My toxic trait is I think soul lore is dumb and the OG vampire lore is also low-key dumb and flawed and not followed by the continuity. I don’t think it’s “when you get turned into a vampire you die and a demon takes over your body and gets your memories,” I think it’s “when you get turned into a vampire your body dies/becomes undead and you lose your human soul and it’s replaced with a vampiric “soul” but the essence that makes you you remains the same.” And my biggest argument for this would be Drusilla. Because when Drusilla gets turned into a vampire she retains her gift of prophecy. And like…it’s one thing to get somebody’s memories/behavioral patterns, but it’s another thing entirely for her to keep a mystical gift that is mostly likely tied to her essence. It’s not even a thing she learned to do, it’s a gift that comes and goes on its own and I really don’t think she’d still have it if she was completely gone and it was just a demon wearing her face and wasn’t fundamentally her.

My other toxic trait is I’m 100% convinced I’m right about this and would probably still refuse to see it any other way even if (especially if) Joss Whedon himself personally told me I was wrong.

Sometimes I think about how Doc stabbed Spike with the same knife he used to cut Dawn for the ritual. And like, it looks like he wiped off the knife, but it’s so interesting to think about what it might’ve meant if he hadn’t? I mean that was a blood ritual, what might that have meant to have someone else’s blood, vampire blood no less, mixed in with it?
