being in my 20s is like I understand more of my mother and less than i ever have. My childhood friends are strangers to me and there’s no one i know better. i want to drink wine. i never stopped wanting to climb trees. i know more than I’ve ever known before. I don’t know anything at all. i’m seven years old and sixteen and twenty nine and seventy. I can’t tell when i'm happy. I think the only thing that will make me happy is to be little again. i want to be really old. i go to the ocean and feel like nothing matters more than that. in my bedroom everything matters so much. I go to the grocery store every day. i know how to cook a lot of things but the only thing i know how to eat is fried eggs. So you know this gif from my Dune letterboxd review set?

It’s one of my favorite reviews for anything ever, I laugh every time. More importantly though, I originally chose this particular clip to go with this review because it’s the only time we see anyone playing an instrument in the movie (couldn’t think of any other way to visually represent the score) and also because the score in this scene was particularly memorable and fantastic.

But y’all. It got infinitely better because I just found out that the bagpipe man is Hans Zimmer himself.

He really did put his whole hans zussy into this score.

Finally saw dune. Brave film. They incorporated bagpipes into the soundtrack and fuck if you don't see an actual bagpiper on screen in front of sexy sexy oscar isaac. They could have pretended the bagpipes were nondiagetic but no. They were like "guess what. The majestic instrument originating from the scottish highlands exist in this universe. And hes gonna play his little song" marvel could never. If they showed a bagpiper on screen he would be laughed at. Humiliated. Dare I say, "quipped at". And then they would have made a joke about how spiderman played the bagpipes in marching band.
