⤷ bf!kaji, who'd much rather listen to you talk than speak himself. and while it may seem like he isn't listening half the time, he is. you thought he wasn't at first, but was pleasantly surprised after hearing him mention things from your past conversations.

⤷ bf!kaji, who often finds himself googling things you said you liked— a dessert he's not familiar with, an artist or band you mentioned, even a color he's never heard of before. he likes knowing what you like and what you're interested in.

⤷ bf!kaji, who makes playlists dedicated to you. he keeps it to himself though, he doesn't want his classmates, let alone you, know how down bad he is for you.

⤷ bf!kaji, who likes to give you lollipops in your favorite flavor. sure, he might lose a lollipop or two after, but seeing your face light up after recognizing the flavor makes it all worth it.

⤷ bf!kaji, who gives you song/artist recommendations, and you do too. even if both of you might not have the same music taste, you two do end up listening to eachothers recommendations.

⤷ bf!kaji, who, as reserved as he might be, opens up to you easily after some time. he knows you won't judge him, no matter how absurd of a thought it might be. and the feeling of your warm, comforting embrace after venting out every thought— every worry that keeps him up at night— calms him down more than anything.

⤷ bf!kaji, who, maybe besides hiragi, trusts only you to patch him up after a fight. you patch up each bruise with such care, scolding him lightly when you see a particularly bad one, he finds comfort in it. seeing you handle someone as violent as him with such love and care, you both find the moment endearing and intimate. he'd never admit it though.

⤷ bf!kaji, who goes out of his way to help you when he sees you doing something, even when you tell him he doesn't have to, he always insists. he isn't the best with words, so let him make up for it with his actions.

⤷ bf!kaji, who looks forward to seeing you everyday. he's softer when he's with you. seeing you smile, seeing you laugh, it washes away all the stress and worry he's been having that day.

⤷ bf!kaji, who's quite protective when it comes to you. he's always ready to take action. if he happens to hear somebody badmouthing you, or see someone lay as much as a finger on you, just know it won't end well for them.

⤷ bf!kaji, who's so inlove with you— you don't even know. you're his first love, first kiss, first everything. sometimes even he can't believe it himself— that someone like you could love someone like him. the people around him had always deemed him as vile, dangerous, a beast. but you never thought of him like that. you weren't afraid of him like the others, you've always welcomed him with open arms. he isn't good with his words, but he doubts that any word would be enough to describe how much he appreciates you— how much he loves you.

★ you and kaji unexpectedly end up finding a familiar feline !

★ implied fem!reader, fluff, tiny bit of angst, established relationship

★ cw: light swearing, ooc maybe?

it was a chilly afternoon. different hues of orange and pink adorn the sky, decorating the roads with a warm glow— illuminating the surrounding buildings just before the street lights turn on.

finally. you exit your class after a long day, heading to your locker to change shoes, waving your friends goodbye before exiting the school building. you look up at the sky, admiring the breathtaking view above you. slowly looking back ahead, you spot a familiar blonde leaning against your school gate not too far away, waiting for you.

"kajii!" you beam, hurrying towards him whilst waving excitedly. he looks back at you, removing both his headphones and the lollipop in his mouth.

"hey." he says in a monotone voice, taking your bag from your arm and carrying it in his own, despite the numerous keychains attached to it. what a gentleman.

"ready to go?" he asks in the same dull voice. only this time with a barely visible smile on his face.

"mhm, lets go!" you say, taking your hand in his, beginning to walk home.

you and kaji are currently walking back to your homes, something you have been doing even before the two of you started dating. guess living in the same neighborhood had its perks.

both of you were surrounded by a comfortable silence. kaji with his headphones on, and you admiring the sky, enjoying eachothers presence.

a few minutes in on your relaxing walk, you notice a bush a few steps ahead of you, rustling. you can also hear the faint sound of...jingles?

you ignored it, continuing to admire your surroundings until the movements continued, this time shaking more intensely, the weird jingling sound growing louder and louder. you begin to grow suspicious. stopping in your tracks and calling out to kaji, who took his headphones off, curious as to why you stopped so suddenly.

