The modern character of Frankenstein is so divorced from the source material that it's hard to even know how to classify it. Like any new Frankenstein character that comes out isn't even a retelling or an interpretation anymore, that character has been completely fabricated, like tons of little bits of old forgotten media have been stitched together to make the version of him we know today, it's like, it's almost like he's been like... well I can't think of a word but you get what I mean

A week or two ago, a friend of mine sent me a comment on TikTok on a video of the 2024 Olympics showing a dance routine with both a hip hop dancer and a ballet dancer. The comment said "Pearl and Amethyst" and I thought "omg I need to draw this" and so I did.

This drawing stayed as a sketch for a few days since I was intimidated by giving it cleaner lineart but eventually I got around to it (today) and finished it up. I'm very pleased with how the proportions turned out, giving the characters slightly more realistic proportions. I also thought it was really cool to finally see Amethyst and Pearl dress in ways that embody the types of dance that they're drawn to. I didn't expect to make this as colorful or dramatic as I did, but it just kinda veered that way and I'm okay with that. I wonder what Opal would look like with a fusion of these outfits haha. Maybe I'll draw that at some point.
