Glimpse of a KyoHomu fanfic I started writing
Kyoko stretches luxuriously as she sits on a rooftop overlooking Makitara.
With a soft thump, Homura lands next to her, dispelling her wings in a flash of magic as she sits on the ledge of the building, dangling her legs over the edge.
Kyoko moves to sit beside her, gently laying her head on Homura's shoulder, giving her time to push Kyoko off if she wanted to.
"Mams running late?" Kyoko questions, receiving a slight nod in reply.
Figures, she heard Mami talking about temporarily overseeing an underclassmen’s club while their teacher was sick.
"Mami Tomoe will be held up by other obligations for approximately an hour. She relayed that we can start without her, but make sure not to take any unnecessary risks."
Kyoko frowns at her use of “Mami Tomoe” before lightly flicking the girl on the forehead, receiving a glare in response.
"We've talked about this, Hom. Drop the full name crap, we don’t do that anymore".
A small, embarrassed blush made its way onto Homura before she stuttered out an apology.
"M-my apologies. It's just… an old habit. It won't happen again.”
Kyoko's frown stretches into an amused grin as she nudges Homura on the shoulder.
"Don't worry about it too much. It just… we're closer than that now, yeah? Feels weird if we're talkin like we're still strangers."
Homura lets out a hum of acknowledgement before pulling Kyoko into her arms with a loose hug, placing her head in the crook of Kyoko's neck for a second before finally moving to stand and look over Mitakihara’s skyline.
"Won't happen again, I promise."
Kyoko grins at that as Homura pulls Kyoko to her feet with her.
"We should get an early lead before Mami catches up. Based on the vantage points we've scouted, there should be a large number of Wraiths by the stadium. We should avoid the surrounding area until she arrives."
"Sounds good," Kyoko replied, stretching once more. "What're we waiting for then? Fly me away, Homs!"
Felt an intense want to write an angsty wraith arc KyoHomu fic with some KyoMamiHomu sprinkled in, so here’s a little shred of that. Havent gotten to the angst yet tho. First ever fic but im enjoying making it so far.

KyoHomu Headcanons Pt2.
I’ve scoured every single page on the internet for KyoHomu content, so I’ve reached the point where I just have to make my own. It’s hard out here being a rare pair shipper : ‘) I’m not sure why I believe so strongly in Homura has a biting kink, but I do.
Who Does the Chores
While Homura does most of the chores, reaching that point took a long time. Laundry? “It’s most likely I’ll have to reset this timeline regardless. No point in doing it now.” Making the bed? “Don’t have time to sleep tonight. There’s no point.” Cleaning the house? “A clean living room is enough for appearances’ sake.” Grocery shopping? “There are three convenience stores within a block's range of my apartment. Microwave meals will be enough to sustain me.” Unfortunately, a few of these habits followed her even after her time in the loops ended. Once “the epitome of laziness”(Homura’s words), Kyoko started living with her, it got to the point where even Kyoko had to step in. Homura’s strategy of pushing everything irrelevant to the guest bedroom was no longer working now that it was occupied, and they spent a full day cleaning up her apartment and ensuring everything was in working order. While Homura lacked basic life skills due to spending most of her years in a hospital, it took a while for her to get used to caring for everything around the apartment. Homura has difficulties learning new things, but it was no longer an issue once she had everything down. However, after the fifth time Homura offered Kyoko instant ramen for dinner(Kyoko believed she was being quite generous, letting it slide after the first), she took Homura to the grocery store and made sure to completely stock up her fridge. In regret, Homura could only glare at the receipt, knowing how quickly her food bill would be racked up with Kyoko now living with her full time. While Homura leaves all the cooking to Kyoko and takes care of most of the chores of herself she often has to yell at Kyoko to get her to deal with what’s left.
Who’s More Affectionate
Once Kyoko and Homura officially got together, she became very outwardly affectionate. She greatly enjoys giving hugs, small touches, kissing, etc., but has difficulty being on the receiving end of romantic affection or otherwise. (It took a long time to get used to the constant hugs the rest of the quintet gave her.) Conversely, Homura is much more conservative with her affection. She has trouble being more outward and typically lets Kyoko take the lead, whether it be kissing or otherwise. Kyoko says “I love you” as often as she can while Homura believes it’s better to say only in the most important moments. Due to Homura being less openly affectionate whenever she takes charge, it’s always doubly effective on Kyoko. Privately, Homura has taken a somewhat sadistic pleasure whenever she turns always confident Kyoko into a completely blushing mess when Homura takes the lead. Often smirking to herself whenever Kyoko unravels before her. Homura also has a very large biting kink. While it started as something Homura would ask Kyoko to do during a make-out session, it became a far more intimate gesture for them. Often, when Homura comes home for a rough day or just when she wants comfort, she’d have Kyoko bite down on her collarbone. Not enough to break skin or cause intense pain, but just enough to ground Homura and remind her Kyoko is there with her.
