hi its me i’m gonna overshare for a second but also this is lowkey an aita post tbh. Tldr: I accidentally made a girl fail a class in college.

i went to school for drama and our school had us (and the dance majors) take a few different tech classes so we were more well rounded and respectful to the people that make the performing arts possible. And so part of that was that for a couple of semesters you had to participate with tech stuff for one of the shows going on.

So I got paired up with a dancer to wash costumes for a dance show. It was pretty easy, but we had a time limit because the dancers needed their costumes every night for rehearsals or shows. So like its not hard, laundry’s easy they had the specific instructions for the laundry machines written on post it notes on the machines. Maybe there would be a single makeup stain you need to treat but thats it. Their rehearsals/shows ended at like 9:30/10, you could do the laundry after or do it the next day before 5. We had keys to get into the costume shop, just overall pretty easy.

So me and the girl split up days, we’re each supposed to do it every other day. We have each other’s numbers. She starts texting like “Oh my class is running late can you get stuff into the dryer and then into the theater” and I get that things happen so of course, no problem. We got like two weeks of this something might happen with me too. And it gets so frequent that even though I’ve told her my schedule she texts last minute and I have to Leave a (zoom) class Early to get the costumes to the dancers. And so I talk to her, ask her to pull her weight a bit more. And so she says she’ll get the costumes the next night and the rest of the time.

But then the next night, at 10:30 at night. She calls me. She is obviously drunk, she tells me she just left a party and she’s drunk. She asks me how to work the washing machine and if I’ll come do it for her. I say no.

The next day the head of the costume shop texts me. And she knows me she had worked with me before. And she’s like “the dancers are all complaining that their stuff is wet can one of you come help us out with their laundry bags). And I am technically in between classes (I think I had like maybe 20 minutes? Not including walking time) so of course I rush over to help and I get the stuff in the dryer and as dry as it could be before the dancers needed it.

and so head of the costume shop is like “what the fuck?? Did you do the laundry last night?” (She had seen me coming and going and knew I had been doing most of it). And i was like “No, [other girl] said she could do it last night. She did call me last night and ask how to use the laundry machine though.”

“what do you mean? Nothing ever changes on the setting and we have instructions written out.”

and so I sorta cringe and I’m like “she did say she was coming from a party.

And the costume shop head was like “okay. Yeah of course. I won’t talk to her until after y’all are done working together so you don’t have to deal with it. But just so you know, she will be repeating this class.”

and yeah so she failed the class and had to do an extra semester and I was absolutely terrified that she’d be mad at me whenever I saw her from that day on.
