Ren & Stimpy
Created by John Kricfalusi for Nickelodeon, The Ren & Stimpy Show was a bizarre, irreverent and often surrealist tale exploring the misadventures of Ren Höek, an emotionally unstable chihuahua dog; and Stimpy, a good-natured yet dimwitted manx cat. The show’s madcap plots, gross-out humor and frequently shocking visuals made it a fan favorite among kids and adults alike; as well as source of controversy due to the dark and mature nature of many of its jokes. It also featured the immortal force known as Powdered Toast Man!
Ren was voiced by John Kricfalusi; while Stimpy was voiced by actor Billy West (with the great Gary Owens voicing Powdered Toast Man). Ren and Stimpy first appeared in the show’s debut episode in August of 1991.
