seriously y’all need to just say white people atp bc most Black people do not and have not supported bullshit wars overseas
it's very easy to convince north americans to support war overseas, like they don't increase taxes for war anymore they don't draft civilians there's like negative risk that whatever war would actually be brought onto north american soil, so much of war is drones and bombs and other tech and the people powering them are sitting somewhere relatively safe just pressing buttons, and those who are actively fighting are usually private military contractors/mercenary orgs as well as special ops so it's not like most people are scared of their kids going overseas and dying. it literally doesn't impact north americans at all in terms of like daily life changes or impacts whether or not we get involved, and people are so miserable that theyre trying to put food on the table and keep their job and trying not to die of covid that it's even worse now than it was 20 yrs ago. so it's easy for someone sitting on the couch who tunes into CBC or CNN or whatever to see like their 6pm news coverage or read a couple articles every week and go "oh yeah sure I guess I support this war in wherever. those people over there sound bad so yeah we should stop them" and not think anything further, and anyone who criticizes this view is like. clearly a bad person cause that guy over there is bad and we're liberal democracies, whatever like marvel avengers shit people think our countries are, human rights etc when in reality wherever we go we only cause more pain and suffering and the people in power are entirely profit motivated
not even mentioning how many north americans don't see people overseas as actual human beings... and the new liberal thing is twisting it around so like if you don't support war you're actually the racist one and you're actually the one who doesn't see people as human beings and like. we should bomb wherever cause theyre lgbtphobic or hate women, as though the us and canada aren't just as culpable in systemic misogyny and homo/transphobia and other forms of bigotry. as though any of the people in power actually care about lgbt people or women's rights or anything when they don't give a fuck about the people in their own country suffering. its such a mindfuck

When Steve had initially found out about a movie theater you can go to in your car he was over the moon.
When he was a kid he could barely go to the movie theater at all, scraping together pennies to go see The Wizard of Oz just one more time. But he did love the movies; all the bright colors, the acting, the orchestra playing at the beginning, it was truly amazing. So of course when Bucky asked if Steve wanted to go to the drive in he said yes.
They didn’t even care what they were going to see, just happy to have the experience. When the two pulled into the outdoor theater in their pickup truck Bucky had borrowed from Stark for the occasion, Steve was practically vibrating in his seat, he was so excited.
“I don’t even think I’ve been to the movies since I went on ice, Buck! And you can watch it from your car , this is just. It’s just so cool.” Steve calmed himself for a moment. “Sorry, I’ve probably been talking your ear off the whole time” he chuckled a bit at his own child-like enthusiasm.
Bucky smiled at Steve as they backed into a space, the flatbed in the direction of the screen. “Don’t be. Seeing you happy makes me happy. I’ll go get the snacks and the little speaker thing.” he pecked Steve’s cheek and set off for the concessions stand.
The former assassin couldn’t keep the dumb grin off his face as he approached the stand, still basking in the glow of his wonderfully adorable husband. He may or may not have freaked the poor ship attendant out a bit, but that’s okay. Anything for Steve.
As Bucky walked back to the car the previews had already begun playing and Steve could be seen from afar watching the screen intently. Quickly tossing the snacks in the back of the truck and pulling out his phone, Bucky snapped a pictures a few feet from the car, happy to have nice photos of his husband who was currently pretending he didn’t see the camera for the sake of the photos.
“C’mon, let’s lay the blankets out,” Bucky kissed Steve’s cheek once again and grabbed the blankets from the backseat. He bundled a few up into a makeshift pillow and lauded the rest out for the both of them to lie on. As soon as he was done Steve flopped down onto the flatbed, immediately groaning in pain from the harsh metal.
Bucky laughed. “Yeah maybe don’t throw yourself onto a metal vehicle?” Steve flipped him off. “Love you too, honey.”
Bucky sat down next to Steve like a normal human being and wrapped an arm around the other man, cuddling him close. Steve huffed, wriggling around until he got comfortable practically in Bucky’s lap, his legs thrown over the man’s legs and his arms drawn up to his chest.
They stayed comfortable like that as the movie played in the background, occasionally exchanging sweet kisses and snarky comments about the film, and it was enough. The perfect kind of relaxing night that brings in nothing but good feelings.
For Steve, things like this had always been exciting. Considering the fact that he missed 70 years worth of living it was to be expected, but it wasn’t any less adorable to Bucky. If the man was being honest, he was barely watching the movie at all, content to just see the pleased look on Steve’s face the whole night. The two ended up staying for a second movie, being both too lazy to get up and having way too much fun to leave. And neither of them wouldn’t have it any other way. And so what if the drive-in staff had to personally escort them out, they were national icons. National icons that happened to plan extensive date nights at the drive-in every week from then on.