What Are their Favorite Hobbies
Kyoko jokes that DDR was her first ever true love. She loves the game so much that she might as well be married to it. She has a perfect score on every single song in her favorite arcade in Mitakihara, to the point where she has become something of a local legend. People have even started coming to said arcade solely to watch her play. Eventually, she wishes to have every DDR machine in Mitakihara display her name on every high score screen. She’s also made it a personal goal to try every single flavor of Pocky in existence. However, her progress has been slow due to seasonal and location-exclusive flavors being out of her reach. She once tried to purchase a case of an rare flavor from Europe while out of season, which Homura quickly shut down once she saw the delivery cost. Homura secretly loves spoiling the girl, especially since Kyoko has been in poverty for much of her life. But she has to draw the line somewhere.
On the other hand, Homura enjoys making bombs curling up with a book. In the living room, she’s slowly built up quite a large library in the bookcase that holds up their TV. She typically avoids the fantasy genre unless it’s something Madoka heavily recommends, wanting a nice escape from their magic-filled lives. She usually prefers reading nonfiction and history. She has, however, developed a very guilty pleasure of reading unbelievably cheesy romance novels that she hides in the back of the closet in their now shared bedroom. Unfortunately, Kyoko eventually found out and made it a habit to tease her about her hidden taste for romance novels.
Once Kyoko and Homura started dating, they spent more time finding overlap between their interests to make dates out of. Surprisingly, Homura found out she quite enjoyed their arcade dates. Homura is incredible at the two-player zombie shooters that litter most arcades, and she and Kyoko have a very fun time dominating them. Though Homura’s favorite activity is easily watching Kyoko play DDR. She’s nearly entranced when watching the girl play, especially when it’s a very difficult song. The sparkle in Kyoko’s eye, the pure concentration she has, and Homura’s favorite, the brilliant smile she wears, with the only descriptor ever coming to Homura’s mind being utterly radiant. The way Kyoko often tries to make her movements as seductive as possible when she knows Homura is watching makes it even easier on the eyes. They’ve also made it a habit of watching horror movies on the weekends. Nothing they watch can really scare them, and the fantasy horror can even cause them to fall asleep in each other's arms while watching the movie. Sayaka and Mami are horrified by this habit of theirs, while Madoka finds it quite relatable. Homura also tried to get Kyoko to read with her one time. It took less than five minutes for Homura to feel Kyoko’s hands slip under her shirt. Homura has decided that reading is a solo activity.
What Are their Largest Issues
Counting the number of issues these girls have would be like counting the grains of sand in a desert. Most of Kyoko’s stems from what happened to her family and grows from there. Kyoko still entirely blames herself for the deaths of her family, even if she doesn't say it much due to knowing it upsets Homura. Homura has somewhat given up on trying to get Kyoko to accept that what happened wasn’t her fault and has focused more on getting the girl to forgive herself. While she firmly believes Kyoko’s father to be at fault, she holds her tongue, knowing it would upset Kyoko to speak ill of him even if he is the one who murdered them. While Homura believes it’s not right to speak ill of the dead, she still occasionally curses Kyoko’s father when she’s alone. He left Kyoko with lifelong trauma, an orphan, homeless, and with an eating disorder after all. He doesn’t deserve that courtesy. Thankfully, Homura and the quintet have been able to help significantly with Kyoko's issues. Though the hardened and immoral magical girl persona she had adopted as a defense mechanism can often resurface. As well as the self-hatred, guilt, and self-doubt that never left her in the first place. She’s still had difficulties opening herself back up. She scared she’ll fuck up again and lose them all. It’s a thought that scares her more than ever now, with how much progress she has made with them. She’ll always be the one who remains. Even though she lost her right to live The nightmares she has about her family’s death don’t help this issue either.
