“I got a surprise for youuuu,” Steph sang, smiling brightly at her friend. Removing her hands from behind her back, she showed off her gift for Sally. “We still had some Halloween items lying around that I thought you’d adore and I thought that you might still be dealing with post-Halloween blues, so I made this for you.”

There was something... off. She wasn’t sure what it was but she was certain. Noticing someone beginning to walk by the shop, Stephanie took a photo of the flower arrangement before heading outside. “Excuse me! Hello, I was wondering if you could help me real quick? It should only take a moment.”

Uh-oh. Steph’s eyes widened as she grabbed the wallet, quickly going after the man. “Hey, wait!” Reaching Hook, she tapped his shoulder before holding out his wallet. “I’m sorry to bother you, but you left your wallet.”

“Hi, uh, this might be a weird question... but do you like banana chips?” The brunette smiled sheepishly, holding up her bag. “I’m not sure if I can finish the rest of these and I thought I’d might ask.”

"Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” Stephanie should have been looking where she was going. She had been paying more attention to her stirring the sugar in her tea while walking at the same time, which resulted in her colliding into Aaron. “I am so, so sorry!”

Giggling a little, Stephanie thought about it as she smiled. “Okay, that, I can see. I mean, it’d be such a waste to pay quite a bit for a drink that isn’t even that great, so I get why that could be a possibility. Though the sugar does really helps.” Looking at her cup, she shook her head before setting it on the table before her. “But hey, at least I gave it a shot instead of saying that I hated it without even trying it. That’s a good thing, isn’t it?”

“I love spring! Honestly, when the weather is good and sunny, I’m happy! Each season has its own benefit, but I am really a warm weathered girl. That’s why warm drinks are nice though! Don’t you like feeling all warm and fuzzy inside?”

“Gosh, I know what you mean! It’s my most favourite time of year, filled with new beginnings and hope. It’s incredible. I do, yes! I absolutely enjoy tea. I don’t necessarily have a favourite kind, but there’s most certainly this one type that I enjoy no matter what. I also like hot chocolate occasionally, that’s really good as well. What about you? She was slightly taken aback by his answer, yet she smiled at the boy. “That must be a lot of fun! It’s good to get scared every now and then. Plus, it’s the perfect season to get spooked.” Though, she secretly hoped that she wouldn’t fall prey to his scaring antics.

“Wha– really? Pumpkin spice is one of the best things about fall! Especially since we live in a town with one season,” Molly groaned. Every year she waited for it to get chilly, but it never did. So she had to make it feel like fall in any way she could. “I guess it’s a personal taste, then, but I live for it.”

The older woman wasn’t expecting the outburst, but she couldn’t help but to grin at hearing the passion in the girl’s voice. Some people truly loved fall and Steph wasn’t one to judge. “Hey, as long as you love it, that’s great! Don’t let me or any of us who aren’t pumpkin spice latte fans ruin your fun. Why do you love it so much, if I may ask?”

“I was all for it like a week ago, and then I got one like a couple mornings ago, it just wasn’t g-good.” Vanellope explained with a sigh. “I think it’s good like one time, and then it’s l-like ok no thanks.”

Steph smiled at the younger girl before glancing at her pumpkin-flavored beverage. “I most definitely see what you mean. But hey, nothing bad with giving things a try, right? Maybe it’d be a different story if it was, say, tea or hot chocolate or something.”

“I think it stems from the fact that pumpkin related anything makes people feel…more in tune with the season? And the fact that it essentially becomes an exclusive part of the fall makes it even more alluring. I don’t think people are so enamored with it because its actual quality, but rather the idea of it and what it represents. But, that just be me over-analyzing the commercialization and commodification of beverages.” 

“No, that makes sense! Pumpkin truly does have something about it that’s very autumn-oriented, so it’s understandable why people tend to be so drawn to it during this time of year instead of during the other seasons. I mean, I’ve been seeing pumpkin spice cereal, pumpkin spice pop-tarts, and all other sorts of pumpkin spice stuff all over the place at supermarkets and cafes. I’m pretty sure that they’re developing pumpkin spice tea as we speak. I guess I’m just trying to be more understanding about the usual loves and interests that pop up during this time of the year.”

“hmm. let’s see. to start, i’ll go with stephanie. i’ve swung around her shop a couple times to pick up some flowers for a friend, but aside from that i haven’t really gotten to know ‘er. she seems sweet. secondly would be zero… they’re a friend o’ sally’s, and it seems we share a similar appreciation for the weird and wonderful as i’ve spotted them in a couple of my favorite vintage shop haunts. meg also interests me, she’s one of my good ol’ LSF neighbors. pretty sure she lives in my building and she seems like a nice gal. as for chesh holloway, i’d befriend ‘em just to get to know why they’re always hanging out in trees. what’s with that? and while i’m at it, what’s with whittier always in a rush? that’s another mystery i’d like to unfold. all o’ these considered, though, i’m a friendly guy. i can get to know pretty much anyone.”@spriteismss, @zero-hocuspocus, @wahlgren-meg, @cbvicuslycdd, @whittyrabbit

“Well, at least I’m not the only one,” she joked, grinning at the redhead. “Ooo, I’ve never had that before. What’s it like?” Sure, tea is her favourite beverage, but she did occasionally enjoyed hot chocolate and this kind sounded interesting.

Aaron jumped back in surprise once he noticed who it was that was talking, a look of panic appeared but quickly disappeared. It wouldn’t do good for him to be seen scared because of her, he’d just have to reply like normal. “Um, yes. Pumpkin spice latte. Yes. Very good. Yes. Um. Pumpkin spice?”

With raised brows, Steph tilted her head a little as she noticed the quick look of panic. She didn’t really recognized the man, yet there was something about him... She couldn’t put her finger on it. She smiled a little at him before asking, “Are you alright? You seemed sort of... spooked, just now. I didn’t scare you, did I?”
