My editing skills likely aren’t good enough to do this any kind of justice. But this is me tinkering around with photoshop and recreating a scenario where Vader saves Luke on Cloud City and they plan a coup d’etat to destroy the Emperor and run away from the galaxy together as father and son.

This is basically the whole gist of the the Luke and Vader Au.
Vader often has these moody angst sessions and Luke just comes in like a ray of sunshine and Vader is just like MY IS SON IS PERFECT. BEST SON. And all angst is forgotten.
BTW this is what Vader looks like for the first couple of years with Luke. The healing process on his body isn’t complete yet but he can breathe without the mask if he doesn’t push himself.

My favorite things about Luke and Vader fics
(the nice ones, not the Dark!Luke ones, I like those, too, though):
-Vader being a protective (even to a possessive level) Sith parent -the Imperial medics being nice with Luke/ liking him -people closer to Luke and Vader talking about how Luke haves an impact on Vader, saying he might change the empire/ the galaxy one day/ placing their hopes in Luke -generally some Imperials (captains, medics) being very nice people -Luke pouting and Vader having no idea how to parent -“son” -people trying to kill Luke and suddenly finding themselves wrapped up in the wrath of an angry Sith -people crawling through ventilation shafts (I swear it happens on a regular base!) -Luke and Vader describing each other´s Force presence -Piett suffering (I love Piett, how could you NOT) -Piett and Luke interactions in generell -Luke and Vader FLYING -Luke making hopeless escape attempts -people being afraid of stopping determined Luke cause he´s Vader son and he CAN`T BE HARMED -people in need of finding Luke cause he´s Vader´s son and he CAN`T BE HARMED -Piett (and the other guys) not knowing what to think about Luke when he hasn´t been introduced as Vader´s son yet– who is this guy?? Why is Vader so obsessed with him? How can he be so rude to Lord Vader??? How is he still alive????? Is he a guest?? A prisoner? A personal imperial agent of Vader´s?? A rebel? -Luke being totally smug about it -Luke using his Force abilities in front of the others and for a moment they loose it -Vader trusting Piett enough to look after his son -Piett is of course confused but listens to his orders, as usual -Luke accidentially revealing his identity and shocking/traumatizing (preferably Piett) the other person in the process -Vader trying to comfort Luke -upset Vader -Vader aka “I am a terrifying and horrible Lord of the Sith, I am death, I am– Luke, wait, what are you doing? Luke, are you okay? Luke, can I do something for you?? -Luke being unpleased with Vader being on the verge of murdering someone and Vader nearly immediately backs off -Luke wondering about his already-prepared quarters- "and how is it that these clothes are so perfectly fitting?” sudden mental image of Vader sending spies to the Rebellion only in order to find out his clothes´ size -ANGST AND PAIN -the two idiots who talk badly about Vader and suddenly realize that Luke is in the room -Luke ending up injured in the medbay at some point and Vader hovering and pacing nervously -“He´s hating me now, doesn´t he? I´m sure he…” “Daad, I don´t hate you.” -star destroyers being star destroyers. I love them. Especially the Excecutor -Luke making friends and them being terrified of Vader -Luke being all “gotta be careful, make sure father doesn´t notice what I´m up to…” “SON WHAT ARE YOU DOING” -Luke throwing tantrums (and everyone wondering how he is STILL ALIVE) -at the beginning, when Luke has been caught and one officer is totally gleeful like “You will wish you´d have died rather than being handed to Vader. He will torture and break…” and Luke being smug like “Nope, absolutely not, you have NO idea”

au where padme lives and raises her two children thinking that anakin died on mustafar and works behind the scenes in the rebellion
and anakin/vader thinks that he killed padme
and they both think the other is dead and vader hates the shadowy leader of the rebellion and padme hates the emperor’s black-suited attack dog
i just have a lot of ideas about this idk

Wedge knew Luke Organa, the last Prince of Alderaan. Met him even, once or twice. But that still didn’t explain how they’d ended up side by side, dodging blaster fire, desperately trying to escape Imperial clutches.
Happy Star Wars Day everyone! I drew another thing!
You can see a process gif of this image - if that’s the sort of thing that interests you - on patreon.

They were backed into a corner. Wedge wasn’t sure where his blaster had gone, but it wasn’t in his hand. Luke was too injured to even wield a weapon anymore. But his lightsaber was on his belt.
Wedge isn’t going to let them die here. Not if he can help it.

