I love how other stories have a love triangle where the main character has to choose, but Final Fantasy VII is very clear that dating Cloud is at least a two person job. Team lift per OSHA rules

Me calmly doing my job , my brain standing behind, "what if the only reason why zack survive for so long because cloud, he wouldn't has enough will to escape the lab, but his protectiveness say let me save him before i failed him like i failed my mentor.when zack died he accepted his fate, knowing that he didn't failed cloud.". Now i still doing my work calmly except with spice of angst in my head.

Oh ohhhhhhh

Zack who manages to get him and Cloud out of Hojo's labs knowing the entire time that he's dying. He can feel his body degrading, breaking down with every breath.

It hurts, both physically and emotionally. Because now he knows how Angeal felt, how Genesis felt, when he couldn't save either of them.

But he has Cloud to look after now. Cloud who was so quiet and closed off in so many ways, shy but also almost sweet.

So that becomes his focus. Getting Cloud out, seeing Aerith again.

He uses those two things as touchstones, as motivation to hold himself together through sheer force of will.

And then he makes it to that cliff and he just knows that he'll only be doing one of those things.

But that's okay.

Aerith, Zack likes to think, would understand his choice.

And Cloud? He'll just be Zack's living legacy.

That's worth it.