Homura. Where do we begin with Homura? Abandoned by her parents at a young age. Tossed away like broken goods due to a heart condition that was out of her control. Spending most of her life in a hospital without a reason to live on. Getting a glimmer of light in her life, only to see it and everything she cares about ripped away from her again and again and again and again. The effects haven't left even after she got out of that hell. The self-hatred only got stronger. How many times did Madoka die due to Homura’s own selfish wish? How many times did she watch Kyoko give up her own life for the sake of someone else's? How many times did Sayaka fall into the throes of despair? How many times did Mami lose herself to the reality of a magical girl? How did she treat them? Pawns to be used. Weapons to be honed. Lives to be discarded for her own goals if it was necessary. She’s a devil. On her own part, Kyoko tried her best to help Homura forgive herself as well. Homura broke down when Kyoko told her she forgave her for one specific timeline that seemed to plague Homura’s nightmares. Homura still has breakdowns often. The memories of the pain and suffering she endured consumed her at times. The guilt of what she had done herself and the rejection that she deserved the right to be happy. Treating her friends and lover coldly so that they stay away from her. So that they didn’t get near a demon. It’s taken a lot of effort to make progress with Homura. Due to her and Kyoko suffering from quite a few of the same issues, they were doubly effective in helping each other. Knowing the best way to soothe and calm each other, even if Homura still doubts whether she even has the right to be with the girl. Together, they’ve been able to heal the wounds that plague them. Even if it takes an eternity, they’ll do it together.

KyoHomu Headcanons.
Who Cooks
Kyoko does all the cooking. Homura doesn’t have much of a relationship with food. Due to living on bland hospital food for most of her life, meal times were never something important or something to get excited about. Once the loops started efficiency was essential. Quick microwave meals and instant ramen flooded Homura’s fridge over any home cooking or even takeout. Kyoko is appalled by this and has set out to right this wrong anyway she can. She always cooks food for the both of them whenever she has time, using ingredients purchased with Homura’s credit card. Kyoko is quite a good cook, having been used to cooking with her father before her family’s death, and has slowly but surely made Homura appreciate food more. Homura says her cooking is better than any restaurant they’ve gone to, the fact that it was made solely for her as an act of affection definitely improves the flavor though.
Who’s the Jealous One
Kyoko gets jealous while Homura gets possessive. I.e Kyoko gets annoyed when Homura gives attention to other people, while Homura gets annoyed when Kyoko gets attention from other people. This doesn’t happen much when it comes to the rest of the holy quintet but outside of them Kyoko and Homura can easily start acting up.
Who’s the Big Spoon
They switch, but usually Kyoko is the big spoon. She’s a fair bit taller than Homura, so naturally Kyoko comes to rest her chin on the top of Homura’s head. Kyoko is terrified of losing anyone else. Being able to hold onto Homura and knowing that she has Homura and won’t let her go brings her comfort as she falls asleep. Homura, on the other hand, often just enjoys the comfort and security of having Kyoko hold her. Kyoko isn’t quite as touch starved as Homura is however she’s still pretty damn starved. Kyoko will never admit to this, however, so Homura often forces her to be the little spoon under the guise of wanting to be the one to hold something. But in reality, she just wants Kyoko to feel loved and safe like she does when the roles are reversed. Kyoko really enjoys it, but once again will never admit to it.
Who Made the First Move
Kyoko had been pining after Homura for a longgggg time. Originally, she just dropped light hints before getting more overt about sharing her feelings. Homura chose to pretend not to notice her hints or moves for various reasons that she tried to justify to herself. First, it was because she was getting used to life without being stuck in the loops. Then it was because she simply wasn’t in the headspace for a relationship. Then she told herself it was because she and Kyoko aren’t compatible. Then she told herself she was happy with their current relationship and didn’t want to take a chance on ruining it. Eventually, she ran out of excuses and addmited to herself she was just lying to herself because she was scared. Homura decided to experiment with her feelings, still terrified of committing to an actual relationship with the red head. Her experiments included lingering touches here and there, more drawn-out hugs, more words of affirmation. However, she would still pretend not to notice when Kyoko made advances. Her actions greatly confused the redhead, who thought she was finally making progress with the raventte, only for it to seem like she was still getting nowhere. Progress would only be made on Homura’s terms. More cuddling, maybe even an occasional kiss on the cheek. Only for Homura to shut Kyoko down when she asked how she felt about her. This would build upon a large amount of existing tension that was threatening to burst. This tension eventually turned into a full-on fight over something negligible that wasn't related at all to the root of the problem. While yelling at each other, Kyoko would finally bring up how it felt like she was just a toy to the raventte. Something to just play with for some entertainment. A toy who was always available to Homura whenever she pleased and would take anything Homura would give her. Homura, in the heat of the moment, would respond that she’s not even good enough to be a toy before listing any flaws about the red head that she could throw at her and at the end of her sentence would tell her “I can’t believe I fell in love with an idiot like you”. Kyoko would pause upon hearing those words, and all the anger in her would immediately be subdued. Homura would realize what she had just said, all the fight she had, and she left before Kyoko pulled her into the living room so they could talk about what had just occurred. They’d talk about Kyoko’s feelings of inadequacy and insignificance and Homura’s worries about a relationship and moving forward. They’d end the night off by Kyoko officially asking Homura to be her girlfriend, with Homura responding with a yes before Kyoko pulls her into a kiss.
