So weâre told in episode 4 that British intelligence broke the terroristsâ code, but they couldnât let them know they broke the code so they were going to let the plane fly anyway but instead just filled with dead people â now we realize once The Final Problem gets here, that same plane with the same actress from 5 years earlier is now *flying*, presumably they broke the code but didnât leak any information about who knows what. So they know the code and are working around it to trick the terrorists into thinking they have the upper hand, only to snatch it away and win in the end.
But what codes could they possibly know about in Series 4? What did they break without telling anyone?
âThat poster says the secret will be unleashed March 8th! The other posters in the past series were clues, why wouldnât this one be?â
âAn Easter clue would be perfect considering the Christian symbolism in the show!â
âWhat about Chekovâs Gun???â
âWhy is there vanishing elephant glass??â
âWhy ask âis tea codeâ???â
Yeah. Itâs almost like the codes all point to one thing but then it doesnât occur. They know what we know, and are not playing the usual game. That means we should not predict any actual dates or occurrences. If anything extra is to happen, it will be on their time and weâll have no idea. No use pretending we have any semblance of control.

TEH rewatch
ie bloody hell in hindsight itâs obvious what weâre seeing in this episode isnât real
Iâm rewatching TEH after S4, with the mindset that S3 and S4 are Sherlockâs coma dream after he jumped for real from Bartâs rooftop
And. Holy shit! It makes so much sense!
1) The weird âcoffee cup to Johnâs eyesâ transition. We knew that this was taken from @ivyblossomâs âThe Progress of Sherlock Holmesâ. We failed to notice that the fanfic opens on Sherlock dreaming that John has cups for eyes.
2) In the same scene with Lestrade and Anderson, the way the reporters who tell us Sherlockâs name has been cleared are filmed is⌠fucky, to say the least. Glitchy. Thatâs weird.Â
3) The âhow sherlock survived theoriesâ parodies. In all of them, Sherlock is awfully OOC. Why? Because Mofftiss were pointing out that Sherlock surviving the fall and not telling John is, in itself, OOC, because that would break Johnâs heart (which Sherlock knows since ASIB). Sherlock didnât fake his death. SHERLOCK REALLY, ACTUALLY JUMPED, AND IS NOW IN A COMA BECAUSE OF HIS INJURIES.
4) Mycroft as one of Sherlockâs brain hemisphered gives⌠interesting insights into Sherlckâs psyche.
5) Sherlock just canât stop thinking about John touching peopleâs genitals all day as a doctor â aka heâs jealous af of the women John had intimate contact with.
6) Sherlock never says why he didnât tell John he was alive. Hint: thatâs because heâs dreaming, and everyone whoâs seen Inception knows that one way to tell whether you are dreaming or not is retracing your steps as to how you got where you are. If you canât, that means you are either amnesiac, or dreaming.
7) The last restaurant Mary, John and Sherlock visit on the night of Sherlockâs return is suspicious: the lighting is blue. And thereâs a useless blue screen on the far wall. Kinda reminds me of the glowing blue skull painting in s4.
8) Sherlock finds âHow I did itâ, a fake book allegedly written by Jack the Ripper. Hm. The episode itself keeps trying to explain how Sherlock did âitâ (ie faked his death). The answer is right fucking there: he didnât. He really jumped. Heâs dreaming, and his subconscious is trying to get him to realise that.
9) LESTRADE: âPlease, insult away!â. aka Lestrade taking as a compliment something that ought to be taken as an insult. Thatâs so reminiscent of his characterisation in TAB, in which we know Sherlock is dreaming/hallucinating, Iâm crying laughing. We were so blind.
10) Dreamspeak.
11) The off-switch thing. Thatâs just plain unbelievable, because that means anyone could deactivate the bomb. Itâs in the terrorists interest that only they can deactivate it. Hence, rather than a switch, a code would be more credible.
