i feel like the spud hut situation is a bit blown out of proportion...

what noah said was insensitive/derogatory but its not a slur, besides he's playing a character...

also in context of his other controversies this is SO minor

I don't think it's been blown out of proportion at all. a lot of people in the lesbian community have been very, very offended by what he said (and the fact that it was readily in his vocabulary in the first place) and no one should be speaking over or invalidating that. some people do consider it a slur, a lot of historical websites say it is one, but also some people and sources say it's simply an offensive thing to say. just because it doesnt affect you doesnt mean it doesnt affect others.

either way it's an incredibly derogatory word used by a cis straight white man as a "joke" and it shouldn't seen as just be a flash in the pan. and his controversies dont need to be weighed against each other, it's not a competition. the idea that "this is fine because it's not as bad as the others" doesnt make it less damaging to the community it's hurting. and him "playing a character" means nothing. that excuse has been worn out by so many white male comics who do offensive things. we can retire that. you can be funny without saying slurs, it's very easy! noah was the one who chose to say it- it was his choice so he gets the consequences of his actions.
