Who said i missed you? {May + Giles}

May was sitting at the edge of the rooftop, looking down from the height, her feet dangling off. Giles had discovered the place during his first year, and had taken her up here the second she got to the academy. They had many other secret hide-outs, on great heights, all over the academy, but this was her favourite. 

She hadn’t been up here since they’d broken up, but she was exhausted because of all the training and needed a break from the world. There were days when she missed Giles like crazy, not even her ex-boyfriend Giles, just Giles. Her best friend since she could talk, the person who knew everything about her and how to make her feel better, probably one of the only people on the planet who could even tolerate her constant chatter and wit. 

Suddenly she heard a noise behind her, cursing herself for being so distracted that even her spidey sixth sense wasn’t working, she turned around and peered into the dark.

“No i was thinking about the new one, the big castle one. Hey whose castle is that anyway? oh and sorry you were saying something, i’ve been told i tend to have a short attention span”

“Do you always have a smart come back to everything?” Jaxon raised his eyebrow. “ So you make a mistake, it can be very scary, yes. Especially when there’s blood involved. It’s a funny story because I accidentally hit a friend in the face while playing soccer. Let’s just say he hasn’t been very attractive for a few months. ”

“Most of the time. Its another trait i get from my Dad.” she said smiling brightly. “Oooh, boy would i kill to see what you did to that guy. Please tell me you took a picture. And, are you not hungry anymore or do you want to go get some pizza? you can tell me all about what a shame you are to your family on the way over”

“And its reassuring to know you’re still an ass, Oscar” May said, tilting her head slightly. 

“Plus you’re like, two years elder to me, stop talking to me like i’m eight. Loosen up, i’d rather not have you be angry. you know, for the wellbeing of....well, everyone. “ she teased. “Okay, i promise i’m listening now, start from the beginning”

“Oh, you’re new? first year? its okay, we’ve all been there. i was there last year, you’re definitely at Carter building, what room do you have?”

   he simply shook his head, continuing with his walking whilst he denied her comments. “nah.” he muttered, obviously not wanting to listen to her lecture him. he could barely listen to his parents doing that. and it was clearer more than ever that he wanted out of this situation now. “i was just training you. nothing more.”

“C’mon Rogers, admit it! We’re friends! I promise it wont melt your ice cold heart, or destroy your reputation as resident brooder!” She called out. “We both know you could have trained with someone your own age and power level, but you wanted to help me out, me your friend, family friend” She could see he wasn’t going to stop so she caught up with him, stood in front of him and said “okay, at least tell me what i did wrong in training. i know you’re dying to”

“It is the right time to watch that film. Not that there’s a wrong time, I normally end up watching Tangled after it because the characters show up. Nothing too important, just asking if you happened to notice an orange bag anywhere. I put it down somewhere earlier, and… well now I can’t remember where.” 

“Theres no wrong time to watch any disney or pixar movie! An orange bag? let me think, um, no sorry. I could help you look if you’d like? its not like i’ve got somewhere better to be. I hope there was nothing valuable in it. Like my bag’s got my phone and my laptop, my two prized possessions, i could care less what happens to everything else. Okay, maybe my camera’s important too. And my web-shooters, cause Dad would kill me if nothing else...sorry i’m rambling”

   “who said we were friends??” he raised a brow, almost challenging her now. chad was a confident guy and he knew when girls were flirting with him—clearly he had been mistaken here though. “majority of people i consider ‘friends’ are immensely boring. hence why i’d rather be with my girl. please don’t be jealous and don’t let me break your heart.” he mockingly spoke, his hand over his heart. “rejection is tough, i get it.”

“See told you, you can’t swallow the fact that someone might want to be friends with you. I’ve known you since we were little kids!” May said, crossing her arms. “You think you broke my heart? please. I wouldn’t date you if begged me to, i don’t date people with sticks up their ass. Plus, i don’t need another guy with whom i have a complicated relationship, running around school, ready to bump into me”

“ You’re hurting my feelings, Parker. ” he replied, putting his hand to his chest in a fake offended gesture. “See? Pizza is the medicine. Maybe it even has the power to bring world peace. When I discovered mine, the most my father did was pat me on the back. ”

“Oh i’m sorry, did i scorn you, Captain Never-ica?” She questioned. “Uh, Jaxon i think finding out you can crawl walls calls for a lot more panic stricken reaction than finding out you can punch easily. Actually, how’d you even find out?”

   “still you.” he rolled his eyes. he was just about to walk away when he heard her words, a sly smirk on his face. the blonde simply leaned in closer to her, obviously more than amused. “i have a girlfriend, parker.  nice try.” chad grinned, slowly walking backwards as his gaze was still locked on her.

May shook her head and said “What? you and me?wh-..” and then thought back what she’d said .

“I didn’t mean it like that, idiot. “ she stated. Mocking him she said, “Mr. ‘i Have a Girlfriend’ Rogers, “i cant leave the campus without her permission or i’ll be punished”. I’ve been in relationships, they never stopped me from having drink with friends, see how i strained on friends, thats you. or maybe Mr. Cold Hearted-combat best, doesn’t believe he has friends?”

“ Pizza seems to be the solution to all my problems. Believe me, if you were my father, I would have been reduced to Jaxon’s dust by now. "The boy laughed nasally. "Hey, excuse me? I know how to honor my name very well. ”

“No, i don’t think you do, Jaxon ‘i’m a disgrace to the name of Rogers’ Rogers” she said laughing. 

“Pizza solves everything, the first time i discovered my powers, i was in full panic mode, my dad got me a big box of Pizza to calm me. it did the trick”

   “i like your confidence but no.” he shook his head again, forcing his hand into his pocket once it was taken. he didn’t care at this point. “you look better with your teeth, that’s true. but that’s fine with me. settle for second best, cool.”

May sighed and got up “we both know who’d be second best in the real world” May said, still joking, she wasn’t trying to prove anything. 

“We can have another go, but only because i don’t want to rob you of the glory that is training with me” she added, smirking. “On one condition, winner takes me to the bar. or do you want to skip all of that and just take me to the bar already?”

“I can’t even be mad at that. If you’re going be distracted by anything, Disney makes it to the top of the list. Who doesn’t love it? The theme just makes you happy.”

“Yeah, that and i saw Frozen last night. Its stuck in my head. Anyways, what were talking about before i oh-so-rudely interrupted you? wasn’t anything important right?”

  “but that’s hardly fair. plus i still think i’d win if i was using all my strength.” chad shrugged, his hand still outstretched even as she had denied it. “c’mon, parker. you’re getting better. you’re not going to improve after three fights. it takes time.”

“Please, i could strangle you if i wanted to. if only i had my shooters!” May still didn’t move and said from the ground “yeah, i’d rather not fight you again. you know, cause i might loose some teeth. i happen to like my teeth”

“yeah, yeah...wait, what were we talking about? no, I was totally listening, up until 5 minutes ago, thats...when i started thinking about the disney theme before movies. “

“God, you need some serious...pizza.” May said. “who’d they make you fight, Your dad? “ May said looking at him. “Seriously, if you keep acting like that, you’re going to tarnish the good name of the house Rogers” she said, teasingly.

“ I’m destroyed. Like, seriously, why three training sessions on the same day and with that intensity? Jesus, I feel like pulling up anywhere now I’m definitely going to pass out. ”
