ASSIGNMENT #5
TELL A LIE FIVE DIFFERENT WAYS
For this assignment you will make five (5) individual images. The images will all be visual representations of a single lie, which you will create. The lie may address any topic or be as complex or simple as you’d like or be as ridiculous or serious as you see fit (or any combination of these or any other things).
For instance, you may choose to lie about your dog (perhaps you don't own a dog). Five lies about your dog (or lack thereof) could be:
1. A self portrait, standing in your back yard, surrounded by one hundred miniature doberman pinchers.
2. An image of your living room all tore up with a cryptic message from your dog spelled out on the floor with garbage (if your real or imaginary dog has never done this).
3. A pile of dog poo full of diamonds and gold.
4. A three-legged dog (if your real or imaginary dog has anything other than three legs).
5. Your dog, wearing a racing vest, with a chimpanzee riding it in a dog race.
(of course, now that I’ve taken the dog idea, you’ll have to think of something else.)

This is currently one of the best resources for finding art and artists on the web. The interface is incredibly simple and does a wonderful job locating work based off of artists and artwork that you like. Each artist profile provides images, a bio, and various articles about the artist, in addition to links to exhibitions (for most but not all artists).
This is an invaluable resource for locating inspiration.

BIOGRAPHY
Digital artist Jon Rafman is best known for his work around Google Street View, which he approaches as a repository of images that bring to the fore the relationship between technology and human experience. Concerned with the tension between the camera’s indifference and the human search for meaning, he has said, “While celebrating and critiquing modern experience, the technological tools themselves show how they can estrange us from ourselves.” For his ongoing project, Brand New Paint Job, Rafman appropriates elements from modernist paintings—by Joan Miró, Yves Klein, and Jackson Pollock, among others—using them as textures that he applies to digital renderings of 3D models, including busts, interior spaces, cars, and pieces of furniture.
Canadian, b. 1981, Montreal, Canada, based in Montreal, Canada
