you met megumi at a rock festival.

you and your friends had been vibing near the pit, eyeliner smudged, sweat glistening, boots scuffed. It was loud. euphoric. and somewhere between Everlong and Come As You Are, you really had to pee.

the bathroom line was long, gross, and packed. but when you stumbled around the side of the stalls, desperate, you ran into someone standing there—like a shadow in black, leaning against the wall like he was being held hostage.

you almost screamed.

because he was staring. like—just staring. eyes half-lidded, unimpressed, almost judging you for needing to pee.

“what,” you said, not even hiding your attitude. “do you live here or something?”

he didn’t say anything. just blinked. looked you up and down. and kept staring.

you went into the porta potty because nature said so. but when you came out? Gone.

you sighed, adjusting your belt, about to head back when—

“excuse me. you’re in the way.”

you whipped around, and there he was again. silent. dead-eyed. gorgeous in the worst way.

“actually,” you snapped, “you’re in my way. i just got out of the bathroom, and you’re standing directly in front of it. do the math.”

“i am doing the math,” he said flatly. “and you’re blocking the only path away from it.”

“what—are you the piss gatekeeper now?”

“you’re just standing there for no reason.”

“i’m trying to get around you, cryptid.”
