i'm like this bc my parents didn't give me the sex talk as a kid so i've just been guessing the whole time and i've come to the conclusion that it probably involves wearing a dog collar while someone is nice and/or mean to you
#ik denk dat het woord waar je naar zoekt mogelijk ''seksuele voorlichting'' is?#dat is in ieder geval wat mijn ouders en school het noemde lol

#prev: the latter i think#bigotry plays a definite role as well#but i think its people being bombarded by everything that's bad in the world#theyre made aware of all the harms being inflicted#with no easy answers#and then suddenly theres a loud man who claims to have all the easy answers#e.g. climate change is terrifying & a slow mortal danger. theres no easy fix#the thought of it brings a lot of people anxiety#and then suddenly theres a guy saying that it isnt real. and presenting ''evidence'' that sounds just compelling enough#that people cling to it to rid themselves of the anxiety#so its just misdirected fear mostly. people need tools. they need education on how to organize. how to create effective change#and how to manage anxiety in healthy ways that isnt pure escapism & denial#but thats not the path of least resistance so its hard to get people there#anyway yeah 99% of the time these kind of things stem from anxiety & the desire to rid themselves from that anxiety asap#fear is a mind killer etc etc

#prev... its because it is a special distinction#marxism is a branch of communism. based on the communist writings of karl marx#you have a lot of other branches within communism named after different people or different ideas#so marxism was named after marx because its based on his writing. he's the one who spearheaded that specific branch of communism#so its not a world view based one guy. its just the name of a political leaning#based on literature#(also i do hope peoples worldviews arent entirely based around economic politics)#if you're interested in commumism there's a lot of interesting literature out there for you :) both historical and current#peter kropotkin's conquest of bread is the one im currently reading#im sure there are a lot of communists and anarchists on here who'd be happy to give reading suggestions or more info

for context, the CEO of tumblr once said that tumblr would be "the next PDF", (which confused everyone and turned into a massive joke). that's what's being referenced here

#not aimed at you specifically person who i reblogged this from#just in general#because i know not everyone is familiar with tumblr history or tumblr in-jokes#i don't remember if it was the current CEO or the prev one. i think its the current one who said it#when he'd freshly become CEO of this site#it showed how out-of-touch he was lol

men have set the bar is so fucking low, where i think a lot of girls get distracted by the questions of “is my boyfriend a good person? does he respect me? will he hurt me? is he interested in anything other than my appearance?” rather than “are me and my boyfriend compatible? do we have fun together? do we have interests that align? am i enthusiastic about my love for him?”

Wheat fields are more mystical than fields of other crops. You are 7,000 times more likely to meet an old god or see a portent of doom in a wheat field than in a field of like… soybeans.

vent post. There are two stories i was told in my teenage years that even before i had a real concept of trans issues made me uninterested in discussing the supposed sacredness and safety of separated sex-based spaces.
First, when i was like 13 or 14 my PE teacher told us about a time she went to a women's public restroom, some guy was hanging out outside the bathrooms, she didn't think anything of it, went to the bathroom, and he walked in after her and like, creeped on her over the top of the stall. She was ok, she wasn't telling us this to scare us, just telling us what to do in situations like that (and iirc she was telling the whole co-ed class this, not just girls, bc it's useful for everyone), but this taught me immediately and forever that there's nothing actually keeping these spaces separate really, that anyone can be a creep in any space, and that establishing a space like that as for women only isn't actually particularly useful for safety.
Second, when i was 16 i was at an anime convention, a friendly acquaintance of mine and i ended up in conversation outside, and he showed me his bare wrist and told me he'd been kicked out. A female friend of his had stepped in dog poop outside, and between that and the stress of the convention she'd had a bit of an emotional breakdown, so being her friend, he started comforting her and ushered her into the women's restroom so they could wash the poop off her shoe together. And because he was a man who went into the women's bathroom, he got kicked out, no matter that he was doing something that was actually beneficial to a woman. Punishing a woman's friend for supporting her was supposed to... protect her somehow? This made it clear to me that a no-exceptions rule separating the sexes like that wasn't actually inherently good for everyone.
And this isn't even getting into me as a child needing to accompany my younger sister to the restroom when we were out with just my dad because she had certain support needs past the age he felt comfortable bringing her into the men's room with him. And what if I'd been born a boy, or she'd been the first born? Who's helping her then?
And of course even putting all this aside, we should always prioritize compassion and support anyway. But i never even needed to meet a trans person to know that "keeping men out of women's bathrooms" is silly nonsense. But trans people also need to pee anyway and as humans they have that right, so leave them the fuck alone. your precious women's restroom is just a fucking room with a door, holy shit give it a fucking rest, if someone is attacking you in the bathroom that's bad and if someone is in there to pee that's good and it doesn't fucking matter what their junk is or was when they were born.
a woman could have done the exact same thing to my PE teacher and it would have also been bad no matter how "supposed" to be in the restroom she was, and no one should ever be punished for helping a crying friend wash their shoe.
Anyway i know I'm speaking to like-minded folks here, i just think about those two stories literally every time bathroom gender shit comes up and it pisses me off.
