I love the dynamic in the Discworld fandom on this site, I think it's mainly because there are a lot of dormant fans, if you will, who've read and loved the books for years but haven't engaged much recently, who sort of reappear whenever a fun post is doing the rounds. It's fantastic. We get the cozy small fandom vibe without the screaming matches, but also get the popular posts from time to time, y'know?

In my opinion one of the weirdest/funniest/most frustrating things about Light Yagami is how rapidly he can mentally readjust to convince himself (and others) that everything is always going according to his plan, or else automatically beneath him in some way.
For example, this is what he says to Ryuk about Lind L. Tailor appearing on TV to confront him:

Like I’m sorry Light, but there’s no way in hell you “knew” this was going to happen lmfao, I mean this was his initial shocked reaction to the broadcast literal seconds before that:

I think Light is honestly so overconfident and unable to admit he can make mistakes or be outwitted that he genuinely convinced himself that he “always knew” this would happen in a matter of split-seconds, though. Like as soon as L decided to publicly condemn and oppose him, Light mentally readjusted the narrative to convince himself (and Ryuk) that he was the one with the upper hand all along, and that he always had control over the whole situation – that he could not possibly be outsmarted or proven wrong by anyone, ever. This rapid mental re-framing and dismissing of things that don’t align with his idealized view of himself and his goals is something you see constantly in Light throughout the story.

I know I'm late to this, but I just listened to May 19th's episode of Re: Dracula and holy shit.
The part right at the end with Jonathan and Dracula reading the dates at the same time followed by that echoing laugh as Jonathan realizes he now knows the date of his death gave me fucking chills.
I love Dracula so much but hearing it being acted out like that sent an actual shiver down my spine. I knew Dracula was a horror novel, but that's the first time since my very first read through that the horror struck me properly. Goddamn.

harry dubois would end death note in one episode. he'd be unkillable bc he has no fucking idea what his name is and then he'd go drink driving and accidentally run light over and the killings would mysteriously stop

my take on the miss piggy/morticia addams sexywoman poll is that while morticia would lose gracefully, miss piggy would 1000% attempt murder over the label and morticia would respect her for it. then theyd go out for tea and gossip together
