A couple years down the line, Jack was invited to the Bittle 4th of July party as Bitty’s official boyfriend. Though Suzanne, Coach, Moomaw and Bitty’s favorite cousins were pretty chill about it, there was still some muttering and misplaced comments. Like during the friendly competitions.

‘Alright,’ called Coach to the line of participants, ‘this race is a simple one, from here to the tree on the other side of the field- But you gotta be carrying your partner.’

The men got ready- picking wives and girlfriends in their arms, backs and shoulders. One of Bitty’s less pleasant uncles snickered his way:

‘You gonna let your man carry you, Dicky?’

Bitty, without blinking, squatted and grabbed Jack in a practised fireman carry. His uncles and cousins stared at him- he was half their size and lifting more than 200 lbs of NHL player. 

Jack was smug for the whole evening.

lots of expectations placed on bitty as the son

bitty’s femininity could possibly be a self-defense mechanism

not stupid but not a good student

not the most responsible person

SHITTY

huge amount of white guilt

dominates a conversation

ngozi would tell him to shut up

jack is amused by shitty’s rants

ngozi joked that jack would be like “HAHA if i went to the nhl i would never have known anyone this crazy” *single tear rolls down his cheek*

ngozi emphasised that shitty doesn’t know about jack’s sexuality/does not orchestrate stuff between jack and bitty

shitty is not watching over jack/bitty like “i got them together, yes!”

would be a very chivalrous boyfriend because he likes to take care of people and make them happy

at the same time tho very arrogant

PARSE

is the antagonist, so not necessarily meant to be likeable

we know about 5% of his story

ngozi thinks it’s a bit foolhardy to make snap judgements

he’s not an axe murderer, as an antagonist parse is relatively mild

doesn’t become really important until year 4

LARDO

people are mostly accurate in their characterization

not perfectly badass all the time

“even the strongest of characters are weak at times”

no one managed the team while lardo was in kenya

she puts on a distant, always-chill-artist mask

worries about crushes and looking cool like regular people

lardo has communication problems, which is why she befriends outgoing people

she communicates with art

CHOWDER

2nd generation chinese

parents went to samwell

dad immigrated as a teen

mom was born in america

very much tied into his culture

speaks very poor chinese

taking chinese right now

chowder has an older sister

infantilized by bitty and yet first person to have a girlfriend (go chowder)

SAMWELL TEAM

fandom tends to mischaracterize that the team knows jack and bitty are in ~~love~~ (they don’t)

it would be a pretty big jump for team members to assume/know without a doubt

ngozi can’t imagine holster sees jack/bitty laughing and be like “welp i know how this is gonna end”

he might think bitty has feelings and find it sad because “aw bitty has a crush”

he maybe thinks it’s mean of jack to lead him on
