I wanted to be with you, of course.
I thought that might be the case. I'm glad.

if you were a deity, what would you be the god of?
storms and the sea
your followers worship you for safe passage through the sea. your title implies a dark and brooding individual but you’re much more playful than the name implies. although you’re quite easy-going, you have no patience for those who disrespect the ocean and their punishment is nothing short of severe. those who do anger you are often never seen again, hidden in the depths of the sea that light can’t touch.

@fereldenhero: Rose sighed softly as she looked at Tamlen. For a week now, Tamlen had been acting more different than usual. For one who hardly lost focus, Tamlen seemed distracted. More distracted than usual, at that. At first, Rose thought nothing of it. It was normal for Tamlen to be distracted, but he seemed more as of late.
Rose pressed her teeth into her lower lip as she unwillingly welcomed the anxiety that was now filling her stomach. The gears in her mind started moving and the thoughts started racing. What if--
"Lethallen," Rose called softly to him. "Do you have a moment?"
Tumblr media
Tamlen didn’t want to dwell too much on what he figured was happening-- the idea made him angry, but admittedly also terrified him. The sound was always something there if he were to stop and listen out for it in the quiet moments, but it was never overwhelming. Never forefront-- never demanding. But as days passed by, the soft song seemed more insistent and the implications of such a thing were hard to ignore.
He’d hoped he’d have more time, especially considering how many years most Warden manage to live until the inevitable happened. Until their Calling came, and signaled they should follow the tradition set before them for generations of taking to the Deep Roads and dying. It never was an option he wanted to entertain, given how it betrayed the traditions of his people... it did not help that the Deep Roads filled Tamlen with anxiety and caused him massive discomfort. The idea of dying there of all places, potentially lost after his death--...
Blue hues that were fixated on stone wall for longer than he could remember at this point blink as a pointed ear flicks-- then Tamlen’s attention shifts and lands on Rose, bringing forth another wave of anger that he bit back and kept inside. He wondered if he had just been doomed against love for his entire life--... he also worried that if his had come so soon, if it were a side effect of his contact with the Eluvian all those years ago or if he had to worry about Rose following not too soon after... maybe the whole batch of Darkspawn blood had been done wrong and it cut both their lives much shorter.
Or they were lied to.
“Ir abelas,” The apology was soft, and Tamlen forces his tense arms to loosen in their position crossed over his chest, “I was just lost in thought... what do you need?”

fereldenhero:
Rose’s features softened as she looked at the crown Merrill held delicately in her hands. It was carefully crafted and looked absolutely stunning. “It’s okay, Merrill. I honestly didn’t expect him to like a human, either.” Rose laughed softly. It was true. Her and Tamlen didn’t necessarily get off on the right foot. “No, no. I’m not allergic to any flowers, but you don’t owe me an apology. Everyone seems to have the same reaction. Seems he had a bit of a reputation, hm?”
She looked at the crown and then back to Merrill. “I promise there’s not bad foot. It’s a reaction I’m getting used to, honestly, it’s fine.” She smiled at Merrill. “The crown looks beautiful, how long did it take? I’d love to learn how to weave the steams together. Maybe some day you can show me?”
“Just because you’re used to it doesn’t mean it’s a nice thing to encounter,” Merrill offered the words almost as if she knew from personal experience-- then again, she did, in her own way. But then she was grinning happily and holding out the flower crown for Rose to inspect and take, entirely proud of her work. She’d gotten a lot of practice in while sitting with her few friends in the Clan and listening to them tell her tales of their adventures that day. Adventures she frequently missed out on due to her own duties and expectations.
“It’s taken years of practice, but I’d be more than happy to teach you! Though I must admit, I use a bit of magic to extend the lifetime expectancy of the flowers. Do you know how long you two intend on staying? I’ve heard Wardens tend to live a busy life...” She was ecstatic when Tamlen had arrived, especially when Ashalle had made it sound like it may yet be awhile before he ever got the opportunity to.

@fereldenhero: "Did Quin come talk to you yet?"
Tumblr media
Despite the factor that Tamlen figured Rose would have led with if it was something urgent that would have been brought up, the question had Tamlen tensing. Bright hues cast towards his fellow Warden as concern gripped Tamlen despite not having anything else to really go off of outside of Rose's sudden question, "No, why? Is everything alright?"

