Oh absolutely, a big part of DC is to simply choose the versions of characters you enjoy, read those comics, incorporate them into your personal view of the character, and to have a good time. Who needs lore when you can “debate” between wether the buttcheek pockets are made of Kevlar so that they’re bullet resistant or if they’re made of some softer material so it makes that ass bounce.
The goal of any pedantic lore exploration of a non-serious medium isn't "winning the argument" btw, it's usually "how long can we make ridiculous arguments for our chosen position until it stops being funny?" Anyway I'm bringing back the post about Nightwing storing his equipment in his ass pockets so his butt looks bigger than it is

Ok I do see your point, with DC if you have just one power; that shit can quite usually be OP as hell instead of just another ability in your tool belt so in my brain for some reason I thought “oh hey he’s just batshit crazy good at this one ability” and my mind blanked on what his powers were 😅. I came from DC and really didn’t know much about Danny’s power set so that’s my bad dawg

i think everyone has a version of gotham in their heads and i want to slowly draw mine...starting off with one of jason's safe houses.
in the comics it's super clean and modern but in my mind it's a bit industrial too. and no way it's going to be that neat if roy crashes there from time to time - i've seen how roy lives, i don't think he knows how to clean

I’m willing to take my chances
Dash Baxter feels true dread walking up to the entrance of the Wayne Enterprises. He has a interning position in the engineering and design department.
He’s over the moon to have this opportunity and even more overjoyed that it’s nearby his apartment.
Why is he filled with fear with each step towards the secretaries desk then? Well, he is going to be interviewed by one of the Senior Engineers. He knows one of the senior engineers from his hometown.
God he really hopes he isn’t going to be interviewed by Danny Fenton

Something I try to keep in mind when making art that looks vintage is keeping a limited color pallette. Digital art gives you a very wide, Crisp scope of colors, whereas traditional art-- especially older traditional art-- had a very limited and sometimes dulled use of color.
This is a modern riso ink swatch, but still you find a similar and limited selection of colors to mix with. (Mixing digitally as to emulate the layering of ink riso would be coloring on Multiply, and layering on top of eachother 👉)
If you find some old prints, take a closer look and see if you can tell what colors they used and which ones they layered... a lot of the time you'll find yellow as a base!
Misprints can really reveal what colors were used and where, I love misprints...
Something else I keep in the back of my mind is: how the human eye perceives color on paper vs. a screen. Ink and paint soaks into paper, it bleeds, stains, fades over time, smears, ect... the history of a piece can show in physical wear. What kind of history do you want to emulate? Misprinted? Stained? Kept as clean as possible, but unable to escape the bluing damages of the sun? It's one of my favorite things about making vintage art. Making it imperfect!
You can see the bleed, the wobble of the lines on the rug, the fading, the dirt... beautiful!!
Thinking in terms of traditional-method art while drawing digital can help open avenues to achieving that genuine, vintage look!