Remember when that guy in The Clone Wars was like “Checkmate! Everyone here is A Good Person and only A Bad Person would kill me!” and then Anakin ‘Stabs-a-lot’ Skywalker stabbed him and the imperial march played?
Lordy goats alive, that scene alone should have ensured that show get renewed for 34 seasons right then and there no questions asked

Luke: There’s gotta be a way for me to defeat Vader without killing him.
Han, sarcastically: I know, how about we show him his baby pictures, and all the happy memories will make him good again!
Luke: Do you really think that would work???
Han: NO!

I wonder how Darth Dad feels about his "I've killed very many fathers" line after he finds out about Luke, I mean, it was a cool line (my favorite is still "All I'm surrounded by fear and dead men" tho) and I know he's too respectable to facepalm, but if it were me I know that it would haunt me, especially since he would have a lot of time to think about his first "official" encounter with his son, I'd be like "Couldn't help making a smart comment, could you, ya dingus?"
I’m sure he regrets a lot of things he said and did to Luke before he knew exactly who he was. I think the one that probably haunts him the most is how close he was to shooting Luke down over the Death Star. If he had, he probably never would have known that he killed his son, but afterwards, knowing how close he was to unknowingly killing him… I think that would be one of the worst.

I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS COMIC AGAIN AND I NEED TO YELL ABOUT IT SOME MORE. It’s such a startlingly clear example of why the idea that the Jedi teach suppression of emotions–you know, setting aside that they have repeatedly and explicitly said in canon that feelings are normal and you shouldn’t suppress them–isn’t accurate. This comic is set during the early days of the war, around the earliest point of The Clone Wars (the episode “Cat and Mouse”), and we see Anakin being very emotional here. He slams his fist down on the table right in front of Obi-Wan, he makes angry faces. We also see him having white hot rage at the slaves being used by the Separatists because it reminds him of his own past. Anakin is very, very much driven by his emotions in this comic. But the person who comments on this, who says that he’s making decisions from an emotional place, is Yularen. Yularen is the one who gets on his case about it. Obi-Wan Kenobi, his Jedi Master and teacher, someone who very much believes in the structure of the Jedi, is the one who says–when Anakin makes this display of intense feelings–”You’ve come a long way, my former Padawan. Trust your feelings, and trust the Force.” This shows–especially when combined with things like Mace saying “Emotion is our shared tongue.” in Jedi of the Republic or Depa saying, “Those emotions are valuable and should not be suppressed, but you must learn to rule them, Padawan, lest they rule you.“ in Kanan: The Last Padwan, or Obi-Wan saying, "It’s not that we’re not allowed to have these feelings. It’s natural.” in The Clone Wars–that the Jedi aren’t trying to deny that they have feelings. I mean, hell, their entire teaching structure seems to be based around facing the fears and anxieties you have within yourself, if that’s how younglings get their first kyber crystal, if that’s how Ezra becomes a Jedi, if that’s how Rey takes another step to becoming a Jedi, if that’s how Kanan as well has to face his own fears re: teaching Ezra, if that’s what Luke has to do on Dagobah. And that’s even before you get into that Jedi show emotion all over the place. I’ve seen Yoda get angry, I’ve seen Obi-Wan light up with joy, I’ve seen Ahsoka deal with all sorts of complicated feelings, etc. The only times they give someone a talking to about things–like when Anakin is nearly bursting with rage over Rush Clovis, where he’s in danger of hurting others or himself, because that’s literally how Force powers work, like Ahsoka getting knocked out by Vader’s rage or Ezra causing the fyrnocks to attack because of his fear–is when they’re in danger of hurting someone or themselves. But when Anakin is coming from a good place, like he is here? When he may not be perfect, but he’s working towards the good, re: his emotions? It’s OTHER PEOPLE who say he’s being emotional, and it’s THE JEDI WHO SAY “TRUST YOUR FEELINGS. I’M PROUD OF YOU.”
#this is the depiction of jedi i want#bc otherwise luke calling himself a jedi doesn't really have that much power to it#they're not vulcans lmao#honestly i just act like only the OT is canon and anything else is up to me to decide lmao#picking and choosing canon is the best approach for star wars and many other multiple decade franchises

Star Wars Battlefront IV
Free Radical had some interesting ideas for the follow-up to Battlefront 3. Free Radical’s Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was reportedly close to completion when the plug was pulled in 2008: Close enough that quite a bit of gameplay footage has surfaced over the years, and also for design work on Battlefront 4 to have begun. Here are some of the designs for Battlefront IV. The ultimate what if. Where the bad guys turn good and the good guys turn bad.
Dark Obi-Wan

Emperor Vader

Vader with no suit

Redeemed Anakin

Dark Luke

Jedi Leia

Dark Leia

Dark Chewbacca

Dark Windu

Jedi Dooku

Jedi Maul

Jedi Ventress

Non-Cyborg Grievous
