Been thinking of how I might view events from Mipha's Grace to TOTK.
As much as I'd like Link to show back up at the end of BOTW, modding limitations make that near impossible. So I've been thinking, *what if* he never comes back?
I think Mipha would end up being a bit of a drifter for a bit. After all she still doesn't have the majority of her memories with her family. Plus she may feel alienated with Sidon having spent 100 years without her becoming a well adjusted adult. That and the Domain seems to have idolized into a near angelic figure.
Plus, what if after her journey she starts to move on from Link?
After drifting for a bit I can see her meeting back up with Zelda and travelling around her for a awhile. Much like how the TOTK Zelda notes go down. They have a lot of common at this point, 100 year old former princesses who basically gave their futures away to fight the Calamity.
TOTK happens and Mipha essentially takes Link's place again in that scenario. She doesn't reclaim her throne as she leaves it to Sidon, he still becomes the Sage in this version of events as well (Mipha still gets the Rauru arm and the Master Sword).
I know one thing I'd like to do for the TOTK mod is have the lightscale trident essentially take the Master Sword's place. I think a ruined version and updated dragon version would be neat. Would fit into the naming scheme of the trident and light dragon as well.
Essentially the point I'm try to make is while my mods will never be explicit in Mipha's romantic feelings. I can see BOTW Mipha's Grace being more geared to the Miphlink ship while any TOTK version I might do might lean more on Zelpha.
Anyways just my two cents.

Low Tide Mishaps
Underwater grottos are a favorite area for zorca children to play in. There are so many nooks and crannies for hiding, and tons of goodies to discover! But there are times when an area is begging to be explored, and a child loses track of time only to find themselves unexpectedly trapped at low tide!
Their mom is usually not too far so it doesn't take her long to discover what happened. Every so often a friendly Hylian is the one to warn the pod of crying child.
It's a common thing that happens, and depending on who you ask it can be a terrifying or funny experience! Adult zorca might reminisce about the day they got stuck somewhere, as if it were a rite of passage. Not much can be done in these situations, but wait for high tide.
New mothers are a bit harder to console though, but how can she not when her baby looks at her like this?

Whew, really tired. Trying to decide what to work on next. I think I'll try messing more with the Skl_root issues before I decide to shelve it or not. Otherwise I'll prep the more mannequins even if I can't get them in game quite yet. I'm also looking into a tool to help with editing the ragdoll but that is also a project that may or may not be successful lol.

Mod progress is going slow due to some technical issues that need a lot of time in the oven.
Mannequins have a index buffer issue that is making everything appear dark textured, they also are not disappearing on purchase despite being rigged to the correct bones for the material animation visibility to take place.
Crouching animations are going to need to take a back seat if I can't figure out the issue between the skl_root and the equip animation. I have a few things to still try but there's over 47 crouching animations that may need manual tweaking.
IRL stuff that is taking away my attention from the project, more work was supposed to be done this weekend during my only real free time but family my husband hasn't seen in years is showing up on Sunday and we also need to go shopping for something I'm putting together for a friend in the modding community who is going though a rough time.
Busy time! Mostly making this post to organize my thoughts.
Now with the Miphlink stuff in August and the recently announced Zine, I'm looking forward to all the stuff everyone is going to do for it! I wanted to have my own portion done for Zora May but I'm not stressing it didn't get done in time.
As a side project, I've been decompiling the ELink2DB file. It seems to contain references to sound bytes. What makes it interesting is it still contains references to individual sound bytes even though the audio track has all the sound effects (minus voice acting) baked in. For example when Mipha walks on Vah Ruta during her ghost scene, the footsteps are included in the audiotrack.

I still actually have to confirm that these ARE sound file references and not just camera angles (that is what the C00 stands for, camera cuts). There are also entries for the pre-rendered cutscenes as well which gives us more insight on how those cutscenes were compiled. Neat!
EDIT: was barking up the wrong tree, these aren’t references to sounds but rather effects (for example Vah Rutas lazer) which makes sense seeing as it’s named Elink! There is an Slink file so I think I’ll dig around there next :)

I really need to get off my butt and figure out how to post to The Cutting Room floor because I've been finding a lot of undocumented references to stuff in BOTW that isn't there yet. Namely like development strings, individual audio clip strings and the name conventions for the DLC stuff. That and Dorephan's weird cut off check in his main text file and the extra terminals found in two of the Divine Beasts.
Fun fact, it appears that all the champions had the _Naked extension on their items. So Mipha was Npc_Zora_Hero_Naked while they were working on her non-champion model :D

I decided to combine their intense relationship with the Lionfish Mipha concept design though Link doesn't have very significant variations in his concept, so I just made him more of a confident and proud character to contrast him with his official version. Lionfish Mipha has a more prickly personality and is overprotective. Naturally her spines are poisonous.
I really like Mipha's official design 'though I do like how unique the Lionfish design is even if it is quite busy to look at.

Its telling me I need to finish my third play through of Dragon Quest Builders 2.
Been reading @sapphire-rb 's stuff on DQB2 development. Been curious about opening it up and taking a look inside and seeing how the memory structure for blocks and items is parsed out.
Didn't get into it in the past since I had it on my switch but now I own the Steam version as well.

A tidbit on Dorephan
So our Zora King has two major text files. Water_Relic which contains roughly 60 of his text boxes containing the questline for Vah Ruta and his post Ruta and DLC text boxes in Npc_Zora003 which contains around 10 or so text entries.
Considering that Water_Relic is one of the bigger event flows (event flows being how BOTW does the majority of its quests in a literal flow chart) I'm not surprised they split the files at some point.
However in Npc_Zora003's event flow I found an oddity. The game checks to see if you have cleared Vah Ruta, and if you haven't...returns a blank text box.
Npc_Zora003:talk100 simply doesn't exist.
I don't believe this is evidence of cut text. Rather I think this is evidence of where they made the split between Dorephan and the Water_Relic event flows.
The text box being labeled as 100 while its brothers start at 0 suggests they cut everything following it and gave it a dummy entry (I used this trick to bypass the text boxes in Vah Ruta in my mod until I fully edited them out).
So what do I think this means?
I think at some part of development, you had the ability to talk to Dorephan directly rather than initiating a cutscene on approach to start the Vah Ruta questline. Very likely the quest was more simple at this point in time.
Npc_Zora003 doesn't need a true false statement with the way its set up, Water_Relic overides everything until the quest is done. That is why I think this was made in a point of time where the cutscene didn't exist.
EDIT: One more note, its also interesting that the false statement just ends, it doesn't link over back to Water_Relic like you would expect. Whoever edited this flowchart at the time knew 100% if you were talking to Dorephan it was either Pre-Ruta or Post-Ruta, no checks.
Fun to speculate, I also found some unused text boxes related to activating an extra terminal in two of the divine beasts I should type up sometime as I haven't seen any other documentation on it.
