I finally found some free time last week to have a small, late Ostara celebration. I burned my Yule bundle that I kept hanging up throughout the winter, offered honey and whiskey to the Gods, dedicated a bottle of BPAL perfume to Freya, and focused on releasing some of the stress that had been pinning me down for so long. It was a lovely day and a laid back, but very satisfying celebration. I haven’t felt so connected to the earth and the Gods in so long, I’m relieved to have had the chance to center myself once more. I hope the new season is treating everyone well!

College drains so much of my energy and I hardly have any left to use for my craft most days. One more year and I’ll be able to truly dedicate energy to discovering my own path.

I’ve been carving a wand for a friend of mine out of tulip poplar wood, I think I mentioned the tulip poplar on here a while ago when it unfortunately fell after a huge storm. The wood feels very much alive to me, though it hasn’t been connected to a living tree in quite some time. I hope this wand will be a wonderful tool for my friend, once it’s finished. I’m dedicating it to Thor and including crystals and symbols related to water in the construction. I’ll post some pictures when I get the wand finished. Wand-making is something that feels really natural to me, and I wish I could make them more often.

Salted Honey Pie 🍯

An old fashion pie recipe that’s super simple to make and a great Ostara/Spring Dessert! I’m making one for this Easter with my family.

Honey, Eggs, Cream are all Spring Foods. Honey symbolizes sweetness and the rewards of hardwork just like the little bees that work so hard to make it! 🐝

And Salt banishes negativity and is purifying!

This dessert is perfect for getting rid of the stress or worry of Winter and welcoming any sweet rewards from your hardwork in the future this Spring!

Ingredients:

One 9 inch Pie Crust (Store bought or one of your favorite crust recipes)

½ Cup of Melted Butter

¾ Cup of White Sugar

2 Tbs of Cornmeal

¼ tsp of Salt

¾ Cup of Honey

2 Eggs + 1 Egg Yolk

½ Cup of Cream

2 tsp White Vinegar

1 tsp of Vanilla Extract

Salt Flakes for Garnish

Preheat your oven to 350. In a large bowl, mix together your dry ingredients before slowly mixing in your wet ingredients one at a time…. (I never do this and just mix it all together randomly as I go, but it’s up to you.)

Feel free to add a sigil to the base of the pie crust. This is mine -

Pour mixture into your pie crust, it will be liquid and thin; that’s okay!

Cook for 45 to 60 minutes or until the top is golden brown and it starts to bubble.(I recommend 60 minutes on the middle rack. Mine didn’t burn at all!)

Take it out of the oven and let it cool for One hour or more to let it solidify. This step is very important to make sure it isn’t too liquidy. The consitancy should be like Pecan Pie Filling.

Garnish with Sea Salt or Himalayan Salt; any big salt flakes. But regular table salt will do just fine if the others aren’t available.

magick spiced hot cocoa

during the colder months, a cup of hot cocoa can bring wonderful warmth and coziness. you can add a few spices to bring magick into the mug that inspires happiness, healing, and self-love. you will need:

☾ ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (self love and grounding)

☾ ½ cup granulated sugar (granting wishes)

☾ 1/3 cup hot water

☾ ¼ tsp salt

☾ 4 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)

☾ 1 tsp vanilla extract (love, restoring lost energy)

☾ 1 tsp fresh orange zest (abundance and happiness)

☾ a pinch of ground nutmeg (attracting prosperity)

☾ a pinch of allspice (warmth and healing)

combine the cocoa, sugar, salt, nutmeg and allspice with the water in a pot over medium heat. stir constantly until the mixture boils; continue stirring constantly for 1 more minute.

stir in the milk and continue to heat the mixture, without letting it boil. remove from heat and add vanilla and orange zest. serve immediately.

Much to my surprise a spotted cranefly (Nephrotoma crocata) has emerged. I haven’t done anything with this jar recently, the two ferns haven’t grown much and there are a couple of invasive land shrimps crawling about in the bottom. Of all the things to happen I didn’t expect a cranefly to suddenly appear. It’s out of season, another side effect of being at room temperature, but I’ll probably set it free anyway so it can live out its short lonely life…

Id like to propose a Working for this Summer Solstice, the point in our hemisphere of the greatest Light and the greatest Solar Energy, a mass Working directing our energies at our nation’s politics, practices, and policies in hopes of spreading Light and Wisdom…. enough to stop these senseless policies of child abuse, highway immigration stops, the senseless rising tide of racism and hatred towards People of Color (whether our own citizens or not), the general turn towards Fascist Collapse our nation has been falling down in the recent past. We stand dangerously close to becoming, as a nation, the very thing we’ve been taught to fight against and the very thing we historically have fought against.

If we can come together and put aside the petty divisions used to keep us separate, I believe we can fight this turn towards Fascism.

I dont propose a scripted Working; I know that the community I am connected to shares many different working Traditions, and in turn each of the people I am connected to is themselves connected to a rainbow of diversity in their world, and so on through each of our connections… each and every one of us has a different skill set and different things to bring to the communal Table, and each and every one of our remarkable and beautiful Traditions is an expression of the Melting Pot our nation is SUPPOSED TO BE. This is an opportunity to revel in our diversities while sharing Enlightenment and the Light of Wisdom; it shouldnt come from one script or imply there is only one way to be a real American.

Solitaries, Covens, Iles, Houses, Circles, Munansos, Churches, Fellowships, Kingdom Halls, Lodges, Clans, Kindreds… we can all come together in common purpose and need. The Solstice is this Thursday, the 21st. We could easily keep this going with those who may only have time to Work this weekend; we can easily put aside the barriers that stand between us and come together.

Will you join me?

Rather than scripting rites or dictating the things I feel people should pray for, I ask one thing; a common fixation point as a receptacle of our prayers and raised energies, a common symbol we all instantly know and who’s meaning is being degraded with every passing moment.

Here! My favorite herbs to use for a cough are horehound, elecampane, elder flower, and gumweed, but feel free to experiment.

“Good morning“ potion

For when you don’t want your day to cause any problems.

You will need:

black tea for energy and strength to survive the day

honey to sweeten the challenges

lemon to neutralize any negativity

Brew the tea. Add other ingredients. Hold the mug in your hands and chant:

“The rising sun ends the night,

let this day be just as bright”

Close the spell with a smile. You’ve got this!

This upsets me.

It’s littering. Please leave your offerings on something that’s not harmful to the environment. A sea shell, rock or even just on the beach. Please don’t use anything that could cause harm to the ocean or its inhabitants. Thank you!