fereldenhero:
Rose had been taking in the sights of the Brecelian Forest sine they stepped foot in it. The werewolves followed their every move, and from the altercations they had, Tamlen had proven his stance and unwavered from that. Rose fell silent as they walked, taking in the sights of the forest and the serenity it had to offer.
Fejin had always been good to her, so there was no hesitation when they mentioned the need of a favor. “Sure, what is it?” She asked. Rose never would have expected Tamlen’s hand to be planted firmly in her own. As she opened her mouth, Fejin was already darting off towards the ruins. “Fejin! Wait!” She shouted. They were already gone as quickly as they came.
Rose sighed, her fingertips curling around Tamlen’s hand as she looked over to the warrior. “Do they do this often?” She asked. “Andraste’s ass, just at least warn me if you’re planning on sprinting after them.”
⚔︎
Tamlen had more or less not been paying too much attention to the ongoings of his companions as they traveled through the forest. Instead his attention was focused outwards-- deep into the forest that was familiar to him after years of traveling with his Clan throughout the land of Ferelden. When Fejin had taken his hand in theirs after the last fight, he hadn’t batted an eye at it-- though he cast a glance towards their companions; by now they already knew well enough of the pairs’ relationship but it still set him on edge after tiptoeing around his Clan for so long.
When the ruins came into sight, Tamlen paused-- a mixture of feelings spreading throughout him. Despite the incident that had initially brought him here, curiosity was one of the heavier ones. Along with an overwhelming wariness.
Fejin’s question had Tamlen’s ears twitching faintly, but when they were suddenly moving his hand it snapped his attention properly to his company-- just in time to watch Fejin hand off his hand into Rose’s. Ear tips heat up, and a frown forms as the elf practically freezes on the spot. He didn’t even register Fejin taking off until a moment passed. Eyes dart up to catch the tail end of the rogue slipping into the ruins. While he trusted in Fejin’s capabilities, it also brought up a sense of anxiety. Without thinking, his hand tightens on Rose’s.
“Teldirthalelan...” the insult was a breath of exasperation as Tamlen grabbed his bow with his free hand, “We can’t dawdle, there’s no knowing what lies in store for them in there. Let me go or be dragged.”

what colour are you?
pink
you want badly to be kind, to be loved, to be precious, missed when you're gone. you are terrified of being the thing you fear. you want people to come looking for you. you aren't and never have been one dimensional, even when everyone else insists it would be easier if you were.

fereldenhero:
Rose sank her teeth into her lower lip as she paced in front of the fireplace. Anxiety continued to have itself wrapped around her in a white knuckle grasp. Rose took a breath. The days leading past Adament left Rose in a shattered mess. Tamlen had finally become the Hero they were destined to be, and Rose was left as a grieving widow. Rose closed her eyes as she took a breath. All the could for days was wonder how she was going to have a life without Tamlen and she couldn’t—she just couldn’t.
If Tamlen had never found Quin, Rose knew that she would not be standing here today. She needed to be strong for their son, who too, was grieving the loss of his Father. Rose took a sharp breath and exhaled. It was days ago that Rose also found that she was carrying a child. The news came with mixed emotions and Rose could feel her cheeks growing red from her own heat. Tamlen had wanted a child of his own for so long. It pained Rose to know that this child would never be able to feel the love that Tamlen would offer.  The nights were restless, and Rose found herself being greeted by Tamlen in her own dreams.
It was days ago that Tamlen made his dramatic appearance from the Sky. Rose was full of mixed emotions. Today was the first day that she had some clarity of everything. She was thankful, but that did not stop the anxiety that grabbed at her heart like a vice. Rose should be scared to tell Tamlen that she was with a child, but she was. Is this something that he wanted still, after everything he went through? After everything they went through?
Sharp canine’s dig into her lower lip as she runs a hand absentmindedly over her stomach. Rose could taste iron and she knew she had drawn blood. She ran her tongue over her lower lip as she turned her head to the sound of the door opening. Rose smiled warmly as she watched Tamlen walk in. “Ma Vheanan,” Rose’s hand fell from her stomach as she moved to greet him. “How are you feeling? Are you feeling okay?” Her smile fell as she wrapped her arms loosely around him, careful not to be too tight.
Rose trembled as she hugged him. He needed to know. He deserved to know.  “Whenever you’re ready, I do have to talk to you about something. I promise, it’s nothing bad.” She said as she pulled back to look at him. “And no, I’m not going to stop worrying over you.”
⚔︎
Ever since Adamant, there had been a somber feeling that had fallen over Skyhold. Even after Tamlen had managed to find his way out through a Rift and made his way back, things had never quite been the same as they were before. Part of that was probably because he had finally come clean about the truth of his situation. About his Calling, and the true reason he’d disappeared for half a year.
Sometimes Tamlen regretted telling those close to him. Those who should know. But he knew it wouldn’t be fair of him to keep it a secret any longer. Especially considering how bad it was getting now. There was nothing to try and explain it away, now. It was more likely to cause problems if he kept it a secret any longer.
He only wished the reveal didn’t send so many into a desperate panic to try and find some way to get rid of it. Tamlen still couldn’t figure he deserved such a thing even if a cure was found.
The Warden was relieved to find Rose in their room instead of out and buried deep in some sort of research again. He knew it was a blessing unlikely to last. A pleased hum slips from Tamlen’s lips as he holds Rose close, but as soon as she spoke up Tamlen couldn’t help but to tense up. Even at the insistence that it was not something bad. The elf slowly pulled back, blue hues peering up towards Rose quizzically.
“... what is it?”
