Seeing people try to defend the lack of racial/ethnic diversity on Tumblr is... wow. So let me share a reminder: It used to be better! Still dominantly white, but better than what it is now, at least. Then everyone got tired of the "blackouts" and other mostly Black-led conversations around racism because it was "ruining their fandom fun" or something idk and quite literally chased out so many bloggers of colour through harassment campaigns from the user-base and massive staff-led blog purges. This was not even that long ago, btw.

I can think of so many beloved mutuals who had to leave this site for their mental health because they just couldn't take it anymore.

Tumblr deserves every shred of criticism it gets for being so white after all that.

It genuinely doesn't even compute. It gives me a feeling of unreality. Lots of things nowadays make me feel like "we can't be living in the real world, this can't be happening" but this is by far the most lowest stakes thing that makes me feel that way

Pioneering a "how much craft per craft" scale that determines how much of the time you spend doing any given handcraft is actually spent on what a layperson would imagine the core of the craft is vs other associated tasks. Spinning? Mostly actual spinning. Sewing? Mostly ironing. Wood and metalworking? Mostly sanding. Weaving? I've only had a chance to do one project, but from what I can gather from my more experienced friends, it seems to be mostly math.

I think Adam is a very good caretaker. Which I think is like, very necessary in this specific context. Because if you're traveling all around the world, you're in these stressful situations, these exhausting situations – I am always glad Adam is there. Because, again, I'm never like "I'm gonna die!" Adam has ensured at every moment that I do not die.

Annual Lollapalooza Line Up Game

okok not to be negative on the everyone must like things website. but. the game design of snake was bad. the first few episodes weren't even terribly fun to watch, especially after the banger after banger that was hide and seek nyc and schengen showdown. and it also suffered from the what's up youtube white boy in east asia problem, though far less than capture the flag japan so i'll give em that. without the asymmetry of information that makes games like hide and seek or tag work (because it balances out the asymmetry in the team comp), we're left with teams that don't know what they're doing or what they should do because everyones moves are purely reactive. it's how we end up with so much dead time where optimal move at the start of the run is to just wait at the train station for the first two hours. also, ngl, the dramatic musical stings and map shots every 5 minutes got pretty ridiculous (in a funny way) after a while. so over-the-top.

like. it's not like the season was bad. a mediocre jet lag season is still a league above a lot of other things on youtube, but it wasn't because of the game. all they had to carry this season was their internet personalities, which they've honed for long enough that it made the later episodes better (once they knew how the timing and pacing of the runs would work).
