I’m more of an All Star now.
While I cut my teeth on Super Smash Brothers Ultimate (SSBU) with Century Smash and I still have love for that mode, I’ve been focusing more on All Star in the last few months. I had some success in Century Smash, setting a few world records (WR), they have all since been beaten. The main man is a guy from the UK named CaptainJJ and he is on a level all his own. While I am competitive, I don’t know if I could ever match his skill level. Actually, it was because he added about 20 scores on All Star (all of which had bumped me down a position) that I decided to start focusing on All Star.  When I first started playing All Star again, I was at 4976 as a total score. I was hoping to get to 5000 and was surprised by how quickly I was able to get to 5004. I knew my skill level had increased because of the months and months of playing century smash. I had gone under 2 minutes with all 86 characters and currently have an average under 1:35.00 for all 86.  Prior to this All Star reemergence I had limited success. I was the first person to bring Sonic up into the 100′s and was first to break through with Sonic past 75. Other than that I had tied the Inkling WR (at the time) at 72. Since then Morimoyashi, (the Great Morimoyashi) who is one of the best at Classic mode, Century Smash, and is the top dog in All Star and Homerun Contest, had definitively claimed title of king of All Star over King Sadoth. Those had been the 2 main guys. CaptainJJ then came in and took a few WRs of his own. Of the 86 WRs the main people were Mori, King S., CaptainJJ, and SW.  Everything changed on the morning of March 4, 2022. I had been focusing on All Star for a few weeks now and was working King K. Rool. I absolutely knew I could break my personal best of 59, but I just needed the right run. Then it happened. In the literal hundreds and hundreds of hours I’ve spent playing SSBU, these 4-5minutes were some of my best playing ever. I had come to realize that the best strategy for King K. Rool was to just dash attack and run back and forth dashing into people. I was doing amazing. I purposely ignored how well I was doing. I cannot tell you how many times the thought, “I’m doing pretty well, this might be the run” came up only to instantly have the run go bad. I’ve also lost on runs because I momentarily glance at the score and that slight distraction is enough to hurt me in the run. So I kept on dashing with King K. Rool, staying totally cool and zen. A few times I got knocked around and it seemed like trouble, having difficulty just landing back on the stage. This is where the down smash came in handy. The world record at the time was 83 by Mori. That morning I got to 89. It was amazing. It was amazing to think I had done something that was possibly better than anyone else that had done and it was just a normal morning. I ate breakfast right after and it was like nothing was different, but to me things were different.