Who Has More Nightmares TW for lots of stuff
Homura typically has more. The main one she’d have was the sight of the quintet’s bodies lying on the ground, with Madoka’s directly in front of her. Walpurgisnacht’s cries thundered in the background as a bloody rain would fall around her. However, most of them were dispelled once the two started sharing a bed. Unfortunately, a nightmare of Homura’s biggest regrets from the loops began to surface. A tired Homura would be fighting inside a witch's barrier. A shot from one of her pistols put the witch to rest. The witches’ barrier began to crumble, and from a blind spot, a massive chunk of rubble came crashing down on top of her. Homura was unable to react before a flash of red would go behind her, Kyoko pushing her out of the way before the rubble came down right on the red head. Homura would look back to see Kyoko crushed by the wreckage. Her body was bleeding out from under the rock. Kyoko has just saved her life. Kyoko was still alive, her arm outstretched, and her face held a pleading gaze. Homura remembered Kyubey was hovering around Madoka before she had entered the barrier, and worried Madoka would make a wish due to Sayaka’s recent death. Homura began to run to where she last saw Madoka as the barrier collapsed around her. She turned her head to where Kyoko was, and her eyes widened. Kyoko had stopped trying to reach for Homura as tears started flowing. She had accepted, no, expected that Homura would never even bother saving her. Despite this, she still threw herself into harm's way in hopes of protecting Homura. Before running back to Kyoko, Homura would find Madoka and see that Kyubey was nowhere near the pinkette. By the time she made it back, she saw Kyoko’s crushed body. Homura falls to her knees, realizing she had thrown away Kyoko’s life for nothing. That Kyoko had saved her, and in turn, Homura left the girl to die alone. Homura makes eye contact with Kyoko’s cold, dead eyes before the nightmare ends, and Homura wakes up violently shaking. All she can do is turn to hold the red head, sobbing out that she’s so sorry, that she doesn't deserve Kyoko, that she loves her, that she’ll make sure she’s safe forever. Kyoko usually wakes up in a dazed state. While she never knows what Homura is apologizing for, she will hold and kiss Homura regardless until Homura has calmed down.
For Kyoko the same memory constantly repeats. Her father was standing over the bodies of her family. He killed them. She killed them. He was a demon who twisted people's hearts. She was a demon who twisted people’s hearts. He was a selfish monster who couldn’t accept his failure. She was a selfish little girl who put her desires above her family. All that awaits him is hell. She will burn in hell. Because she is a witch. Kyoko’s eyes widen as her father takes his own life. His body collapses to the floor. Her mother, father, and her beloved little sister all lay together. Their blood mixing together in one crimson pool of his doing of her doing. She reaches for the blood-covered blade. She deserves to die. She’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch, she’s a witch. She pulls back. No. Her father left her alive for a reason. She had committed the greatest sin. He killed her whole family She killed her whole family. It was his fault It was her fault. Her father was so righteous. He was an incredible man. He was a monster a savior. He kept her alive because she deserves to suffer for what he she had done. She stops reaching for the blade. She turns around and runs away. Leaving the church she loved so much. She doesn’t belong in the house of God. She made a wish made a deal with the devil after all. Her fathers words echoed in her head once. “You’re a witch”
Kyoko does not have the same violent awakening as Homura. Instead, she whimpers quietly as she cries in her sleep. However, Homura is a much lighter sleeper than Kyoko and will wake up in response to the noise regardless. Homura will quickly wake up Kyoko, who will gasp upon being pulled out of her nightmare. She’ll start crying out, apologizing to no one in particular, before Homura can get her to calm down. They’ve had nightmares enough times where they knew what the other was dreaming. Homura whispers sweet nothings into her ear as she tells her it wasn’t her fault. She repeatedly tells her, “You’re not a witch,” until Kyoko believes it. Homura pulls Kyoko’s head into the crook of her neck, holding her close.