"kaji, check out that bush over there, its been rustling nonstop!" you point to the bush infront of you, looking at kaji.

"probably just a stray, dont mind it." he says nonchalantly.

"you sure? what if its a lost—" before you could finish your sentence, the unknown creature hops out of the bush, making you freeze. the animal showed itself infront of you and kaji, revealing...

...a white cat? wait— risa-chan!?

there was no mistaking it. the white cat hopped out of the bush, her yellow eyes looking at the two of you fondly "oh, risa-chan! who would've thought, huh? did you run away from home again?" you say enthusiastically, letting go of kaji's hand to hold her, much to his dismay. he grunts in response, taking the lollipop back in his mouth.

"but it's quite late, isn't it? granny's probably worried sick about you right now!" you exclaim, the cat meowing back, further confirming your assumption. "looks like she also put some effort in dressing you up too." you hum, observing the cat. she was wearing a white collar that matched her fur, adorned with a cute pastel ribbon with a bell attached. "you look so adorable!" you squealed.

kaji deadpans at your antics, annoyed that your walk together had been interrupted— all because of a cat. he wonders why none of the furin students have found her yet, knowing that her owner had probably asked them for help the moment she found out.

'what a sneaky cat.' he thinks.

"kaji! lets get her back home. its getting dark, wouldnt want granny to worry anymore." you say, holding risa-chan in one arm, the other extending towards the blonde, waiting for him to hold your hand.

"mhm," snapping out of his daze, he puts his headphones back on, then reaches for your hand. "lets go." he murmurs, still munching on his lollipop. the two of you continue walking, a new companion accompanying you both.

it was now dark out, the sky now littered with stars, casting a light glow. the streetlights were now on, as well as the warm lights both inside and outside the shops and buildings. the atmosphere felt comforting, a stark contrast to the chilly air surrounding the both of you.

you and kaji finally made it to granny's place after a few minutes of walking, greeting the fellow townsfolk on the way who doted on the two of you, flustering kaji quite a bit. though he tried his best to hide it.

much to kaji's surprise, risa-chan had been surprisingly obedient the entire time. not once did she try to pry herself of off your grip. he'd even go as far as too say she enjoyed being held by you. looks like she has a favorite.

"phew, we made it! hurry, lets knock." you say, hurryingly making your way to the door, knocking on it a few times. the white cat was in your arms with kaji standing right behind you, upset that you let go of his hand a second time. he stood there glaring at the cat, who stared back with an innocent look that he deemed hid hostility.

'so much for bringing you home.' he muttered.

just then, the door creaked open, revealing the familiar old lady.

"oh my, well hello to the both of you!" she beams, a happy smile on her face, "and what brings you two here?" she asks.

she then takes notice of the white cat you were holding in your arms, her face contorting into a hopeful expression.

"ah! dear, could that be my risa-chan?" she asks, eyes looking at you both expectantly.

"mhm! me and kaji found her on our way back home," you tell her, holding risa-chan out to the granny. "here, i bet you were worried sick!" you exclaim, smiling.

"oh, my risa-chan!" the granny exclaims, taking the cat into her arms. "i was so worried about you, i couldnt find you anywhere! just where were you hiding? oh you naughty cat!" she scolds, holding her cat close.

"why, i cannot thank you two enough! thank you for finding my risa-chan." she thanks both of you, her smile widening. "no problem! glad we were able to help." you bow, grinning back at her.

kaji looks at the two of you fondly. who would've thought that you two would be returning a lost cat on the way back home, and risa-chan out of all cats. that reckless, headache-inducing little—

well, how can he complain when you look so happy right now? as long as you're happy, that's all that really matters.

"just be more careful next time. we cant guarantee her safety when she's roaming around the town unsupervised, so keep an eye on her so that this doesn't happen again." he scolds, earning a sheepish look from the old lady.

