Count reprints, later editions of the same book, etc. If you have a copy that includes multiple books in one volume, you can count that, but do not count sequels/etc on their own. You can count ebooks and audiobooks if you possess the files in a permanent way (borrowed and streamed don't count).

if youre against body shaming, then you HAVE to be against body shaming men too.
that means no more micropenis and small dick "jokes".
that means no more neckbeard "jokes".
that means no more "jokes" about moobs / man boobs if someone has told you that it makes them uncomfortable (/ dysphoric).
that means no more mocking men (and women, but i see this targeting men more often) with flat asses.
that means no more mocking men for having long hair.
that means no more mocking men for having a "pedo 'stache".
that means not mocking trans men who dont want to medically transition and respecting their boundaries.
that means not mocking intersex men whose intersex variations you dont personally understand.
be against body shaming ANYONE.
#I guess my question is can you shame people for choices they made#like a neck beard is a choice#T-rump chooses to make his skin that colour#just like he chooses his ties#And when I say shame I mean mock

a lot of stories treat romance like it makes the relationship between two characters self explanatory and to be honest it doesn’t
#Was just trying to do plotting for an rp and every instance of it my partner was like just assuming my character would do all the work.#and I was just like “so your character has all these issues#Won’t tell my character anything and has no real goals?? So this whole thing is on me to create reasons why my character will like yours#and do all the persuasion and work???? Why do you think that will be fun for me to write when you’ve given this character no personality

please write them I want nothing more than to read them!!!
Alright kids say it with me
My thoughts don’t make me a bad person
My feelings don’t make me a bad person
My thoughts, feelings, and impulses only exist inside my head, and none of it matters unless I act on it
Nobody can see my thoughts or emotions
The only things anyone can see and judge me on are my actions
There’s no such thing as a thought crime
thank u

Really good Twitter thread originally about Elon Musk and Twitter, but also applies to Netflix and a lot of other corporations.
Full thread. Text transcription under cut.
#It's so weird#Because I'm literally sititng with nothing to do#And I'm like Nope there isn't enough backlog to make Netflix worth it again yet#maybe when Bridgerton Series 4 comes out

One of my favorite things is modern adaptations that leave people with the same careers they had in the original material, because unless you’re a cop or a doctor that practically never happens.
Irene Adler’s an opera singer. We still have those! They don’t have the same subtext exactly, but nothing is going to because we aren’t the Victorians. She could continue to be an opera singer. I have never seen this happen.
Jonathan Harker can still be in real estate. That’s a job people have. A modern story that still involves Dracula contacting his firm to help him purchase property sounds amazing actually.

"Jews are good at math because they need to count money!"
False. Unoriginal. Boring. Jews are good at math because so much of our lives requires math. A non exhaustive list of things that require math in Judaism that isn't counting money:
-Machzor Math- calculating how many more pages and time there is left in High Holiday services
-Batul B'Shishim- calculating how much is less than a 60th for the case of food contamination that could affect it's Kosher status
-Intercalating the Calendar and determining the Zmanim- thankfully this one was already done for us, but someone did it a long time ago to calculate when our leap years are, how long each month is, and what the halachic times of each day are
-Gematria- the numerical value of different words which is used in all sorts of esoteric practice and understanding
-Fasting math- calculating how much time is left in a fast
-Kashrut math- calculating how much time is left until one can eat meat or dairy
-Candle math- calculating how many candles one needs for their household for Chanukah, especially if there are more than one menorah
-Wine and matzah math- calculating how much wine and matzah one needs to buy for their Seder. We go through a lot.
Bonus, one that actually involves money but isn't the tired "Jews are greedy":
-Figuring out a good multiple of 18 to give as a monetary gift to someone

Of course they should be allowed soda, but the truth of the matter is that soda shouldn't be cheaper then juice. Shouldn't be the thing that you can buy for every meal, moving to the UK really is a shock on that. You just don't have soda with everything, because it's not as cheap. I'm not even saying that you shouldn't have cheap sodas, but you really shouldn't have everything else be cost prohibitive. Soda is delicious, but maybe we in the states need to step back on it too.

i think if you have a crush on someone that isnt into you the same way you should be able to throw up horrible black goo for about 10 minutes to make the crush go away

In my experience as a third culture kid who travels a lot the best indicator that you as a non-x is appreciating x culture is if the locals actively invite you to participate in it with them
Yes, you are allowed to buy those handmade Inuit winter clothes if an Inuk is literally selling them to you. They would not be offering you a price point if they didnt want you to buy and wear them. And you might discover that theyre the best winter clothes youve ever worn because of COURSE they would be if theyve kept this culture warm in harsh winters for thousands of years.
Yes, you are allowed to join those Cambodians in that local holiday theyre celebrating during your visit if they literally invited you to it. They would not have invited you if they didnt want you to participate. And in the process you might learn a lot about a culture you never wouldve interacted with and you can all have a laugh together about your clumsy but genuine attempts at getting your footwork right in one of their traditional dances.
Yes, you are also allowed to ask if you can participate in something from the local culture you are visiting. Sometimes you will get "sorry, thats a closed practice" but in my experience most of the time you'll get "of course, let me show you how to do this!" And in my experience people tend to appreciate when others make an active effort in sharing their culture and wont stone you to death if youre clumsy about it while youre learning. I guarantee that the local children doing all of this for the first time too make the same mistakes you do and they can tell if youre being disrespectful or genuine.
So much "cultural appropriation" discourse really starts to sound like "you cant participate or visit any other cultures if youre from a Colonial Culture and have to stay in your little box and never relate to other people"
#Yeah. Black culture invited me in. And I love a lot of it#But no matter how many people say I can#I don’t have n-word privilege
