Fun fact for our international followers: If someone in Australia cuts down a tree on public land to improve the view from their house, the local government will install a sign to block that view again
look all i'm saying is if you've ever seen someone be healed with magic, congratulations! you've witnessed a practitioner of necromancy. it's the exact same thing. all you're doing at a fundamental level is using magic to accelerate existing biological processes and animate tissue, the only difference is when you do it to dead tissue instead of living tissue, suddenly it's evil scary ~dark magic~ instead of good wholesome healing. it's purely cultural bias.
so no i don't think it's fair to say i "lied on my application" since i'm just as qualified as anyone to heal your party, but hey if you want to be a fucking narc and report me to the wizard council go right ahead. good luck finding an accredited healer at the wages you're offering by the way
The US could have avoided almost 250,000 Covid-19 deaths if every state had adopted stricter mask and vaccine requirements seen in the Northeast during the height of the pandemic, according to a new study.
Researchers say that the country, which saw more than 1.1 million Covid deaths, could have been spared an estimated 118,000 to 248,000 more lives.
Late night thought inspired by me being unreasonably excited about getting my fifth COVID vaccine, because five is a respectable number, don'cha know.
They should release a collectors set for vaccines.
Vaccines are incredible, but they do involve being stabbed with a needle, which understandably many people are not enthused about. I think a neat sticker book you fill in as you collect 'em all would go a long way toward increasing vaccination rates.
And for yearly stuff like flu, we could do a blind box! You know how much cooler it would be to go get the flu shot if it came with a box that holds one of six themed Shiba Inus?? Vaccine exclusive. You can only get it by getting poked, baby.
It has come to my attention that there are people who don't know who Gun Batman is. And I understand why! It's because if you search "Gun Batman" the search results are mostly lists of times Bruce uses a gun or why Bruce hates guns or Thomas Wayne's version of Batman.
While Thomas or Jason are both valid candidates to be "Gun Batman" considering they primarily use guns, they are typically not who people are talking about when they refer to "Gun Batman". It's actually Tim.
Gun Batman is from Titans of Tomorrow and is an alternate timeline version of Tim Drake. In his timeline, Batwoman killed Batman and Tim took up the mantle. Things went worse from there. Bette Kane, Cass, and Alfred died. In response, Tim used the gun that was used to kill Bruce's parents to systematically kill Gotham's most notorious criminals. He eventually realized that he could change the timeline (after a few run-ins with his past self) and decided that he should kill Kate (Batwoman).
And now you know a bit about Gun Batman! (There's more about him in the link above than I put here, but I think I summed up Gun Batman rather well.)
This was inspired by @hecate-hollow 's post about Bruce's will saying "don't let your brother become a supervillain" and at the end Bruce bringing up Gun Batman and almost no one in the replies (that I saw) knew who that was.
When Bruce “died” all his kids ended up gathering together for the reading of his will. Things were split pretty evenly between them with certain assets going to certain people (the company to Tim, the Manor to Alfred etc). At the end of the will there is one last line
“Don’t let your brother turn into a supervillian.”
All of the siblings are busy arguing about who Bruce might be talking about except for Tim and Cass, who are standing away from the group. Tim has an amused gleam in his eye and Cass is staring him down.
“Don’t you dare.” She signs at him knowing full well that Bruce was talking about Tim.
“I’m going to take over the League of Assassins.” He signs back to her.
Which was always the plan, he just couldn’t leave right away. Dick giving Damian Robin was a perfect excuse. Also, Bruce was def alive just lost in the time stream and the league would have the resources he needs to find answers.
Six months later, over 100 bases blown up, and with coordinates to recover Bruce, Tim returns to Gotham. He’s not alone though. Oh no. Drake Industries has had a complete overhaul under the leadership of the teenage heir and if all of the new employees are ninja assassins thats for Tim to know and no one else.
When Bruce returns he gets swarmed with questions from his kids about which brother he was referencing at the end of his will and he gives them all a confused look.
“Tim of course. The kid borrows my morals like library books.” At this, Dick goes ashen.
Tim? Bruce had been concerned about Tim? Tim who has been off the grid for the last 6 months doing god knows what?
“Tim should have known I was referencing him. He should have told you and the fact that he didn’t means I should be concerned.” Bruce glances to his son who can’t contain his smile.
“It’s hardly my fault the Ra’s has the charisma of a used gym sock. Besides, at least I offer benefits and paid time off. Also you don’t have to worry about the LOA anymore. They all work for me now.” He smiles a bit wider and then disappears into the shadows.
Bruce, who wrote that last line after going through Tim’s Young Justice Records, simply signs. “Could be worse. He could have become Gun Batman.” Which unloads an entirely new floodgate of questions from those around him, but as long as his kids are safe, happy, and still walking a mostly moral line then Bruce is happy.
one of my favorite tidbits about speedrunning that comes up every time the games done quick marathons come around is how Wind Waker speedruns are about five hours long because of the giant wall in Hyrule that actually forces the runner to play the game because they’ve been throwing shit at this wall for over a decade and still can’t figure out a way past it. the wall in hyrule is entirely unglitchable and the only way past it is to play the game properly. the speedrun would be like one hour if they could get past this wall but nope, it’s five hours. fuck the wall.