““I die in Iron Man,” says Sayed Badreya, an Egyptian man with a salt-and-pepper beard. “I die in Executive Decision. I get shot at by—what’s his name?—Kurt Russell. I get shot by everyone. George Clooney kills me in Three Kings. Arnold blows me up in True Lies…” As Sayed and Waleed and the others describe their various demises, it strikes me that the key to making a living in Hollywood if you’re Muslim is to be good at dying. If you’re a Middle Eastern actor and you can die with charisma, there is no shortage of work for you. […] “Were you doing all that boozing because you felt guilty for playing terrorists?” I ask [Ahmed]. “There was an element of that,” he replies. “There was an element of not working between those parts. And then I had an epiphany. I called my agent: ‘Hey! Don’t send me out on these terrorist parts anymore. I’ll be open for anything else, but not the terrorist stuff.’ ” Ahmed pauses. “After that, she never called.” “How often did she call before then?” I ask him. “Oh, three or four times a week.””

I just. I don’t like this view of “millennials vs Gen Z”. This is NOT supposed to be a competition of who got fucked over the most and who’s “actually fighting back”.
Millennials are fighting back just by surviving in a job market where the minimum wage doesn’t cover the living cost. Millennials are awesome at “killing” the diamond, golfing and napkins industries. Millennials are using the internet to make sure things that corporations want to keep in the dark are exposed. They’re open LGBTQIA-friendly business, they’re supporting each other with online donations so everyone can survive this shitty economy.
And the Gen Z kids? The Gen Z kids are rad. I remember a post about something like the millennials making a collective promise to never become a disenchanted generation that only criticizes the next one and I want to point out that this “millennials vs gen z” trend is trying to do exactly that: split us apart. Prevent millennials from being the older siblings that teach the younger siblings to throw a good punch and turn them into the annoyed adult complaining about “those kids” on their lawn. We are the two groups that grew in a connected world of information. We are two very unique generations.
I think that it’s our duty for us millennials, as a disrespected, underpaid, very angry generation to stand up by our younger siblings, and fight together the oppressive systems that brought us all to this point.

Common signs that an autism resource is bad
Person-first language (”people with autism”) The autistic community are very vocal about preferring identity-first language (”autistic people”) over person-first language (”people with autism”) so use of person-first language in an autism resource shows a lack of contact with the autistic community/an unwillingness to listen to autistic people.
Mentions of a supposed cure for autism. There is no cure for autism and many of the proposed “cures” are both dangerous and abusive. Resources and organisations who try to sell you a cure are either knowingly scamming you or very misinformed about the reality of autism.
Advocacy for finding a cure for autism. The majority of the autistic community don’t want a cure for their autism - they want society to change so that autistic people can be accepted, respected and included as they are. Advocacy for finding a cure for autism shows a lack of contact with the autistic community/an unwillingness to listen to autistic people.
Functioning labels. Functioning labels (“severe autism” vs “mild autism”/”high-functioning” vs “low-functioning”) are at best useless and at worst harmful and the autistic community doesn’t support the use of them. Use of functioning labels in an autism resources shows a lack of contact with the autistic community and a lacking understanding of autism.
Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks is a very harmful organization which isn’t supported by the autistic community. Positive references to Autism Speaks/connections with Autism Speaks shows a lack of contact with the autistic community and an unwillingness to listen to autistic people.
ABA. ABA (”Applied Behavior Analysis”) is an abusive therapy which isn’t supported by the autistic community. Positive references to ABA shows a lack of contact with the autistic community and an unwillingness to listen to autistic people.
Claims that vaccines cause autism. Vaccines don’t cause autism, this has been proved over and over by various independent studies. Claims that vaccines cause autism shows a lacking understanding of science/a lack of scientific objectivity.

Unarmed Black Man With Hands Up Shot By Police.
Charles Kinsey, 47, a behavior therapist from South Florida was shot in the leg three times by the police in North Miami while laying on the ground with his arms up and trying to help his patient with autism who had run away from a group home.
It all started when someone called 911 and said there was a man walking around with a gun. However it was Kinsey’s patient who was sitting on the ground cross-legged, playing with a toy truck.
Charles got shot by police despite telling them he was only trying to help his patient.
The police shot him, handcuffed him and left him on ground bleeding.
North Miami police have not released much information at all. They haven’t released the officer’s name, they haven’t given us an update on the investigation. However, they did say that the state attorney is now a part of this investigation.
