Also I did this clown outfit for a karaoke night I organized for when @thatmossymushroom was visiting in December, and I was shooting some 35mm (Mushroom took the first photo), and Mushroom took a video of me doing that, so now I've got a video of me taking a photo, and then a photo of them taking a video (@kaillix is also taking a video)

The camera is a Konica Genba Kontaku 28WB, which I've personally taken quite a liking to!

It's been a bit, but a photographer at bodyhack took a couple photos of @kaillix and I. Later, I saw one posted to the bodyhack Instagram page, and asked the photographer for copies, and was given them. You can find the photographer's website here! Can't wait for October to roll around again!

Shot of @kaillix by me, and shot of me by @kaillix
Don't ask how I took it in costume, it was precarious

Here's a video of us somebody took during a costume contest last Thursday at Bodyhack (a monthly recurring trans party in Bushwick)!
This was forwarded to me and I'm not sure who originally took it, but if it was you poke me and I'll credit you!

Aright, so as for how it works, I saw a mothman cosplay somebody did using puck lights, and sorta jacked that idea, but changed a bit cause the beast needs to have a pretty big head to have eyes that huge, so we attached them to a helmet!

Also the stilts are just stock digi-legs. To keep the head size and shape right, I wore the bottom half of a sorta generic cyberpunk mask and then stretched one of those basically morph suit hoods over it, and then our original attachment method didn't work so well and we were running outta time so we just permanently bolted them on (terrible for transport). Not pictured is a massive pair of crutches I used so I could lean on something to take my arms out, cause I've only had about 10 hours of walk time in the stilts so I'm still new to balancing in them (and also with the rounded feet its hard to balance standing still and move my arms). The cloak is just a cloak we seam-ripped the sleeves off of, mangled the hood, attached some fake spray painted leaves, and then attached the arms again but elsewhere and also mangled. So basically its a tanktop mangled open front cloak, but I think it worked pretty dang well.

You can see the whole rig makes my head much bigger, and this is before we smoothed out the helmet with some foam clay and sanding!
Under the cloak I'm wearing these extremely wide leg long-shorts things, they help to hide the paracord holding the foam onto the legs:

Also here's @kaillix again!
The stilts alone bring me to a height of 7' which I think suits the beast really well. He's never depicted digitigrade legs, and generally actually appears pretty humanoid, but I think it works. Next year we probably want to cover them with something though, cause the steel strut look isn't very beast, even if it is very me.

Here's the pile of stuff we used for the rough version, an example of which can be seen here, with me practicing walking and leaning on the crutches to use my hands:
Here you can see the full silts, they come up very high on me (and cause i'm kinda thin I need to wear them with pretty thick foam padding, which makes them extremely warm, might want to find a more breathable solution before next year).

We also did it for a costume contest at the combo trans picnic yesterday, but it was 80 degrees so I had to forego the black bodysuit so I wouldn't actually just get heatstroke. Before then we had forgotten to do a proper 360 of the costume, so the only 360 we have is the weird shirtless version:
The antlers are a little less rigid than the previous post cause I kept smacking them on shit, so next year we're gonna use heftier wire, and also go bigger. Next year my other partner is gonna join us as Greg, and then my overseas lover who comes back next year in time for Halloween will be our woodsman!
Also next year we want to include some sort of temperature regulation system, and controllable LED eyes so we can switch to the colored version, also in some sort of forward directed shape so the eyes look less bulbous and more predatory, cause even if The Beast has "antlers," in the show it has forward facing eyes like a human, and otherwise mostly human features, so I think the eyes only being visible from the very front facing the same direction makes sense, please give further input if you've got ideas, we gotta start early if we wanna deliver on the level i'd like to. I'm extra as fuck and refuse to do anything but the maximum.

So here's my promised cosplay of The Beast with my partner @kaillix as Wirt! For the costume I learned to walk in digitigrade stilts so I could stand at a total height of 8'2". Here's some shots of it in motion:
I had so much fun with this, I'll probably follow up with some more photos / videos!!!

Fresh start
So I did a crazy costume of The Beast from OTGW for halloween and a lotta folks pointed out tumblr would love that, but when I opened up my old tumblr it still said I was 20 and like was distinctly not on theme for the new me (now 23, graduated, and now an aspiring NYC urban legend), so I made a new one: Hello, I am Brass, a non-binary (they/them) queer of the east coast, known for dressing kinda wacky and doing elaborate makeup. A recent example:

But anyway, that's me, hello again tumblr!!!
