In December 1978, Brenda Spencer had asked her father for a radio for Christmas. But come to that day, she was given a .22 caliber rifle with 500 rounds of ammunition instead, which would be used against the children at Cleveland Elementary School a month later.

Brenda had told police, “I asked for a radio and he bought me a gun.” When asked why he might have done that, she answered, “I felt like he wanted me to kill myself.”

Dennis Nilsen would lure his victims into his apartment where they would be murdered by strangulation, sometimes accompanied by drowning in a bucket of water. Following the murder, Dennis would observe a ritual in which he bathed and dressed the victims’ bodies, performed sexual acts on the corpses, and sometimes dissected and dismembered them. Once finished, he would flush the remains down a lavatory. 

Eventually Dennis and the rest of the residence in the building he lived in began to experience severe plumbing problems. This was a huge inconvenience for Dennis, for it prevented him from further disposing of the bodies, so Dennis contacted a state agency to investigate the clog. It was found that all of the flushed remains was the reason it was clogged to begin with. This lead to Dennis’ capture and imprisonment.

Stephen Shaun Griffiths aka The Crossbow Cannibal

The Bradford murders were three serial killings of female sex workers from the northern English city of Bradford in 2009 and 2010.

43-year-old Susan Rushworth disappeared on 22 June 2009, followed by 31-year-old Shelley Armitage on 26 April 2010 and 36-year-old Suzanne Blamires on 21 May of the same year.

Stephen Shaun Griffiths, 40, was arrested on 24 May and subsequently charged with killing the three women.

Parts of Blamires’s body were found in the River Aire in Shipley, near Bradford, on 25 May. Other human tissue found in the same river was later established to belong to Armitage.

No remains of Rushworth have been found.

Stephen Shaun Griffiths, born on 24 December 1969 in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, was arrested and in May 2010 he appeared in the magistrates’ court giving his name as “The Crossbow Cannibal”. At a crown court appearance that afternoon he was remanded in custody until his next court appearance. He made a second appearance at crown court on 7 June via a video link from Wakefield Prison where a trial date of 16 November 2010 was set.

While in custody, Griffiths has attempted to commit suicide on four occasions. On 21 December 2010 Griffiths was convicted of all three murders after pleading guilty. He was given a life sentence.

Jeffrey Dahmer gained a reputation as “the class clown” in high school, acting out in a bizarre or unexpected manner became known at his school as ‘doing a Dahmer’.

At one point, Jeffrey collected money from his classmates in exchange for a show at the mall (what he did before the mall ‘show’ is the second picture above; source: My Friend Dahmer).
