made my jam. tasted correct before the processing step so that's a good start. mera clearly enjoyed picking berries even more than i thought because he's plotting a??? berry heist???? so i can make more
also made a possible misstep because i decided to use 1 liter jars and you're not *typically* supposed to do that for stuff like jam but my processing time likely made up for the size
ALSO had to just explain to mera that you don't typically gift full liter jars of jam to people. 'our neighbor used to gift us liter jars of apple sauce' 'we have liter jars of honey!' Do I Need To Explain To You The Difference Between Jam And Literally Any Other Canned Food
#spiced#like dude it's a spread most people will use exclusively for bread you don't need a full liter unless you're me and a freak for saskatoon#and now we have FOUR#if i make more i might borrow coyote's family's food processor because it's a little more chunky than i think i'd like

Mera was decidedly not excited to go berry picking and all in all seemed resigned to the task. Fast forward to when i get up and i ask how berry picking was and Coyote shows me pictures of Mera deeeeep in the berry bushes. He said it was pretty fun

tomorrow (today; it is 3:42 in the AM) we're intending to go to a local orchard to pick saskatoon (FUCKING SASKATOON BABEY BELIEVE IT) and i was telling Mera that the timing might be inconvenient for me to attend because of my sleep schedule and tired+heat+doing something menial might be a bad combo, so if worst comes to worst they can just pick the berries without me. and he went :[ but you really wanted to-
No. I want to make JAM. all i care about is making JAM with those tasty little bastards. i've been waiting 5 fucking years to make this jam my involvement in picking the berries is a non-essential i'd buy them right from the orchard if it wasn't u-pick exclusively. i want to make JAAAAAAAM

what ppl defending kids on ipads don’t seem to understand is that there are other ways to keep kids occupied. my mom had a whole bag full of little toys and games for me to play with while waiting in lines at disney world. once your kid is like 7 or 8 they can read a book. they can color. or they can literally just sit there and imagine things. i did that a lot as a kid.
#at this point in my life a large part of not wanting kids is not wanting to deal with other parents or their children#like its one thing when i personally have to do it but to subject a child to peers like some kids ive seen and heard about#i mean fuck when i was a kid i thought there was something wrong with kids i went to school with/their parents#so if i imagine my child self around kids like that that dont know how to color or dont participate in reality really#even if i had a kid that was nothing like me its just too strange#especially if my child felt alienated because they were so different as a result of not being raised that way#im rambling i dont plan on having kids anyway but its all weird to think about

Me: Can you get me the scissors and trash? We need to cut my tail (long piece of hair in the back of my head). It's too long this time and it's bugging me
Coyote: Aw, that's too bad. Well, if we don't crop it they'll fuck you up in the dog fighting ring so it's for the best
#spiced#soon as i had it cut i moaned 'aaaaaagh sweet uniformity' which is a little more autistic than i meant to be

DYSCALCULIA TOOL ALERT!

This is an acrylic magnifying glass with a green strip in it that helps you read long strings of numbers! It's been known for a while that putting a colored filter over pages can help people with dyscalculia read numbers without them flipping places, but this is the first time I've seen something so simple and accessible. I put it on some test numbers and my eyes didn't feel like they kept wanting to jump around all over the number. I can keep this on my desk and use it on paper, or hold it up to my monitor to read long numbers at work! It may help people in other ways as well, this is just what I bought it for and I already love it!
I found it at a Daiso location, but there are probably others online.
Spread the word!
EDIT: It's also like $2, so pretty much anyone who needs it can afford it!
