not of comfort. not of condolences. there is a heart and there is a fissure, a fracture, something that starts to splinter and break open. you're the patron saint of the way a heart is rent open. the way it tears itself apart. patron saint of the rift. patron saint of the gash. when they say to "open your heart" to somebody, you are the patron saint of bleeding out.

The courtyard below was choked with them: dozens of upright bodies clustered together, swaying like the sere and tussocky grasses his gaze had canvassed on the ride into the city's outskirts. Could've been a much prettier sight than their current vantage point if he'd had time to take a breath and smell the flowers. For once, he didn't have to use the phrase as pure idiom. It'd been some years since he'd stopped in Morocco. Under better circumstances, touring the city with a partner spelled out to be one hell of a romantic getaway.

"I have," he continued, pulling the pin on an incendiary with a hooked finger. "Probably a dozen of 'em." Pisé, stucco, and mosaic had endured fire more than once in its three hundred thousand year history; with any luck, it'd keep for twice as long. Leon lobbed the explosive underhanded and was already reloading his Sentinel Nine as it burst on impact. "Most people don't go for faith anymore. Some go for the history. Some go for the 'Gram. But those rose windows?" Leon whistled, low and quiet. "That craftsmanship--the color, the stonework--is almost spectacular enough to make a nonbeliever want to believe in God."

Viscera broiled, skin crackling and sizzling like a roast left to smoke. Even against the backdrop of an amber sunset, the sight failed to recall the life that once existed here: geometric piles of whole nuts and flowers and spice pods in tin bowls, handwoven baskets hanging by the thousands, blocks and tins of fragrance teasing the luxury of the Damask.

Ten feet below their boots, one of the infected craned its neck up and groaned, its cataracts blackening to shrivel.

"They're more delicate than they look."

I have been radio silent on everywhere except Discord with Jake Muller brainrot (IYKYK) but I am of course coming onto my man to say that with the exception of Leon’s VA and design model, I have absolutely nothing negative or doubtful or uncertain to say at this time. Maybe that’s bc RE4 was my introduction to this fandom and I’m admittedly biased, but this trailer offers us exactly the kind of claustrophobic, grotesque, and isolating experience I’ve always imagined for Leon. I feel incredibly excited and afraid on a man’s behalf, and as much as I’ll forever hold OG 4′s campiness close to my heart, this is the atmosphere we deserve. We stan Ashley Graham in this house. We love Saddler and his big sexy robe.  We’re out here loving that Leon’s already displaying signs of PTSD and wanting something to be different.

        ❛     seems fair, i guess. ❜   statement pronounced jadedly, eyes carefully watching the other man while he’s observing his commodious living space. it’s not something he’s particularly ashamed of. he wasn’t that careless young man anymore with piles of clothes, sports memorabilia and trophies scattered throughout. such noteworthy things were of too much importance to just leave lying around. he had a certain, special place stored for them - physical memories he refused to give up on. 

       he huffs and relieves a smirk at leon’s jest, following suit to the opposite end of the horizontal surface.    ❛   that’s that, uh, one number game, right? no – but claire plays it, i think. or she did.  ❜   his rear finds the edge of the brown donham armchair, already reaching over and cracking open one of the beers his procured onto his knee. the alcohol is gladly welcomed to his lips, savouring the bitter, malted-grain liquid flowing down his throat, expelling a much reliving suspire of delectation.   hell yeah.    ❛  gotta say, leon, you went all out with this ————– you sure there’s not some hidden agenda somewhere? ❜   he’s half joking, but then he’s not. still unable to fully convince himself it’s just a coincidence. 

   “She probably caught the habit from me.” Or was it the other way around? If he were honest, he can’t say he knows anymore. They’d danced and spun around each other so long, tangled in webs dripping red. They’d fought to get away from Raccoon, had hoped the years would snap a thread that miles couldn’t fray. 

  If Leon were honest with himself, Chris’s silence on the matter--on him and Claire---often rankled his confidence in their bromance and its storm quietly brewing since Lanshiang. 

  He crossed the room and threw open the curtains, pulled the shuddering window back to free the apartment of its stale, still air. Not much light left in this dying day, but the last few breaths of it were too precious to let go alone. Still...with enough shadows, Chris’s attempt to smile looked more like a caricature of one; the lines at his eyes and the corner of his mouth felt heavy just from looking at them.

   God, they’ve gotten old. 

   “Agendas are for politicians. Last I checked, grunts don’t get a say in the blueprint.” One quick step into the kitchen to grab the roll of paper towels, and Leon invited himself to sit on the sofa beside the armchair. A good touch for the man cave, a throne, though Redfield looked like he’d capsize the thing getting up too quickly. 

   Brown paper tore as he divvied out two loaded, soggy boxes of fries, two burgers (one veggie burger, one with bacon), and two generous cuts of apple and cherry pie. Leon grinned, shoving two piping hot fries in his mouth. “If this don’t change your life, we’re hopeless.”
