in your opinion, how to never let your trauma turn you into a bad person, or just not let it have a negative impact on you, even though it’s an intense one?

Disclaimer: THIS IS JUST STUFF THAT WORKED FOR ME. I hope it helps. Idk if it's universal or not.

I used to cry and think about the person I could've been if not for the traumatic things that happened to me. How I survived was by making an active deicision to become that person anyway.

There is a famous quote: Freedom is what you do with what's been to you.

I have a lot of trauma. It's something I will always carry, but it doesn't have to define or consume me. Your trauma doesn't define you and it shouldn't.

The key is to define yourself, your worth, and your potential outside of the things that happened to you.

Again, these are just things that helped me:

DBT Therapy. Different from CBT which focuses on talking, finding the problem, epiphanies, etc. I know what my problems are - I need to focus on how these thoughts effect my behaviors, take the actions to help improve my life. If your therapist is not helping you, drop them, and request or find a new one. I know it's extra work, it's draining, it's frustating, but the work is worth it.

You're never obligated to forgive, but do not dwell on the awful people who hurt you. Any time you think about them, they're winning. They have power over you. They control you. Fuck that. You control you.

Focus on your passions, not your goals. Goals can be a prison. If your goal is just to survive in this shitty world, you'll get beat down even more becaue the system is fundamentally rigged.

Passions part 2: Whatever your passion is, whatever brings you joy... go for it. If you wanna write, write. If you wanna sing, but can't carry a tune in a bucket? Find some vocal coaching on youtube/torrents. Literally put any freetime/effort into what makes you happy.

Cultivate friendships and comunity IRL. Talk to the lonely old lady in line at the store. Talk to the mom in the elevator. Greet homeless people, learn their names. Go out with/talk to you your friends, even when you're on the fence about it. Put real effort into maintaining these relationships, even when they're a little draining. I promise you that having a sense of community, feeling like you are part of something and belonging goes a long fucking way.

Do #5 online too! Sometimes people are disabled, or isolated, or locked in, or don't know where to start. Start online.

I did an exercise where I wrote a letter to 12 year old [me]. It helped a lot. Tell yourself everything you want them to know. Tell yourself you did your best. Tell them anything you think they need to hear. Remember you are talking to a literal child. If you need to forgive yourself, forgive them. If you want their forgiveness? Ask for it. Give child-you the care and attention you deserved but never got.

As a black girl who writes xReaders, I think calling them Mary Sues is like saying water is wet. They're supposed to be people you can self-insert. It's okay to wanna get freaky with a fictional character and xReaders bypass messy things like ship drama.

The real problem is so many writers describing them as having white skin, blue eyes, blonde hair, etc.

Then there's stuff like blushing. I use flushing instead or just describe the feeling, ("My cheeks burned,") because your face will still get warm as you flush since it's a vasodilation thing and it doesn't necessarily imply a skin color change) or hair.

I'll have a character grab Reader's hair, but not like, run their fingers through it or anything.

I either write black!readers or don't describe physical traits at all.

I know I want to describe the reader as a black woman because I hate that the reader is always described as a white blonde hair, blue eyed woman. Anyway, what do you think of the plot and do you have any suggestions on how to make it interesting? Please give me your honest opinion.

I think you have a really solid concept! You might wanna add some further bimbofication/dollification? Like he calls her a fuck doll, says he's gonna fuck her until she's numb and dumb, he wants her pliable.

I would think about 1. their relationship and 2. the setting and have it develop from there.

You already said he's her partner, like how long-term? I'm assuing they're exclusive, mostly because I see Kyle as a possessive person. I feel like he's the type of guy who watches guys ogle you while you're out and then fucks you stupid to prove you' belong to him, y'know?
