Also Lapis still sucks as a character. I don't care that she girl bossed when she stole all of Peridot's shit then smashed it on the Diamonds. She wasn't even fun with it.

Also SU took the biggest L when Yellow Diamond went from a threat to "I'm just so sad because I missed Pink. I'll do anything for Pink now that she's back". She was so much more fun when her anger defined her. A character that would dig her heels in and refuse to budge because she's doing what's right for her empire. Someone who won't hear anything else.

But I guess yet another one note member of the pink/rose Fandom is cool too

1. What about Steven's actual family that love and support him? The ones that (mostly) accepted him basically his entire life? The ones that (other than Pearl) have been nothing but accepting the whole series? What about the queer fantasy of just being loved by the people who raised you? The Diamonds were literally nobodies in Steven's life until the end of the series.

2. If we're doing metaphors, it's more finding out from your adopted mother that your bio family are a bunch of rich bigots who aren't politicians exactly, but with the way they throw money around it doesn't matter who's elected theyre still basically in charge and you suck up enough to get on the will and convince them that gay people are okay, but you don't actually get better conditions for the people working for them, taking your share of the money, and bouncing.

Like maybe I don't understand queer fantasies, but I'm not gonna take a 23 and me to go find family that has never been in my life and I've never cared about and wanting to change their mind about bigotry.

Does it ever strike you how despite Rose being so important and critical as a character, we never actually get to see or hear things from her perspective? Almost every evaluation of her is from biased, unreliable 3rd parties, memories or flashbacks, which means no one actually knows the full details on her as a person. She's basically never been able to speak for herself or share her side of the story, not even to confront her numerous failings as a person, and especially her actions as Pink.

It’s been a long time since I’ve thought about SU and honestly my brain has mostly moved onto more interesting fields, but that really is an interesting thought. Because the only person in the series that saw her for her was Greg and he knew her the shortest time. Everyone else seemed to be in love with the idea of her. 

There very well could be more reason that Rose went to war other than Human Pretty. Because that part was told by post character assassination Pearl who was rendered into a boring shell of a character defined by how much she loved and missed Rose. 

If in the hands of a capable writer, producer, or director (or at least ones that gave a shit), it’d be an interesting concept to explore. 

Not to mention Rose’s Room probably should be able to recreate a perfect Rose Quartz. Because all of her exists there in the gem, none of the information was lost, even if it’s in there lying dormant, it should be retrievable. I feel like that’s within the rules of the room. 

I’m aware that we’ve seem a recreation of Rose by the room, but I still feel as though it should be able to.

It's funny bc I've never watched ATLA during its original run in 2005 until I decided to binge watch it in 2012 before Korra premiered so I could familiarize myself with the Avatar verse and its quality still remains intact when viewed in one sitting. Whereas SU benefited from all the hiatus in place so suckas like us wouldn't immediately catch on to how shitty the show actually was as we were left asking more & more questions.

Honestly I think I only watched ATLA in like 2015 cause it was just what my family was binge watching at the time, and it was something I was vaguely aware of it when it was airing but I could never get into it because I would catch episodes like part way through like the Book of Earth and I had no idea who anyone was or why I should care. 

SU built the hype for it’s episodes with bombs, probably in part because they had to, and then once the episodes aired fans were so starved for canon content they’d accept anything seeing as it had been like a year and a half since they had gotten any content. Which is kinda a cheap and short sighted tactic because it really fucks with rewatchablilty. Because when you’re watching it on your own terms, suddenly those big jolts in plot progression hit you like a brick.

I find it easier to have a rough idea on what kind of world you want it to be and go from there. Like do you want it to be a skin deep utopia where if you look too deep into it it all falls apart. Or maybe a unfeeling methodical dictatorship where everything is perfect down to the smallest detail and everything is controlled by fear or other means. Once you have like a basis, you can build from there.

Idk what the SU fandom is up to right now, but I know they're dreaming if they think this show's gonna be remembered as time moves forward when its rewatchiblity factor fails with -9 out of 10 rating. This pastel colored waste will age like spoiled milk as opposed to the likes of other kid's cartoons such as ATLA that's already a decade old.

It’s wild because ATLA was a show that was made before bingeing was a thing, but with time allowing you could pretty easily watch them back to back just as easily as you could watch them on a weekly basis.

But on the other hand, SU pretty well only worked (worked being used loosely) when you watched it as it aired. It has some really weird pacing issues and hiccups, and it really doesn’t work if you binge them. Which is especially weird since it wasn’t a problem in the beginning, but the later seasons when bingeing was a known thing they definitely didn’t account for. 

Also I think a good chunk of the su fandom was off doing their own things so the show and it ending is almost irrelevant. The characters will eventually (all though a lot are already) end up us unrecognizable from the canon. SU had some solid concepts in it that lead to some very good aus (There’s a lot of real yikes content that I’m sure becky is thrilled about), but the story they’ve chosen to tell is not one that’s worth telling. 

It’ll probably be like a Harry Potter where you remember it fondly until you actually look at it and see all the awful things you missed the first time and go “ugh, never mind” and then remember that the creator was a nasty piece of work and just decide you’ll take this piece of media cheese and cut away the mold until you get something salvageable.

How about queer is a term in the process of being reclaimed because it can be used as a good catch all for lgbt+ groups and it still offers a level of anonymity as to where you actually fall in the group and allows you wiggle room for when you're still trying to find your spot but you do know you're somewhere under the umbrella.

Though I can understand why some people can have strong feelings to the contrary, and that's why a lot of people tag it. No one is holding you at gunpoint and telling you you have to call yourself queer. If it works for them then let em use it.
