Little bit funny how people's dislike of Harry Potter has now lapsed into like complete and total dismissal. The other day I was at a flower show and the theme for the displays at this particular flower show were book themed. And of course an admiring crowd went round and did the circuit of displays, ooh-ing and aah-ing at various renditions of The Railway Children and Little Red Riding Hood and taking photos. All extremely cool. And then they got to the Harry Potter section and there was just a complete blank look on a lot of people's faces. They didn't even comment like with the other displays, they simply walked by giving each other what-the-fuck-is-this shrugs. My sister is getting offered the opportunity to go to Harry Potter World by her college for art purposes this year and she said people were so distinctly unpsyched by even the offer of a very cheap coach trip and abysmally low priced tickets that they were already counting themselves out of the trip months in advance. There are stores with discount Gryffindor lunchboxes and scarves piling up desperately by the masses. Little stickers on them denoting price drops. Some stickers on top of others. Nobody gives a fuck about Harry Potter. It's all terribly exciting. I hope the HBO show is the nail in the coffin and we can finally put this shambolic corpse to a stake through the chest rest

This weekend I thrifted the cutest book ever....like I literally gasped when I pulled it off the shelf in the craft book section of Freedom Thrift near Blue Ball (real town name, I promise).  

The book is called "Soft Toys to Stitch and Stuff," a Farm Journal Craft Book, published in 1983.  Sometimes I think I've seen all the cool weird vintage books...and then I encounter a new one.   As soon as I opened this one, I knew the images had to be used for some Clotheshorse-isms about fast fashion, consumerism, and wealth inequality.  Also, I definitely need to make some of these animals because they are all amazing!

Randomly remembered childhood pet peeve: when adults would just decide that something you said as a joke or didn't mean as a serious thing was actually something else. And then won't let you tell them that it was a joke.

Like the fuck do you mean, "no it wasn't"? You don't get to decide what someone else's intentions were or what they meant with what they said. Oh fucking excuuuuse me that you decided that something lighthearted that I only meant as something silly and goofy to say was actually a mean-spirited snide remark about your rampant alcoholism. That I would somewhy decide to bring up randomly out of the blue to slam dunk the mood in the whole house into the ground just when everything was chill for once. Why the fuck would I even bring it up like that, I'm eight years old.