12) Sherlockâs mind-palace is blown out of proportion. Literally. Sherlock recreates a whole train station in his mind. Thatâs way different from the last time we saw him using it (THOB), where there was just text and images and sounds superposed to Sherlockâs hand movements in the real world. And every time the mind palace is used after that, itâs the same. Sherlockâs MP takes over Sherlockâs reality. So it should follow that the reality Sherlock is in, is his own mind.
13) Mary is dressed in red. And wearing earrings. Mary is a red herring (because she doesnât exist and is the dream representation of one of Sherlockâs worst fears: John Watson marrying someone other than him â thatâs literally her name: Mary Watson⌠Marry Watson.)
14) How come the little girl (again!) knows John is in the bonfire before itâs lit, but the crowd around her doesnât. I mean⌠John canât talk, or scream, or anything, soâŚ. Is she a psychic? or something? (Eurus foreshadowing)
15) Sherlockâs parents. His dad doesnât want to get a chain for his glassesâŚ. because itâd be like Larry Graysonâs, a known gay celebrity? And Sherlock says that his parentsâ being âordinaryâ is a cross he has to bear⌠Hm. If that doesnât spell homophobic parents I donât know what does.
16) âSometimes a deception is so audacious, you canât see it even when itâs staring you in the faceâ. Sherlock says, with his own reflection on his computer screen. Now, that obviously refers to TJLC⌠but that could also refer to the fact that Mofftiss have been dropping hints that what we are seeing is not real left and right. And that gets even more obvious in the following episodes.
17) Science fiction heart-shaped bomb. No, really. That thing would look more at home on the USS Enterprise than in a more ârealisticâ show like BBC Sherlock.
18) An abandoned/never actually built train station⌠with the lights on. And live electricity. Iâm skeptical.
19) Sherlockâs explanation of what happened in TRF makes no sense. Sherlock clearly did not know what was going to happen on Bartâs rooftop, and I think that TEH, the whole episode, was his brain trying to find an explanation as to how Sherlock was still alive after jumping, and ultimately deluding itself into thinking Sherlock had planned everything (false memories are an oddly common phenomenon). Which led to Sherlock feeling guilty for breaking Johnâs heart intentionally (although the guilt could also be a sign of his subconscious feeling guilty for almost dying and still causing John pain)
20) Whatâs more, in Sherlockâs retelling of TRF, John never figures out that Sherlock is still alive right after he jumps. But this directly contradicts TRF: the fact that the camera ârights itselfâ and that John gets back up after feeling for Sherlockâs pulse, compounded by the fact that medical personal immediately takes Sherlock inside the hospital, strongly indicates that John knew Sherlock was still alive, because heâd felt his pulse.
21) Sherlockâs parents, part 2 : His dad refuses to buy himself a chain for his glasses because then heâd be imitating a gay celebrity. Mycroft (ie a part of Sherlockâs brain) suffers going through something his parents enjoy but he hates, because he promised them. And Sherlock says thereâs nothing he can do to help. âYou donât understand the pain of it, the horrorâ, Mycroft says through the phone. And Sherlock hangs up on him. Now, of course, this scene is supposed to be funny, because Mycroft is talking about going to a musical (we hear the music through the phoneâs speakers) as though itâs torture, but, remember: on BBC Sherlock, the funny moments are always used to hide something. I read this as Sherlock having homophobic parents (you can look like a nice person and still be horribly homophobic). And I think Sherlockâs parents did something terrible that made Sherlock repress his sexuality. This is confirmed by things in the following episodes (TSOT and TFP come to mind, although itâs all shown through metaphors and Redbeard).
22) Sherlock voluntarily puts on his cap before facing the press  at the end of the episode. Exactly like in TLD.
23) The episode ends on Magnussen watching Sherlock save John from the bonfire, in what later turns out to be Magnussenâs MP. 1) Mind palaces do not work that way, you canât recall something as visually precise as a video and 2) the episode that depicts Sherlockâs return to London ends on a scene that happens entirely in the mind of one character. Whatâs more, this character is a (creepy) Sherlock mirror.

