Lawsan can ballroom dance here is my evidence:

Doflamingo loves his fun little pasttimes. Giolla is all for the arts. Boom, dance classes for the kids. Doflamingo also thinks it's super funny to make the little angry one learn how to dance.

Sanji's intially raised with all the traditional etiquettes of a prince, Judge finds social dancing important for networking and thus acceptable. Later on Sanji hones this skillset when he's older to impress the ladies.

Friday night dance-off on the Thousand Sunny. Law is pressured into participating, but he also has a stubborn streak. He will come out of this as a winner or hurl himself over the side of this ugly boat. Partner dances, they sweep the competition.

Partner dances are hard, for not only a special skillset but also chemistry. It's natural that Law had picked Sanji, who he deemed the most skillful in the crew at dance, as his partner, but he'd be lying if he didn't admit that he did find some level of comfort with Sanji. As someone who was strong, sensitive, diligent, kind, it was really easy to grow to trust Sanji. (He looked like someone else, with his hair, his smoke, his fire, his heart on his sleeves. Far too easy to trust him.)

Sanji thinks Law is good looking. But he also finds a familiar character in Law. Above all that, Sanji loves taking care of people, even if he doesn't want to admit it. They could be something more with the chance and the time, something neither of them have.

So, a dance.

Sanji asks Franky for a favour shortly after they leave Water 7, which is to give him a full body check-up. Franky's obviously confused, but Sanji insists, so they end up in the workshop. Franky asks for any specific thing he wants him to look out for and Sanji goes "I don't know. If something's there, then, good, as in, not good as in there's something there, but good as in I'm glad we found it. If there isn't, then, well."

They start out simple, metal detectors, heat signature detectors, then when they get to the frequency detectors-

"I found something."

"What? No. Are you sure?"

"It's small, bro. Like, super small. Right there, in your shoulder, somethin' made of glass, or some type of special material."

"It's reacting with the frequency detector: Pulses, spaced out from what I can see, but pretty large in magnitude. Made to travel super long distances."

Sanji's starting to panic now, "But I've never- I don't... What is it?"

He doesn't know what it is, Franky thinks, brows furrowed, this could be serious, dangerous. "If I'm not wrong, it's most likely a tracker."

"A high-tech one, from what I can see. It would've had to been made really small and with materials to withstand breakage, not to mention materials that didn't irritate the flesh. If you don't know when it was put in, then depending on how long ago it was inserted, it might have some sort of self-sustaining energy source. Real high tech, probably stupid expensive."

Franky's musings make Sanji want to hurl. It feels all too easy to reach his other arm up and claw at his shoulder till something falls out. He grinds his teeth and plasters both arms to the metal table below him, cool surface heating to an uncomfortable body temperature.

Franky looks him in the eye, expression stern. "So, what do you want to do about it?"

Sanji's always prided himself on having a cool head when things go into batshit chaos (see: every feud the Strawhats have found themselves in since the beginning) and that wasn't going to stop now. He has a tracker in him, fun, almost definitely put there by Germa, so fun. But no one has come after them so far, so he's probably low priority on their list of things-to-look-out-for, or not something that has caught their eye yet. The Marines haven't assigned him a bounty yet, so there's nothing tying him or his name to the Strawhats other than word of mouth so far. It must look like he's bouncing across the Grand Line in a random pattern, unless someone can connect his movement to Luffy's which has been documented to some extent in the newspapers.

Above all, there's no reason for Germa to be coming after him. There's nothing he could give them as he is right now, cook to a crew of pirates, except for the satisfaction of beating him down -- well, that's been motivation enough for his brothers in the past, hasn't it?

"Take it out," he decides. "But keep it intact. Can you do that?"

The guy is shaking. He probably doesn't even realise it himself. Franky wants so badly to reach out, offer some sort of comfort, but they barely know each other. The best he can do is be courageous for both of them, "I can, but it would be better if we discuss this with the little doctor too. Whenever you're ready."

They go through with it, they get it out successfully, they monitor it and Franky gets to do all the discrete testing he wants with it. Afterwards, Sanji thinks about what to do with it. He doesn't want to sic it onto some random ship, or any option that risks some innocent bystanders to the wrath of Germa. It probably shouldn't be destroyed, that would alert the guys on the other end of the chip immediately. Too long at a stationary location would be suspicious too. He's at a loss, till Franky comes up with a pretty super solution-

Franky makes a remote controlled boat which moves in a simulated route and eventually sinks itself, and by then, the Thousand Sunny would've been far away and untraceable.

In truth, the chip is barely monitered and only by Reiju. No one else accesses Sanji's files, especially Judge who wants to forget he exists.

Thoughts about Sanji and Franky

Sanji didn't like Franky all that much at the start, given all that happened with Usopp. But also, I think, because Franky's this hulking man with bright blue hair and mechanical body parts. Absolutely not. But I also think that Sanji, bleeding heart, forgives as fast as he angers. If he spends more than two hours with anyone he starts growing fond of them because it's in his nature.

My heartpirate!sanji au thoughts are that sanji, law and the rest go through lengths to hide his identity, especially since law is gunning for warlord position, so they refer to sanji as "mr. prince" in the presence of strangers, keep him masked up etc.

A possible side effect would be that germa actually never find sanji again and big mom ends up killing them all. Sanji reads it on the newspaper on the way to Wano and has the worst afternoon ever.

Another effect is either

a) Sanji gets a bounty poster that looks super mysterious and places a target on his back (Luffy thinks he's rad as hell, every other sane person thinks this is a guy to look out for)

b) He gets a bounty much later and is underestimated by enemies (WIN WIN SCENARIO FOR ME!)

I thought of Sanji going to Punk Hazard with Law, either by arguing with him and convincing him or by sneaking onto his boat. Sanji can confront Law because he understands Law through and through, they've been through a lot, (and have similar ways of acting. Cough cough.) So Sanji lays it all out for Law and Law cannot decline because Sanji *is* the most qualified to go with him. He’s stealthy, he’s calculating, he’s strong and he has experience with laboratories (shudders).

One scene I always picture is towards the end of the Punk Hazard arc, when everyone is on the wagon to leave the laboratory. The strawhats haven’t seen Sanji before but Law has told them about his companion, they know the stories about the Heart Pirates and the doors in the lab were always open at the right times during the escape.

Law: We can’t go off yet. Prince- he’s not here yet.

Chopper: The poison is spreading fast, by my estimate, it’ll reach us within the next minute!

Law: I know! I know, just… I can’t…

Luffy: We should go now, start the engine guys!

Law: NO! I just said- Luffy: You’re nakama, aren’t you? Then, you’ll trust him.

Law: …

Luffy: We go, now, and Prince-guy will catch up.

The wagon shoots off and Law expands his sphere to scan for Sanji’s presence. Just as they reach the outdoors, he feels it — someone in the air, approaching fast, with a suitcase full of files. He teleports Sanji immediately, into his arms, holds him tight. They’re both breathing heavily. Sanji’s shaking, bleeding from like 20 places, body temperature running wild, hair windswept and he goes, “Sorry c’ptn, I think a few of the files flew out while I was running.” and Law mumbles some prayer in Northern into Sanji’s hair.
