Reasons why I love Elain's character:

She bought Feyre paint with the little extra money she was given. To give her little sister a smidgen of joy and light in the darkness of poverty.

She convinced Nesta to help Feyre and her friends. Opened up their home to the dangers of a world they know nothing about.

She likely tried her absolute hardest to not let her fear of fae overcome the need to be a kind host when she first met the three brothers and welcomed them into her home.

She chose to put out the finest tea they had for the wretched human Queens.

She paid the ultimate price in choosing to get involved in Feyre's troubles. She lost her humanity. She lost her home. She lost her fiance. She lost her very sense of self. She died and was reborn - Made - into the very thing she feared most. Thrown into a corrupt and sickening vat of darkness used by parasites that suck worlds dry of magic and anything good. Changed and made Fae. Given the gift of sight and otherworldly power. Loved, by the most wretched thing in the land. We have yet to find out what, exactly, happened in the cauldron.

And yet, despite it all, she still chose to help Feyre find the suriel in her grief. Tapped into a foreign power she doesn't know how to weild properly.

She saved Nesta and Cassian in ACOWAR.

She killed the King of Hybern and subsequently saved Prythian from his reign.

She chose to pick up baking and cooking with the twins instead of wallowing in her grief, trauma, and anger forever after ACOWAR.

She still got Nesta a Solstice gift when no one else had in ACOFAS other than Cass, despite how poorly she treated her when she was lost to her own grief and anger.

She still attempted to visit Nesta in ACOSF at the height of her turmoil.

Mind you, Elain has her own grief and trauma to work through in the aftermath of the being Made, losing her engagement, losing her father, and ending the war. She still chose to be kind. She still chose to reach out her hand.

She kept Feyre's pregnancy a secret, silently helping her through that first trimester.

She chose to offer herself and power to search for the trove, despite being coddled by everyone but Amren.

She apologized to Azriel for the almost kiss. In the humiliation she likely felt in that moment, she still chose to be kind.

She looked at one of Azriel's traumas, at his wrecked hands, and called him beautiful.

She admired Azriel's shadows when most only balked.

It is said she can convince anyone to do anything with a few smiles.

It is said she is the most beautiful. Soft and lovely, like a summer dawn.

She can surprise people with her comments like, "I hope they all burn in hell."

She can make even the most stoic shadowsinger have a booming laugh and brilliant smile upon his face.

She makes the most beautiful gardens that Rhsyand had her fill the estate grounds with them.

She's held at a different regard to some people, like Rhysand.

She befriended the Wraith Twins. Two girls that remain in the shadows and do work behind the scenes.

She basically had to be given a dress that dimmed her beauty in order to get Eris to focus on Nesta in ACOSF. And I'm sure she did so with the grace of a queen.

She was gifted Azriel's dagger. The infamous Truth-Teller, that he has allowed no one to touch, but her. Only her.

She used that dagger's power, and harnessed whatever starborn dark magic it holds to assassinate their greatest enemy they faced yet.

I genuinely don't understand Elain hate. It's not that serious. And above all, she's a fictional character. The hate and truly awful comments I see online say alot about the person behind the screen.
