“Get behind me!” Wanda yelled, shielding the girl with her forcefields. There was a giant robot on the loose and Wanda was trying to protect passerby.

   “Yeah! Yeah, we can just look it up– books would take..way too long, and I’m pretty sure there’s nothing in the local library that’s gonna give us good info on parallel universes.” Although, he doesn’t know if the INTERNET is going to offer them anything helpful, either. It’s not as if this sort of thing is COMMON, and he doubts they’ll be able to find much.

   Peter bites the inside of his cheek following her question, unsure. If it had been before the Blip…but it’s been like this for awhile now, he’ll have to figure something out. 

  “I…don’t know. I mean– I can probably get in contact with some of the Avengers, but I dunno how much help it would be. I’m pretty sure none of them have dealt with multiverse stuff before. I’m guessing we have to figure out what caused this and how to reverse it.” 

Gwen groaned, audibly frustrated by the situation they were in. She was no scientist, but a musician. And hell, it seemed like she was going to miss that gig on Friday. It took a long moment of silence to collect herself, but once she did, she curtly nodded.

“Alright, if we’re on our own, then we have to find somewhere to start. What do they do in MOVIES when stuff like this happens?” She mused aloud. Her feet had started pacing her about the room.

Tunes blasting through her headphones, Gwen’s spider-sense barely registered before the red-haired woman’s words reached her. Her eyes glimmered with bewilderment as the stranger erected a forcefield around them, deflecting the robot’s assault. Gripping her backpack, Gwen’s eyes darted around to find a place to suit up. In this chaos, fully suiting up may not be possible, but she may be able to don her mask and shooters without anyone noticing.

“Thanks!” she shouted over the panicked cries of the civilians. “I... I can help!”

And she was absolutely correct. He just felt like being dramatic, unsurprisingly. 

“I doubt Fishface left anything too revealing behind, but the memory component is still intact,” Miguel said, tossing a small drive in Gwen’s direction. “Knock yourself out.”

Truth be told, Miguel wasn’t after info. He was after scrap. Tech wasn’t much his forte either, but after a rather traumatic incident, he made sure he knew how to make emergency repairs to his gear. Was trapped in an alternate future. Nearly got turned to paste by the Hulk. Not particularly fun.

“Know a place nearby with better lighting, by any chance?”

Gwen frown; she should have brought a backpack. Nonetheless, she held onto the drive to take with them. A pondering finger tapped her cheek as she tried to recall the area. The last time her and the Janes’ had been in the area there had been a massive carnival, nothing around for miles. Though, they did pass by a small town or two along the way.

“There’s a small town or two nearby. We could always go lurk about, but we are kinda suited up.”

Peter bites the inside of his cheek, somehow feeling guilty, even though there was no way he could have known. But if he just kept his mask on, he wouldn’t have to…remind her of all that.

   It’s too late now, though. And he doesn’t want to press any further. 

“Right…yeah– yeah, okay, as long as you’re sure.” He nods– they DO need to figure this out, after all. 

    He moves closer towards the bed, but doesn’t sit, instead absentmindedly fumbling with a few things strewn about his room. “Not first hand or anything, I mean– I KNOW some stuff but all of that is theoretical. There’s gotta be a way this works ‘cause if there’s multiple dimensions that means there’s an eternal inflation system, and it’s gonna be hard to get you back– we could probably read up on some stuff?” 

“Not like from books, right? You  mean, let’s Google some things?”

Gwen tried to clarify because the thought of venturing out to a library and rummaging through dusty book stacks made her want to nap. And, on that thought, what the hell was an eternal inflation system? She pressed a hand to the inset corners of her eyes and rubbed. All this thinking, and the situation, was becoming too much.

“Do you know anyone that we can  talk to about this? Or even run a  weird theoretical idea by?”

“It’s still plenty alien,” he laughed as they walked towards the more centralized area.  “These are all the shops,” he told her.

Gwen peered into the shops with awe. For such a different species and culture, these items seemed so mundane and normal.

“They’re trinkets; just like you’d find in New York.”
