Squirrels of UT: The Yearbook! IMPORTANT UPDATE! 😱 Thank you to everyone who has supported the squirrels of UT yearbook these past three and a half months! The squirrels (and I) are so overwhelmed at all the enthusiasm, support, and recognition this yearbook has received and we are so so thankful to everyone. ❤️🐿️ Thanks to all of you guys, the UT squirrels have been featured throughout the world, including on The Daily Texan, Austinot, KVUE, People Magazine, and even NPR's Wait Wait Don't Tell Me! That being said, the past three months have been a crazy ride. In addition to prepping the files to be printed and working with our amazing squirrel-professors and coaches, I also added an additional 36 pages to the final version of the yearbook. Finally, as of today, I have received a final completion date of July 19. Your copy will then be at your door within a week of that date! Thank you for waiting all this time. I had hoped to get the books out to all of you before the end of June, but with all the updates and additions to the yearbook, that date was pushed back. I took on this project entirely by myself with a lot to learn and encountered some bumps along the way, so I really appreciate how understanding and patient you guys have been. She sploot. 😂😂😂 Sunflower demonstrates how she cools down in the Texas heat! 🏜️ Since squirrels do not pant or sweat, they will do what is known as "heat dumping," where they will lie flat on their bellies on the ground to cool off. 🌞 Now that it's summer, you can catch every other UT squirrel chilling on the ground, tree branches, and even recycling bins to beat the heat! Throwback Thursday: Ella Edition!! ❤️⭐ Ella is a sweet squirrel who first made her appearance as a very jealous and hungry mama squirrel who wanted all the attention to herself. 🤣 Throughout the past year, Ella has continued to appear out of nowhere whenever you are giving attention to other squirrels. 😱 She just seems to know. I think she has a sixth sense. As queen bee of the East Mall squirrels, you can almost always see her hanging around the north side of the SAC and the BRB. She hasn't changed much since I met her a year ago, but she does seem to enjoy making silly faces for the camera now! 😂 Fun fact: Ella's full name is Squirchella. Fries are a valuable good in the eyes of the UT squirrel, and while they may be delicious, they are not as healthy for our squirrely friends. Throwback Thursday! 🌻Friendly girl Sunflower has definitely become the star of the show throughout the past year, and so I wanted to share some pictures of her to document how she has grown! The first picture is from the first time I met Sunflower on a rainy day in April of last year. Although she is a rain squirrel, she is bright and cheery like the sun! 🌞 She was named after her love of Sunflower seeds, which she continues go crazy for today. 🤣 As one of the most popular and friendliest UT squirrels, she loves to run up for snacks and always smile for her picture. It's been fun to watch her throughout the seasons -- she got pretty fuzzy in December and sported some very cute chubby rolls as a result of having her babies in the spring!
