That’s very true. Unfortunately the rest of high school is still mired deep in the rather bleak swamp that is social hierarchy. Making friends with those who are different from you only adds to your strength as a person, which is true beyond high school, of course. Oh no, it can’t go by quickly enough for me. 

Well, in a couple of months, we’ll be able to leave it all behind us. No looking back. The uncertainty has me anxious, but I’m still excited for it all.

RACHEL: I can see myself doing that, honestly. A modern Eponine, with hopefully a much happier ending. I would do anything to be in New York. I assume I'll have to take a job while in school, anyway. I picture myself as a waitress in a little diner.

MADISON: Little diner? Go for the big leagues and work at Ellen's Stardust. Work on Broadway before you're *on* Broadway.

Summer for me means church camp, which I definitely love. I’m just still not a fan of the weather. Oh, I still have snowball fights and make snowmen. I mean, why pass up the chance to have fun just because of your age? It’s only a number.

I will, yeah. I don’t have a date but I don’t really know many people outside of Glee club, and it’s starting to look like you guys are pairing up. I like helping people out. I’m more than able, and there are so many people who are less fortunate than I am.

To each their own, I suppose. But playing in the snow kind of lost it’s appeal years ago.

Nothing wrong with going stag! Plus, glee club is the hired band, so I think we kinda have to be there now. That’s a great attitude to have,

You’re out of here in 2 months, I’ve still got another year and I need to establish dominance or risk being walked on. I believe that I have it in the bag, but someone else could still win, several people could still be nominated - they haven’t been announced yet. So I think being pissed at me for not declining a nomination is unnecessary. 

Head Cheerio will pretty much guarantee you queen of the school. I’m not pissed at you, I’m just pointing out that I think your plan is incredibly selfish.

Can I ask why? It seems like people with a college degree and people without one have pretty much the same amount of shit luck in finding a job these days. Especially for singers and actors and stuff like that.

A lot of making it in the performance industry is who you know. I might be in class with the next big thing who will call me up when they need to cast their love interest. Or my professor talks me up to his producer friend. Plus, professionally honing my craft gives me an edge. I have a lot of skills, but I won’t claim to have them all yet.

RACHEL: It's always been about New York for me. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't gotten into a school there.

MADISON: If I were to guess? Gone anyway and became the "starving artist" type. Sharing a loft with six people and working two jobs, begging people to take your shifts so you can go to an audition.

MADISON: You'd probably kill it too.

You could decline. Seeing as you’ll have a chance next year.

Coach Sue stopped me in the hallway and threatened to cut off my dreads if I didn’t do it myself. I’m entirely sure that she isn’t joking. Although I don’t know why she would care about my hair. 

Fair warning: she has opinions about everything. And isn’t afraid to enforce them.

Yeah, I mean, I get that she may be frustrated that someone she cares about isn’t fulfilling their potential or whatever. But I don’t think someone is failing in any way if they don’t go to college. Isn’t it better not to go if you don’t want to, rather than waste time and money piling debt and stress on yourself?

I get that. I really want to go to college, but I understand that it’s not part of everyone’s life. Not every life path needs it.

Hey y’all, this is me urging you all not to be too surprised when I’m inevitably nominated for prom queen this year. Seriously, I wouldn’t want any of your feelings to be too hurt if you don’t make it, and when you lose on top of it, I’d hate to see your beautiful smile turn into a frown. Try to keep your expectations low, and it’ll be just fine. 

Also, congrats to me on landing the hottest date, and congrats to him as well, while we’re at it. 

Prom queen is typically for seniors, isn’t it?

The weather I like the least is actually heat. It’s just so uncomfortable when the air is so soupy and thick, and there’s no breeze at all. I’d put snow over that.

Yeah, I bet. That sounds really beautiful. Well, that’s great, I hope you guys have an amazing time! Oh, that’s just what I usually do, it’s no big deal.

I’m torn on snow vs summer. Humidity is the worst, but sunbathing and pool days are awesome. Snow used to have the benefit of snowman building or snowball fights, but I’ve kinda outgrown that.

I think we will! Will you be at prom? Well, it’s very generous of you, especially if it’s a regular thing.
