Hanahaki Disease, Transformers Version

If you’re like me, you like fanfiction, and the hanahaki au has been coming up more and more. Personally, I really like it, but I’m disappointed by the fact that there aren’t really any transformers versions of it - and I’m guessing that’s primarily due to the logistics of it. Giant alien robots don’t really have lungs, nor do they have plants to grow out of them, so, really, there goes that idea. 

But! Transformers do have sparks! Which actually makes things a lot easier. Consider this: 

Instead of growing flowers, spark energy flares so much that it needs to be expelled, otherwise a bot runs the risk of overheating. Expulsion can come in the form of through vents, through coughing, through opening the spark chamber and letting the energy disperse.

Now, that sounds really pretty, coughing up light and all, but the longer someone is inflicted with this disease, the hotter the spark gets, and it’s a continuous release of energy, internal spark fluid (perhaps there to stabilize the spark, keeping it cool) begins to heat as well. If the bot avoids the object of their feelings, the energy cools, causing crystals to form – which then also have to be expelled. Crystallization expulsion is a lot more painful than energy expulsion, because it’s essentially shrapnel in the body, and it’s tearing at veins and lining, and can get stuck and so on.

Potential ways to fix:

mnemosurgeon can remove feelings, but we all know that stigma about getting that done

If you’re resistant to mnemosurgery, a medic can siphon cooling liquid to help prevent the crystallization, or helps remove crystals, but that’s also invasive and probably requires constant appointments

Admitting feelings, but runs the risk of feelings not being returned, which can cause more pain in the long run

If feelings are returned, there is still a recovery period – buddy, you coughed up parts of your soul. You’re not getting back on your feet that easily.

 Keep in mind, this is just my take on it! Play with it how you see fit!

Ultra Magnus, Megatron's character growth

I love the slow burn building of their friendship.

At first, it's purely "I'm pretty much required to follow you around to make sure you don't kill anyone, but I'm glad we agree on how to handle this."

Eventually though, the two start to play off each other's strengths, try to figure out how to actually work with others around them.

Eventually though they learn how to rely on and trust each other. Magnus trusts that Megatron is actually trying to change, you can see Megatron is actually pretty grateful. That is until...

Megatron disappears, and Magnus almost immediately relapses. The dissonance of Megatron having left literally made him unrecognizable until Rodimus forced him to process the absence.

When Megatron does return, the truth of his absence comes out, it takes a minute but eventually they once again reconcile and you can tell the two genuinely missed each other's company.

It's nice to see how the two encourage each other and how they've gone from intense disdain to fighting tooth and nail for the other's safety.