"yes, i know dear. from now on ill be keeping a close eye on her." she replies calmly. "but if it ever does happen again, i'll be relying on you furin boys to handle it!" she beams proudly. earning a gruff from the blonde and a teasing look from you. "oh! and while you two are still here, i have some leftover dango in the fridge. come in, come! ill go get it for you, as thanks for finding my risa-chan!" she urges, beckoning you two over to enter her house.

"really? thank you so much!" you take your shoes off and enter her house, kaji doing the same.

after bidding your goodbyes to the old lady, you and kaji take off with your dangos in hand. his lollipop long discarded and headphones rested on his neck. now, it was just the two of you.

"long day, huh?" you say, looking up at him, taking a bite of your dango. "woah! this dango tastes amazing! i need to know the recipe, her dangos are the best!" you ramble, munching on the sweet treat.

"yeah, it was a long day. can't wait to go back home, that cat was a pain in the ass." he sighs, brows furrowing slightly as he takes a bite of his dango.

"oh cmon, dont be like that! atleast we got something out of it." you tell him, waving the treat in the air. "besides," you carry on. "you got to spend more time with me! isnt that great?" you smirk, taking in the barely visible shade of pink creeping up on his cheeks.

"whatever." the blonde murmurs, looking away and taking another bite of his dango. "wasn't worth all that work."

"hey!" you exclaim. "atleast we helped someone out. i got to hold a cute cat too!" you protest, humming to yourself as you remember the few minutes you and risa-chan shared. he grimaces slightly, recalling the word you used to describe the feline. 'cute', as if. he only grumbles in response.

after about 10 more minutes of walking, you two made it to your neighborhood. both of you stopping outside your house, seeing as its the nearest. it's a good thing you both live so close to eachother.

"hey," you mutter. he looks at you, staring directly into your eyes. gaze focusing on you. "yeah?"

"i...really enjoyed today." you look at him, beaming him a bright smile. "im sorry if i made you stay out longer than expected. i just...i got really excited— y'know, seeing risa-chan and all." you stammer, an apologetic smile adorning your features.

"what are you on about? dont apologize." he replies immediately, his face softening ever so slightly. "im not mad about anything— i really enjoyed our time together, i swear." you look up at him hesitantly, his gaze softening when your eyes meet his.

"hey, risa-chan might be a pain in the ass, but i never said you were. you got nothing to apologize for, you dumbass." he says, brows furrowing. but you know he means good when you see the genuine look on his face, cheering you up instantly.

"mhm, got it." you tell him, a smile on your face. "yknow, for someone so brash, you can be a real sweetheart sometimes." you tease, seeing his ears turn red in embarrassment.

"okay, okay— i get it. now shut up and quit acting like that." he grumbles, a small frown forming on his lips, a dust of pink on his cheeks too. just barely visible, to which he immediately tries to hide by opening another lollipop. but before he gets the chance to, you lean in closer and place a small peck on his lips.

soon, the faint blush he tried so hard to hide became a more intense shade of pink, now unable to cover up. you perk up, amused at his angry-flustered state.

"w— what the hell? you idiot, don't do things like that so suddenly!" he grunts, trying to keep his composure, despite the loud thumping in his ears and chest. but his face doesn't seem to cooperate.

"okay okay," you laugh, both hands in the air surrendering. "it's getting late now, i should get going. see you tomorrow!" you wave, about to walk away until he calls you.

"hey— wait." he stops you, making you turn your head back to face him again.

he places a small peck on your cheek.

"see you...tomorrow.." he mutters lowly, waiting for you to go inside your home, desperately trying to look anywhere but your eyes out of embarrassment. "are you gonna go now or what?" he says, face still flushed.

"oh! yeah— ill be going now— bye!" you snap out of your daze, hurriedly making your way to the door, looking at him and giving him one last wave before closing your door. he waves back, now looking at your back as he watches you close your door. he looks up at the sky, now pitch black with a hint of blue.

'what a day.' he thinks.

he cant wait to spend time with you again tomorrow.
