel like i sprinted through it so my memory of it isn't as vivid. if i had to choose a planet, then probably dantooine--excluding the murder mystery segment
#sovo answers#i never like murder mystery miniquests i just cheat them every time#'oh you just had to find this clue that you unlock by doing A B and C--' you've already lost me

was SO hungry sitting at my desk at work like "wow i can't believe i'm already hungry again after lunch, it's only 3 pm, i wish i'd brought a snack," only to remember 10 minutes later that i haven't even eaten lunch yet today
#thank you to my emotional support bottle of blueberry mochi ice cream milk tea that i made yesterday#for keeping me sustained for an extra 2 hours as i just endured hunger for no reason#all my lunches this week are identical so i was misremembering and using the memory of Yesterday's lunch

#tried a pattern for a skort today that's supposed to have extra ease in the hips + even went up an extra size for extra ease#only for it to still be tight on my hips. AUGH#literally i can't even sit in these.... ease where#the pattern designer's body is straight up flat though so honestly idk what i was expecting#clearly what constitutes 'extra ease' for her is like nothing to me#im too tired to troubleshoot it today but i took some pictures so i can think over the fit issues during the week#i'm still intimidated by the idea of fitting pants but off the rack pants don't fit me well either so it's not like i can do much worse

#accidentally stabbed my finger with a pin and bled over the shirt i was sewing 😭#i hate how sneaky those pin stabs are too like you don't even know if it went deep enough to draw blood until you apply pressure on it#i rinsed the shirt out in cold water and now i have to let it air dry (and it's a cotton knit so it'll take A While)#sigh. i was so close to finishing it in a day too

i've already worn this shirt like a dozen times lmaO most successful make so far
finished sewing a shirt and skirt this time!
patterns: Arles Top, La Ciotat Wrap Skirt
fabric: 2 yds cotton/linen for the top, and 3 yds cotton for the skirt. i usually only order fabric after i finish a muslin for a pattern, but this time i was able to use fabric i already had for the skirt. i had a 3 yard cut and a 2 yard cut, and it was pretty satisfying to find that the skirt would use the 3 yards up nearly perfectly :)
mods:
for the shirt, i lowered the neckline a bit and widened the collar; i felt like the default neckline/collar made the shirt look awkwardly small on me rather than loose and breezy
for the skirt, i had to edit the back panel shape so it'd stop pulling across my hips, and i extended the front panels quite a bit to make the skirt fit more like the pattern photo, where the front panel nearly reaches the side seams. i kind of feel like i extended it too much though? next time i might take 1-2 inches off so that the design detail is more visible from the front
also, i added pockets to the skirt! i just cut out rectangles from the leftovers of the 3 yards i had, and used them as-is instead of cutting them into a curved pocket shape. they're like 14" deep though, which unthinkably might be too deep, because it's actually kind of inconvenient to retrieve things from the depths of my pockets. it's not so bad that i'm tempted to fix it, though, i think i can live with it
also also, i added a small hook & eye to the skirt so i can hike the front corner up a bit if it is suddenly, say, 85 degrees out and i'm dying in a stuffy skirt
time:
the shirt took 4 days of work over 2 weeks (1 day to make the muslin, 1 day for cutting the actual fabric, 2 days for sewing the final shirt), so not bad! i probably could've finished sewing the final shirt in 1 day, but my last step was adding the buttons and there's no good way to fix botched buttonholes once you've cut them open, so i let myself sleep and finish it when i was better rested. speaking of buttons, i spent like $9 on a pack of 6 buttons, and only used 4 of them 😭
the skirt took 8 days of work over a different 2 week period (1 day to make the muslin, 1 day for cutting the actual fabric, 6 days for sewing the final skirt), partly because i made one pattern piece too small by mistake and had to undo all my seams up till then to swap it out, but mainly because anything with fabric tape/self ties takes me forever. the sheer amount of cutting + splicing strips of fabric together + IRONING + sewing the ends and sides together that i have to do before i can even attach it to the garment always tires me out
would i wear this outside?: yes, and i've also realized i don't like long sleeves that i can't selectively take off, which explains why i haven't worn the 4 long sleeved things i've made so far. whoops
would i make this again?:
shirt: no, because i don't feel like i need another one? i find it really hard to find fabric that's suitable for a pattern AND isn't see-through AND is in my budget AND is of a material i like, and i also think a plain white is best for these nondescript, closet-staple-type garments, so this is probably the best version of it that i could've made for myself
skirt: WELL… idk, jury's still out on this one. i like that i was able to add huge pockets to it (since then i can put all my stuff in it and go out without a bag or a pocketed jacket), but stuffing all my belongings into my pockets put a lot of weight on my waist, and the weight isn't dispersed very well when the wrap ties are so thin (they're just 1/2"), so it kind of hurts after a while. but that's admittedly a self-made problem
pockets aside, this is my favorite adjustable wrap skirt i've made so far (though i've only ever made one other wrap skirt, the Coquelicot Skirt, which i absolutely hate wearing) but it takes so much fabric. and it's like. if i need to use 3 yards... is this really the garment i would choose to make, a second time? idk. i think i'd prefer to keep trying new patterns rather than make a repeat
overall: i'm glad i made these! i think i'll get a lot of wear out of them, especially as these fall more into the "what i'll actually wear" category than my other projects, which are more "what i thought looked interesting to make". still striving to approach the perfect balance between the two 🥹
#it doesn't necessarily look Good on me always but it's very loose and comfy so it's easy to wear often#the materials were pricey so i'm glad i'm getting wear out of it

#why does the whole world insist on gathering over meals to talk#it's torture for me to withstand 1) having to constantly alternate talking and chewing--like just let me finish eating in peace--#and 2) the inescapable cacophony of chewing and breathing sounds at the table#shared meals are just my food being held hostage in the Irritating Sound Cage#''oh it promotes bonding'' it promotes hatred actually. in me.

Hi sovo! I just wanted to ask if you allow people to print your art for personal use, like hanging it up on a bedroom wall or photo cards? (Not to sell of course I just adore your art)
yeah that's fine! thanks for asking ^^

#kind of want to commission art of radri again but i have to upgrade her outfit first 😭#it's so simplified it needs more. something. like i need to actually figure out the shape of her belt buckles and how her armor works#then it can all be simplified again but in an informed way where you know there's some actual substance behind it

#also working on a skirt pattern from this designer and although it comes advertised with a lot of ease in the hips#i still had to make a FAA (Full Ass Adjustment) (I'm Guessing That's What They're Called) despite objectively having no ass to speak of#not to mention i'd already sized up to the size Above my size in the size chart#bc i'd measured the pattern pieces that were supposedly my size and determined there was no way that size was gonna fit like the photo

#i wish indie pattern designers weren't all skinny.........#I'M SORRY but like even when they offer patterns for a wide size range#they often neglect to size up design features proportionally with the bust/waist/hip increase#like this pattern i'm sewing rn keeps the same exact collar width for all sizes#the neckline does get longer--but the collar *width* stays the same#so the collar looks bigger on smaller sizes and smaller on bigger sizes#and because the pattern designer wears a size 2. guess what#the small sizes get the correct collar proportions and the large sizes get a smaller-looking collar#i was staring at myself in the mirror going huh why is this muslin like. not quite as cute as the pattern pic#and then i photoshopped the collar a little wider and BAM. THAT WAS IT#anyway i'm adding half an inch to the collar now#edit: i just realized the v-neck depth wasn't scaled either AUGH#lowering that by an inch also
