I'm nowhere near done with this concept but I decided to make my own star trek alien races. It's a group of three planets that are spoken about as a group rather than seperate places (Think how Britain is used more than more specific labels). None of the planets have names yet I still need to work on it a lot more and I currently have an alphabet in the working (they speak English but just have different lettering). The planets are fairly far from other solar systems and so don't receive many visitors. They're not really on the radar of planets due to their distance yet they make an effort to interact with other planets, whether that be friendly or otherwise.

First group

Basic appearance:

Traditional clothing (feminine then masculine)

That is both the regular clothing and also traditional formal wear (inspired by traditional Inuit clothing).

They live in a very cold climate that has very few seasons, they all could pass as winter regardless. They wear animal skins to keep warm and their hair is transparent, similar to Arctic creatures on earth, that reflect the snow and give it a white appearance. They have natural, scar-like markings on their faces that vary in magnitude from person to person. The women of the planet traditionally grow out their hair and never purposely cut it. The only time you'll see someone with short hair is if it was cut during combat or if they have experienced a loss of a loved one. Hair is to be kept short if cut against their will as a show of strength, it is only temporary shortness if grief is the reasoning.

Second group

Basic appearance:

This planet is predominantly made of water. It is also in a seemingly constant state of darkness. The people developed a loss of sight, rendering them blind, and then developed a form of echolocation. They produce a humming noise, a frequency too deep to be heard by humans, to find their way around as well as a 'antenna' on their head for extra guidance if illness occurs, making their echolocation useless. Due to their lack of sight, they don't have much traditional clothing, only clothing that serves its purpose. They have webbed hands and feet and an eel-esque tail. They have dark skin with lighter markings over the entire body except the tail and ears. Instead of having gills, they breathe through their skin by gas exchange like certain amphibians (look it up I'm not crazy). They are the most antisocial of the three races. (Also fun fact they never blink and don't close their eyes when they sleep so they just look like they've just gone and died out of nowhere).

Third group

Basic appearance:

This planet is the closest to their star and so has the warmest climate. The planet consists of mostly desert, with the occasional oasis here and there. It is the smallest of the three planets and subsequently has the smallest population. This is also the fighting force of the three planets, forming an army despite being in very few conflicts. They wear tough armoured clothing and are often scarred from battle. They have wide mouths to hold their large, sharp teeth and have completely black, slender eyes. They traditionally carve symbols and words in their skin to show both strength towards enemies but also for more sentimental reasons. They have bug-like antenna that can be used as, fairly weak, appendages.

So uhhh that's all I have so far! I'll probably edit this post if anything is added or gets changed. Let me know if anything wouldn't make sense to the star trek canon. I'm very new so I'd appreciate any help or ideas from other people!

Losing interest in something is the worst. I might take a break from posting about my TEC ocs guys BC I'm heavily fixated on star trek rn and maybe I'll regain the energy to write if I focus on those ocs

Someone gave me the idea to write my ocs reactions to Joe's shop being burnt down so here it is! I was originally gonna write for all my ocs but I've ran out of motivation so sorry this is it unless I pick it back up

Gwen Wilkins

When Gwen first saw the smoke on the way to her shift, she just assumed someone had started a barbeque or some kids were pissing about with lighters. Little did she know those kids playing with lighters were people she knew...

She could've sworn her heart nearly stopped when she saw the smoke was coming from her workplace and then nearly stopped again when she saw the culprits. Gwen says she barely remembered even approaching the group and that she must've blacked out. She still doesn't know what came over her but in that moment something snapped and, suddenly, she was running on pure adrenaline.

"FUCK YOU! YOU INCONSIDERATE, SELFISH ASSHOLES!" she remembers screaming, finding her voice all of a sudden after it seemed lost for so long, "You really don't care about anyone other than yourselves, huh? Honestly you're pathetic. I don't even know why I would even think you could be half decent people for once!"

She noticed bill open his mouth to retaliate but she cut him off, she refused to let him get his way out of this, refused to bend to his will like usual,

"Do you know how much I needed this job? The pay might not be a lot but I need all the money I can get! Not like you care though- no you guys only care about your own problems because you refuse to accept the fact that you aren't the only people on the planet! Fuck you guys, I hope you get what you deserve..."

Gwen left without another word, leaving the club shell shocked at the, previously, practically mute girl they knew suddenly yell at the top of her lungs.

After a few weeks Gwen ended up reaching out to Jerry; she always thought he had something going for him and she didn't know why but she had an itching feeling he wasn't fully in on the whole 'burning down the store' plan. She also told the rest of her group about it, concerned about how she'd make money now. Her and Ironjaw looked for replacements together, bonding closer with eachother. Gwen didn't try reaching out to the other members of the club until much later in her life. People say that after that day, Gwen seemed to talk much more. Letting herself go and finally say the things she wanted to was very freeing and allowed her to exist without guilt, hopefully, unlike the Eltingville Club...