And now letâs say each parallel mirror is like a parallel universe- An alternate ending or a change in the story line.Â
This fits with another post I saw which mentioned the game âClueâ (AKA Cluedo) and how each time you played it the ending was different. The post suggested that Sherlock was like Clue in that there may be more than one ending (which I believe was also hinted at by Gatiss?) The idea of mirrors here could be showing us that the mirrors in Season 4 might be pointing towards another version of the story; another ending to our game of Clue.
(If you know the post Iâm talking about could you please let me know so I can link to it?)
Problematic Promos
Now that some time has passed, I was taking a look back through the promotional materials for Season 4, and I noticed something. I apologize if someone has already mentioned this stuff! I looked around for a meta with this topic, but I didnât find one, so here we go!
I recall that when the promotional materials for Season 4 were released we all sort of commented on how dark everything in the photos appears, what the hair looked like, how the burned out flat photo with just Sherlock and John in it looks like a heart, and how the smiley doesnât show up in the reflection in the flooded photo. I also recall intense discussion about the three photos in the chess themed set, and how the leak of the final photo drew so much attention from The Powers That Be. All of these are valid catches, but I noticed a few other things relating to the promos.
Iâm not sure what they all mean, to be honest, but I do know that everything on this show is deliberate, soâŚ
1.      There are still no photos of Eurus/Sian Brooke in the official photos on the BBC One Sherlock site. Surely by now it would be ok to release some. I mean, Sian Brooke is attractive and well known enough to warrant some photos! They have certainly included her in some of the post season videos. But if youâre looking for a lovely, composed, high resolution shot of Eurus or any of her personalities, youâre going to be disappointed. I think this is weird, especially given that we see both Culverton Smith and Jim Moriarty (and he was a big secret) in the photos.
2.      This photo is NOT of 221B. Look closely.

The smiley is different than the original! Itâs tilted wrong and aligns with the wallpaper differently.Itâs just not the same. I know I have seen a meta on the Miss Me Smiley from this image:Â
The burned out smiley almost looks like a mirrored version of this one, doesnât it?

So what about this bumped out area in the wall in our 221b? Not there in the burned out flat.

Where are the windows on either side of the room? Again, not there.Â

And what about that trim high up on the burned out left wall? Not there in 221b.
The people in this show KNOW their set. This canât be a mistake or something where they thought, heyâŚthatâs close enough.
So what does it mean?
3.      Now on to the seven images that they released the week before the season started. One a day, a right? Burned out flat in the background. I noticed a few things about these images.Â
But first, this image for reference:Â

Every one of these characters is wearing the same clothing as the group shot, but with a coat/jacket added in the individual photos, with one exception.Â
Take a look:
(Gregâs photo is missing from the BBC One Sherlock site. A little odd, given the wind-up they gave these each dayâŚbut anyway.)

Molly.Â
Molly is the exception. Her clothing is completely different under her lab coat.

To me, it seems like this singles her out in some way. Just like they single Mycroft out in another way.Â
Can you see it?

Itâs the smiley again. In each of the other six photos, the smiley moves around, but it is the original smiley from 221b. The size, shape, and orientation are correct.
But Mycroftâs smiley is different.Â
Itâs the strange, new smiley from the burned out flat photo, and unlike the other character shots, this smiley isnât on the 221b wallpaper.Â
I think it may have been @the-7-percent-solution who commented to the effect that if you want to mess with peopleâs heads, just mess with their surroundings. Make things a little bit off, and that will make the audience uncomfortable, and they probably wonât even recognize why. Maybe thatâs whatâs going on here. Or maybe there is some deeper meaning.Â
I donât know for sure, but I do still believe that these weird details are part of a larger plan. The cast and crew are too attuned to the details of the show to overlook errors or do things half-assed.Â
Thoughts?
As always, apologies for tagging the unwilling or missing a tag! Please share with whoever may be interested. Thank you!!

I just wanted to say-
Even if March 8 comes and goes with no new information about a special, another season, or even anything Sherlock related, Iâm so proud of the fandom. Iâm proud of us all for sticking this out and keeping hope. Because by doing that we created stories more real, complex, and perfect, with deeper meanings and more emotion than Moftiss did. From the little we had to work with, we created masterpieces. Not just fanfics and fanart, but also all the theories and ideas branching off of them. Had the fandom been left to google-doc-write the scripts for season 4 together, image what we could have created.Â
So hereâs to hope- that we get some new info on Sherlock, or, if needed, find another day of significance to wait impatiently for. And all of you, continue to be your brilliant selves.