Gwen - Ruby (The Path), Took an accurate cosplay and added extra details and accessories to make it more interesting.

I didn't make Dawn because I don't think she'd be into cosplay and Pippa doesn't cosplay because she truly believes she is the characters she likes so she doesn't have to cosplay.

Sorry for being MIA so often recently I've been going through a rough patch and lost the energy to write but anyway here is more info about Gwen/Mousey.

Gwen Wilkins

What are their aspirations/dreams?

Gwen dreams of making her own doll company and designing her own lines of dolls. If she did make one, she says she'd either make it a fashion doll line or make nostalgic porcelain dolls. She has a money jar where she saves up to make her own dolls, even for just an indie project (she usually just spends it on the latest Monster High dolls that come out instead).

Do they have any insecurities?

Gwen is very insecure around people she's not too close with. She worries that they think she's weird or annoying. Even if they start the conversation and are being kind, she always assumes the worst and thinks they're just pretending to make her feel better. When talking to friends, she worries about being boring or uninteresting. Gwen also is concerned that her friends get annoyed at her social anxiety, always getting them to talk to people for her or skipping hangouts because she's too scared. As a whole, she just assumes she's unwanted unless directly told otherwise (which may be why Alex is so intimate with their friendship...)

Do they believe in anything? If so, what?

Gwen isn't religious, nor is her family but she did go to an all girls Catholic school for a large chunk of her childhood. The experience left her with some vaguely unsolved religious trauma around purity culture, sexuality and gender. She wouldn't consider converting to a major religion. The closest she got to a religion was the Greek Gods, I'm biased I'm sorry, because of the accepting nature of the community and how queerness was embedded within the belief.

Do they have any habits? If so, what are they?

Good habits: Always tries to make people feel seen and wanted, well kept skincare routine, never judges people or makes unfair assumptions, journaling about her thoughts and feelings.

Bad habits: Never asks for help/comfort, always puts others first even if it hurts her, stays in toxic relationships because she doesn't think she can do better, bites her nails and skin around nails.

Do they have siblings or people they'd consider siblings?

Gwen has an older brother in his twenties named Michael, but everyone called him Mike. The two aren't too close anymore as, when he was old enough, Mike moved back to Germany for work. When they were together, they were pretty close. Mike would defend his sister with his life but he'd never let her know that. He says he'll visit but Gwen isn't sure that she wants to see him, worried that she's changed too much and that she can't stand to see her brother losing his happy little sister he remembered. She just needs to get her mind under control!

Joan McCann

What are their aspirations/dreams?

Joan dreams of stardom. She wants to form a band and pursue a musical career. Joan has always loved singing and playing the guitar, a talent she often doesn't share, and want to share her love of music with the world. The last thing she'd want, she says, is to end up with a dead end job where noone knows her or cares to get to know her (if only she knew...)

Do they have any insecurities?

Joan is very insecure about her anger control, or lack of it. It's the reason she's burnt through so many friendships and left her alone until she met Alex and Gwen. She's constantly worried that her friends will see her blow her fuse and abandon her like everyone else has. This is mostly because of her deep set fear of abandonment caused by her parents. Joan was left as a child, around 9-11 years old, by her parents and was placed into the custody of her dysfunctional, but well-meaning Aunt. Being left forever at such a crucial time in her development affected her mental state greatly, making her defensive and distant.

Joan is also quite insecure of her looks. Whether it's her weight, skin, hair etc. she always has something negative to say about it. She hides behind a false confidence but she's really just a teen girl with a damaged ego and being surrounded by insensitive people, cough cough the Eltingville Club, definitely hasn't helped...

Do they believe in anything? If so, what?

Joan doesn't necessarily believe in anything but she finds herself having a strange kind of religious guilt. For example, she's terrified of the idea of Hell for her outbursts or any other unsavoury behaviours despite not actually believing in it. This also left her vaguely prudish in the sense that anything intimate was dirty or shameful. This left her go grow through puberty feeling very poorly about herself and her feelings. All in all, it made her even more emotionally constipated than ever.

Do they have any habits? If so, what are they?

Good habits: Doesn't let anyone say anything bad about themselves unless in a joking manner, prides herself on smelling good (she has the yummiest hair products and perfumes 100%), Defends the defenceless (never lets anyone speak poorly of her friends).

Bad habits: Displaces her angers at the wrong people, Hits herself when frustrated, Drops friendships if she gets insecure that they'll leave her first, Gets into fights easily.

Do they have siblings or people they'd consider siblings?

Joan always viewed her Aunt as more of an older sister figure than a mother figure. She was too immature to be a mother. They had banter like sisters, hung out like sisters, fought like sisters then made up like sisters. Joan doesn't want to place the title of mother onto her, she has too many negative connotations with the word.
